I'm shocked that people are hating Fixer Upper. That's personal my favorite and honestly, it's the closest to Be Our Guest, Under the Sea etc. in years. Maybe because of the timing?

Fixer Upper is not only one of the best "fun" songs from Disney in a long time, it's also the heart of the soundtrack.

Thematically, that part is actually about Elsa even though they're singing about Kristoff.

I thought those lyrics were a little cheesy when I read them but that part of the song sounds incredible.

It's cute, but it's nowhere near Be Our Guest or Under the Sea.

I like Fixer Upper. It's a fun song where the trolls are... well, trolling around. They want Kristoff to marry Anna even though she likes Hans. Funny stuff.

I strongly agree with the point that it is the worst song from the worst sequence in the film, and that its placement is all wrong.

It absolutely kills the film's momentum, and at the most inopportune moment.

As of now the RT rating has been up to 89% and I looked up to see if more reviews are coming and they are either really postive to full out RAVE especially from USA Today, Chicago Sun-Times, New York Times, etc that haven't been posted there yet.

I anticipate at least two more negative reviews incoming, from Steven Greydanus and Keith Uhlich.

Those reviews from the SchmoesKnows and IGN are also taking their own sweet time to register on the site.

And I really wish Ebert was still alive.

Actually Anna and Elsa's parents DIDN't die from the storm and shipwreck! they did survive and got stranded in Africa. With no mode of communication, Elsa and Anna and all the people of Allendale assumed they died. Mean while they're in Africa trying to survive.

Just got back from the 8:25 3D preview…

I loved the movie, but what's worrisome is that it was literally a private screening. I was the ONLY person in the theatre. I went out to check with the ushers to make sure I was in the right house and they confirmed. The movie started and no one else came. I'm really hoping it isn't just us Disney fanatics who are hyped up for this. Yes the critics are (mostly) raving, but they raved about Winnie the Pooh too. I'm sure word of mouth will pick things up eventually unlike Pooh, but I'm starting to wonder if Disney might have blown it with the marketing…again.

Worries aside….

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it an 8.5
Highlights being the musical numbers, the voice acting, the art direction (Thank you Michael Giaimo) & the comedy.

The only real criticisms are that I wish they had given Elsa as much focus as they gave Anna. The "twist" WAS actually more WTF? than shock ...It was like seeing Pooh turn on Piglet all of a sudden, just weird. And the ending was too tacked on. A big closing musical production number or at least a short reprise was very much needed.

I'm curious how well it will hold up when the excitement of a new Disney animated fairy tale wears off. In the meantime, I'm thankful for this wonderful Holiday treat for us Disney fans. We don't seem to get as many as we used to, so I cherish them all the more when movies like this come along, and are actually great movies, genre be damned.

Yeah, but I have NEVER been to a preview in my area where no one showed up. Tangled was packed…Maybe this was just a weird fluke

Well, it's finally come. Frozen's release date! What will Frozen gross over the 5 day Thanksgiving holiday?

On another note, this is my first time in any way tracking reviews for an animated film, and I have to ask of anyone who has more experience with these things: are film-critic reviews of animated films usually so relentlessly political?

Because it strikes me that many, perhaps most of the reviews of Frozen, positive and negative alike, have been extremely, obsessively political/ideological in nature, scrutinizing above all the degree to which the female leads are good "role models," and if so, how.

I mean, action films are often pretty overtly political, and usually the critics only mention such aspects in passing, almost as an afterthought, if they note it at all -- even in Christopher Nolan and Zach Synder films, where the ideology isn't hidden.

But there has hardly been a review I've come across that hasn't, for example, taken a swipe at past Disney films on ideological grounds, and many of these measure the worth of Frozen by the degree to which it departs from traditions in this genre.

It's as if these critics were, twenty years ago, what the social-justice armchair warriors on tumblr are today.

I'm just wondering if this kind of ideological scrutiny is customary for animated films, or if this movie has uniquely attracted focus in this regard.

No, it's not for any animated movie..... Just Disney movies.

Disney is such an integral part of our culture, and because of that, they evoke a lot of passion within people. Everyone of those critics grew up with a favourite Disney film. Unfortunately, the times we are in now are cynical, and so people's hearts are more "frozen" in today's day and age.

If this film premiered right after The Lion King, it would have FAR less detractors.

I just got back from seeing the movie, and I really liked it! Another great entry in Disney's cannon in my eyes. It's honestly one of my favorite animated musicals from them in years.

Even though I really liked Tangled and Princess and the Frog, I always felt the songs were the weakest part of the movie. Except for "I See The Light" and maybe "Friends on the other side", none of them stick out to me. For Frozen; "Do you want to build a snowman?", "Let it Go", and "For the First Time in Forever" were stand outs for me.

I really liked the relationship between Anna and Elsa and I'm glad that was the main focus of the story. I love how in the third act Anna sacrificed herself to save Elsa. I think the moral of love and family was really presented well.

As far as negatives goes, a one critic put it, "the twist was not earned". Hans become the villain felt too random. It was like Jennifer Lee was trying to top herself on fooling the audiences on who the villain is, but it not as successful results like Wreck It Ralph. Also, while I'm glad the sister relationship is the main focus of the story, I don't think Anna and Kristoff's relationship is all that developed or memorable.

Other than that, I thought the movie was great. Easily the best animated movie of 2013 in my eyes.

My question is, why would Disney green lit the use of this art for the merchandise?

They were giving out free tickets for a early session ( for us ) over here but it was over the other side of town and it was first in first serve. Never would of made it in time since was busy with work.

I have no idea! I wouldn't purchase anything with those images, they have so many images that they could potentially use for merchandise that represent the models actually in the film. It's very disappointing that there is so little merchandise with 'nicer' images.

I love how Kristoff and Anna's relationship is. Anna didn't have much time or energy to put into a possibly romantic relationship the way Rapunzel did with Flynn. The whole time she was worrying about her sister and tryning to make sense of the situation and possible solutions. I like that the relationship isn't developed, because, well, it isn't. I also think that kiss at the end is more open ended than most Disney Princess kisses, and it doesn't necessary mean that they will always be together. Kristoff helped Anna save her sister, and she is very thankful for that. She may start to like him now after the events of the movie, since she has time to spend with him without worrying about her sister. But hey, maybe they will grow apart and Kristoff will keep chillin' with sven. Its open ended.The movie is about a complex, sisterly relationship under stress, and I think trying to stick a well developed romantic relationship in there wouldn't make much sense or work well at all, and I am so glad they didn't feel the need to do that just because it is a Princess movie.
