You know Toy Story 3 is something special, when somebody I know who doesn't like movies and hasn't stepped into a cinema in over eight years is excited about seeing it. Then, you know Pixar has created something impressive and universally-appearing to everybody and I mean, everybody.

Well, you know what I found interesting? I don't remember what movie it was, but I saw an ad on TV in which a critic was quoted as calling it "The best made-for-adults film of the summer." Do you know what that means? Usually, a very good animated film will be written off as "The best animated film" or "The best children's film." But now, an animated film is just so good that it is actually other films that need a qualifier to be praised! Well done, Pixar!

i'm not surprised by the income from Russia. Where I live, Israel, it's clear that Shrek 4 (who came out here only this weak) is much more popular here then Toy Story 3. They almost didn't market it here, in contrast to Shrek where i can see everywhere.
sorry if I'm writing in bad English

I still have not yet seen the movie, but while I've seen that people view the movie positively, I would like to just reserve my judgment until I see it for myself.

If anyone hasn't seen the movie yet...you have to go see it soon! You won't have a better experience seeing a movie. I don't even go to the theater that often to see movies, I usually just wait until they come out on video since tickets are so expensive now, but Toy Story 3 was well worth every penny!

We were going to go to see the movie today, but we couldn't because it was oversold. I guess we'll have to try again some other time...

In fact, almost every movie at the theater was sold out. Not only was "TS3" sold out, but so was "Twilight: Eclipse". Even "Grown-Ups" was oversold.

So as of yesterday, I've seen it in both 3D and 2D. My conclusion: I prefer Day and Night in 3D and Toy Story 3 in 2D.

Disney would never dare to make a scene as frightening and emotional like that.
The incinerator scene of Toy Story 3 is more frightening than "Night on Bald Mountain" in Fantasia or Lampwick's transformation in Pinocchio? More emotional than the death of Bambi's mother, or the death of Snow White, or the separation of Jumbo, Jr. and his Mother?

Disney "would never dare" to make a scene like the climax to Toy Story 3?

Come on, man.

Considering the most recent example in your reply is from 1942 I'd have to agree with the poster you're quoting.

I was talking in the present tense. The examples you're listing are 60 years old.

To me it is! Those characters mean way more to me than anyone else you mentioned. It's like watching your friends of 15 (or 11 >_>) years die helplessly in an inferno ;_;

Well, present tense is today. That excludes your beloved Eisner films. But if you want to include those versus TS3, so be it. You have either a short memory or no faith in the company you are here to discuss. "disney would never dare make a scene like that!" Come on, what nonsense.

Holy Mother!! I am not too surprised though and i am not sure where but i saw online that they used about $30-$50 Million dollars to make the movie, so that is more than 5 times there budget or even more! These CEOs are gettin paid!
