I think one lesson in the film is that too much trust can be a bad thing. Sisu trusted too much, and look at what Dang Hu did... So I think there has to be a balance between how little Raya trusted others and how much Sisu trusted
Warm Regards wrote: Why is it Raya's responsibility to put the first step in trust here, again? Wouldn't it have made more sense for Namari to communicate, even briefly, about her perspective? Why couldn't Namari see that Raya has people on her side that trusted her and that maybe Raya knew a good idea to fix things?
I think so that Raya could be the "bigger person". Yes, it'd make sense for Namaari to explain more, but I think her pride maybe was part of her not communicating. I agree about that last sentence of yours above.

I think the moral is fine. Even bad people can be good to those who are good to them. It takes someone truly special to be good even to those who are cruel to them and even when they don't "deserve" it. If / when there is a sequel, I expect there will still be tensions between the groups to get over.

I really do hope that Disney's sequelitis will help to guarantee a sequel to this. I'd love for it to become a trilogy. Definitely deserves a sequel over something like WIR. As for the first article of the three, I do think Lasseter being ousted has unmoored PIXAR in a way. Sort of how Jeffrey Katzenberg seemed to lose interest at Dreamworks after his nemesis ( ) and driving force to succeed, Eisner, left the scene. Or how Don Bluth sort of lost energy in being the new Disney once Disney came back to itself with The Little Mermaid.

Damn, she's one of my favorite YouTubers. And her comparison is actually quite accurate. Cancel culture's the worst, huh?

Id love to see more of Raya as well but I really think this(and Encanto) would work better as a series. I just hope they dont go cheap on the animation. Tangled's series animation was cute but I dont think that style would work for either of those as series.

Yeah, she didn`t need to leave YouTube completely. She could only take a break for a while, but not leave it forever.

Yeah.... But a good TV series like with Aladdin or Tangled is not a guarantee. Look at Big Hero 6's horrid TV show. I'd much prefer having a film trilogy, where all the same talent and level of animation return. But I've never agreed with this talking point about how Raya's story should've been a TV series. There's nothing different from this film than there is with something like Coraline; both feature a character going from place to place picking up items like a video game, and they're both fantastic films, imo.

As for Encanto, I'd see a sequel, but I imagine a TV series for that one would be very dull.

They should have made a short epilogue where the gemstone is healed, and instead of locking it up behind closed and guarded doors, it should be placed in something resembling an open park environment, which people from the various kingdom could visit when they were around. The fact that it was so guarded is one of the reasons why they wanted it for themselves. Everything may seem fine now, but what about hundred or two hundred years later when later generations are starting to forget?

(Also noticed that two of the skeksis from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance are in the movie; Awkwafina and Benedict Wong)

thanks, I bought it. Dont have the movie yet and Im one of the few who actually liked this poster. I like it better than the other disc covers that's just clip art of Raya and Sisu pasted onto a background.

I know its chances are very slim, but at least it was nominated. :)

I'm also very happy it was nominated. It's my personal favorite animated film of the year and was really rooting for it to at least get a nomination.

So Raya was your favorite of 2021, too, blackcauldron85? I admit, I wish it had been a musical (a Lopez-lead musical, anyway), but it still hit me hardest between it and Encanto.

Raya is one of my most favorite WDAS films! Luca is one of my most favorite Pixar films! But I'd choose Raya over Luca. So yes, Raya = #1!
