So sorry, everyone, I had to step out to attend one of my closest friends' wedding. I'm back now, and so is lord-of-sith! Here he is with the award for Avatar of the Year!

lord-of-sith: Avatar. To some, the word conjures up images of a now popular Nickelodeon cartoon series. But to the members of Ultimate Disney, as well as a large portion of message boarders as a whole, the word brings only one image, the image below their username. A user's avatar can give others an idea of the user's interests, personality, or even physical appearance...

Oh come on! I can't be the only one to imagine Aaron looking like Amy Grant, right?

Right?

Anyway, avatars have sparked more than their fare share of controversy on UD, mostly with the restraint on their size, and how some are able to break it. But, as we let bygones be bygones, it just comes down to whose avatar -- or avatars -- is the most beautiful, humorous, and just plain fun to look at!

The members nominated for Best Avatar of the Year are:

2099net
Disneykid
Escapay
ichabod
Julian Carter
Luke
numba1lostboy
pinkrenata
The Little Merman

...And the Golden Mickey goes to...

This is Julian Carter's 1st Golden Mickey award. He has a total of 3 nominations this year.

Congratulations, Julian! Let's take a look at an example of your avatar ingenuity!

Thank you, lord-of-sith, for a great presentation speech as well!

While Joan is recovering on the red carpet from her bout with Off-Topic, you can all look forward to the award for Controversial Thread of the Year!

Congrats, Julian! That Maleficent avatar rocks so much. Let's see if you can top that this coming Christmas. Oh, wait, wasn't Julian executed for his pillow fight riot? Ah, well. I suppose Tia Dalma can always bring him back.

There you go. Ariel, drawn by the lovely Ms. Holly Bell who is not me. Ariel only looks like me more in this than in any other form, ever. Would that I could draw like that.

Who better to introduce the Controversial Thread of the Year category than the man whose full-frontal exploits are the source of controversy here in Off-Topic Hall each year? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Loomis!

Loomis: Controversy was released in October 1981, and met with some critical acclaim. Reaching #3 on the US Billboard R & B Charts, it contained the singles of the title track, "Sexuality"; "Let's Work" and "Do Me Baby". Perhaps its most controversial track was the closer - "Jack U Off" - an ode to mutual masterb...What? Sorry, I'm being told that this award is *not *going to Prince's acclaimed 1981 album that was the forerunner to the multi-platinum /1999 /and /Purple Rain/. Instead, this is about the type of controversy to be found on this very message board. Obviously, we aren't going for massive ratings this year.

Controversy has reared its ugly - and sometimes musical - head on this board many times this year. In days gone by, your old friend Loomis was at the centre of some of these controversies. Sadly, my lack of a nomination as a thread starter this year means I get to present an award rather than accept one. Much the same way that Prince presented the award to Actress Renee Zellweger for Best Leading Lady during the 31st Annual People's Choice Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium January 9, 2005 in Pasadena, California.

So without any further ado, the nominees are:

Are You a Virgin by sotiris2006
Mature Readers Only – Homo Classifications Thread by James
Rosie O'Donnell leaving The View by crunkcourt
Selective Service System. This applies to all US Males 18-25 by jeremy88
Frog Princess found & renamed! by Tk2
The Frog Princess Press Release by atlanticaunderthesea

Once again, no nominations for either Prince or Loomis. Controversy? YOU decide next year. The so-called winner is...

Of course, the Controversial Thread award doesn't truly "go" to anyone, but those wanting to reflect back on this year's winner can do so by reading the Are You a Virgin thread by sotiris2006.

Thanks to Loomis for a hilarious presentation speech!

The next presentation will bring us the award for Celebrity Interview of the Year!
