RIP Moana.

At least she's Polynesian. Have never heard her sing, but trust Disney's casting when it comes to this. Rarely a miss.

Or so I read on another forum. Sounds like they're going for something authentic. Could be good.

After some digging, Lin-Manuel Miranda turns out a Broadway songwriter/composer/actor (off-Broadway's "Hamilton") and Opetaia Foa'i a Polynesian musician. Mark Mancina will probably serve as composer for the score.

It's sad and infuriating that they'd rather hire nobodies like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mark Mancina over Menken. Shameful.

Where does it say that Dinah is Moana? I see NOTHING at all.

Lin Manuel Miranda is the song composer? YES! This is perfect for the kind of world that Moana will be set in and I'm sure he'll do Disney justice.

I don't think that's right. A lot of fake Twitter accounts reported that, but there seems to have been no official announcement at D23. Seems like Moana didn't even speak in the clips they showed, either. I don't think they've picked the girl.

Also, to call Lin Manuel Miranda a nobody just because Alan Menken isn't composing the music in Moana is petty and misinformed. He's the toast of Broadway right now with Hamilton. Certainly more than qualified to work on a Disney musical.

I must have missed when it became a rule that Disney has to provide work for Alan Menken. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to seeing what the musical team for Moana come up with, for two "nobodies" they' don't look to have done too badly for themselves, particularly Tony and Grammy-award winning Lin-Manuel Miranda.
