The film is being released in three separate versions. The first and second are essentially the same except for the case. The Blu-ray packaging is in a Blu-ray case and the DVD packaging is in a DVD case. Everything else is exactly the same: same bonus features, amount of discs, etc. The third version is the 2-disc DVD only release that won't be released until later.
Since I don't have a Blu ray player, I wanna make sure the disc with the bonus features is a DVD and not a BD. Is there a way to know for sure? Kind of confused with all that combo sh!t.

There will be very few bonus features on the DVD that comes with the Blu-rays released on October 5th. The October 5th release contains two Blu-ray discs and one DVD (which is essentially the film and possibly some extras). That one DVD is the first disc of the 2-disc DVD that will be released in November. If you just want the DVD version of the film with the bonus features, you'll have to wait until November.

Here's a small sample of Jordan's Beauty/Beast music vid, very peaceful set and the costume is spectacular.

I don't know. Don't you have your original VHS and can look to see? The clips on Youtube don't show any I've seen.

I see. I don't wanna wait one more month :( But anyway, thanks for clearing that up :)

I sold my VHS in anticipation of this release (I hope the colors are corrected and I don't regret it), so I'm going stricktly by YouTube videos, but from what I can see, neither the VHS, IMAX trailer or Platinum Edition DVD had the reflection in the window. This makes me think Disney has plused this film once more. As I said, looks nice.

That really is too great. But, I must ask, why Criterion Collection? That isn't Disney, is it?
Just something to do, really. :P But also, Criterion covers are known for being very artistic and such, and imagining B&TB as a Criterion title gave me a lot more artistic freedom for the concept.

You can see a few other fake Criterion covers I made at my Tumblr. http://grandhotel.tumblr.com/tagged/cri ... collection Mine will also have the tag "fanmade shit." :P

Disney Duster wrote:Good catch jpanimation. That reflection of Belle was never in there. It's a good addition. But once again, it means...it's not the original theatrical version! Cogsworth better not be re-animated in a shadowless background again!
Could it possibly be that they're using the 2D version of the 3D conversion? Where something like a reflection would be a good way to give the picture more depth?

Thanks so much for that. :)

I'm a little disappointed, because they ended up turning it into a R&B mix (I should've expected that). It still sounds okay, but I would've liked to have heard her sing a more classical approach.
Like she did with the theme song for Don Bluth's The Land Before Time?

I can't wait for other restore classics on blu ray...I'm so sad I never really started collecting on DVD (though I do own all the platinums)

Yeah, that was a defining moment for her (for me) while she was on American Idol. The first was "I (Who Have Nothing." But, yeah, I would've much preferred something simple like that for "Beauty and the Beast."

The Black Cauldron: Producer Joe Hale talks munchings and crunchings…

AV: Disney is about to release the Diamond Edition of Beauty and the Beast and I know you happened to be part of the earliest version of the movie. Can you tell me about that?

JH: I got to work on Beauty and the Beast together with David Jonas, who is the greatest story sketch man in the world, and veteran story man and designer Al Wilson. We did some boards on Beauty and the Beast and had a couple of story meetings but Eisner didn’t want to do another fairytale. He wanted to do something more up-to-date, with Cindy Lauper, Billy Joel… He wanted something in which he could use popular art. Anyway, I love Beauty and the Beast. I think that’s the best thing they’ve done probably since I left!

the one who sold their vhs is going to regret doing so before they heard this......there's a $10 coupon offer for "upgrading" to the Diamond edition. All you have to do is enter the UPC code from the previous dvd release (or VHS) to get it. I've already printed off my coupon.

And I actually don't mind Jordin Sparks take on the song.

you don't need a unique UPC, any will do. just ask someone else who owns a copy for theirs. I did this when getting the toy story blu ray. even though I had the vhs and dvds, I didn't feel like getting out of my chair, and someone else was already sharing their UPC code.

I forget, are the UPC coupons good for in-store or just online?

Don't know if anyone really cares, but I got the new soundtrack cover in 1124x11224 pixels. The largest I've seen online is about 400x400.

The newest "restoration" or revision of this film that will be on the Diamond edition it now playing at the El Capitan here in L.A. If anyone goes to see it I would appreciate it if someone would come back here and report on the colors. I would go myself but I am positively skin-flint broke this month!

Oh, yes. Please someone.
Although, we would need screenshots to compare...
