Can you imagine a Pixar sequel doing something like this? Even Cars 2 & Monsters University did better then this

I said it's going to be a box office disappointment (not a flop though). Now with Mary Poppins Returns, Aquaman, Bumblebee and Spiderman, why would anyone go and watch Ralph?

Even with the Disney Princesses it's doing less business than the original. If that's not a disappointment I don't know what is.

It's shocking that not even the princesses could save this. I'm really sad about this. This means that any plans with these characters are gone: The Tomorrowland ride, the chances of Vanellope of being in the Princess lineup if she had any, any potential TV shows they were developing early, a third one (there's no way Disney will let it happen now) etc. I don't even know if Disney would have a Wrecked Princess show or movie after this. I was looking forward for a big comeback with these characters, but it's not mean to be, I guess
D82 wrote:^Yeah, I don't think it has many chances of being nominated, but if it isn't, I'm glad at least it was in the Academy's top 15 songs.
I think next year will possibly be Menken's year with Jasmine's song. It all depends on how Frozen 2's songs are.

that's interesting, so it would have probably done even worse without the princesses. I wonder how that will affect Disney's plans for sequels to their other films. They must be worried about Frozen 2 considering that film's recent backlash and older audiences perception of it as just a little girls movie.
there's still the foreign BO though, if it does better there then none of this may really matter.

According to Corpse, who tracks the Box Office #s weekly for Japan on Box Office Theroy, it's suppose to open #1 there this weekend. The sequel needs $182 million worldwide just to match the original from 2012. It's highest market right now is China with $39 million. Future markets are France/Germany/Brazil & South Korea. In Japan it's pegged to gross $40+ million, about $11 million more than the original did in Japan. This sequel has a tough road ahead just to hit the $500 million mark worldwide! Just think, Incredibles 2 will have gross more domestic by itself then this worldwide combined

I hope so. It seems Disney will be competing with themselves again next year with these two titles. Also,
The Lion King remake will have a new song or two, right? Maybe it'll be in contention as well.

What is the backlash and little girl movie opinion, and where did you learn this from?

I'm pretty sure Frozen 2 will be fine, it might not hit the 1 billion mark again.
I would not count on China and Japan, they have a different culture than US and "American Internet" might not be a subject that would interest them.

the backlash is from when they released Olaf's Frozen Adventure before Coco, a lot of people complained online that they had to sit through a 22 minute Frozen short to watch a Pixar movie. There was this sense of just how tired many people were of Frozen or just didn't like it. Also when the movie came out there was the rush for dolls and dresses that were sold out and that made the news, that and the relentless exposure of Let It Go and little girls singing it online, and the barrage of little girls Frozen toys everywhere has given many a sense that the movie isn't for them.

China especially since they have their own version of Ebay and most of the film centers around the importance of Ebay so I can't imagine that will catch on very well.

That's true. Between The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen, Disney will have countless new songs that they'll want to nominate. I think Frozen 2's soundtrack is going to suffer because likely no matter how good the songs are, nothing will be able to rival Let It Go.

Yes, I imagine it must be a lot of pressure for the Lopezes to live up to their success with the first film and to try to come up with a song as good as
Let It Go.
And, come to think of it, we can't forget
Toy Story 4 either, if it has new songs. Randy Newman had songs nominated for
Toy Story 1 and 2 and won for
Toy Story 3.

Ohhhh. Well unprincess I think people were just mad that they had to see what felt like a mini movie of something else before they watched a Pixar movie. Frozen still blew away any Pixar film money and phenemona-wise so I really feel Frozen 2 will still do extremely well.

I'm not sure if this video about the making of the Princess scene has been posted or not:

It hasn't. Thanks for sharing! I wish they showed Mark Henn's pencil test of Ariel.
By the way, here's the
music video for the Japanese rendition of "In This Place".

The song fits incredibly well with that kind of Japanese music style. It almost seems it was written as a Japanese song.

Ugh, Jane & Calhoun and Jack & Felix deserved better. This is the deleted bit with the twins & Calhoun's mother, which they in fact recorded way back.
Ahead of the film's release, ComicBook.com spoke with McBrayer about working with Jane Lynch for a second time, and whether or not he had a different approach to voicing Fix-It Felix in the sequel.
"Yes and no," McBrayer began. "The good news was I was able to touch on the relationship with Jane Lynch's character, Calhoun, from the first one. These are definitely different circumstances because now were married and there's some tension, there's some marital strife, perhaps stagnation. But at the end of the day I'm doing bits with Jane Lynch, and so no matter what story they're giving you to play with, I'm able to like improvise. The hardest part for me was not laughing and like ruining a take for Jane because I mean she's just solid funny and she can't help it."
Part of what makes their relationship so intriguing is the fact that, unlike in other animated movies, many of these actors got to record in the studio together. McBrayer being able to improvise with Lynch while they were in booth, giving their relationship a much more authentic feel.
"There are a couple [of scenes]," McBrayer recalled with a laugh. "With Jane Lynch, there's a scene, I don't even know if it made it in the film, where she was having a flashback, a memory of her own mother, and she's coming out of the flashback and she's talking to her son. She goes, 'Mama, Mama, Mama,' she does it for like a solid 90 seconds. And I'm sitting there just trying so hard not to ruin the take because you know, this is an emotional moment for this character and also to have those headphones in. That's the only sound you hear, just, 'Mama.'

They ruined the princesses cause they didn't have a firewall or popup blocker. What gives with the which princess are you thing? Disney doesn't have anything like that. Dumb stormtroopers didn't even go into the princess room and Leia wasn't in there either.
Won't people notice Vanellope is missing from Sugar Rush?

They made a separate set with just Anna, Elsa, and Vanellope.

I like this artwork of Shank. She kind of looks like Belle here.
