Who besides true hard fans would care for few frames alterations?
The movie will sell either way.

I am literally in a dither - I don't know what to do about my preorders ....
I have ordered the Little Mermaid Trilogy on Blu from the UK from amazon.co.uk, and have also preordered the US blu/DVD combo pack on amazon.com.
Do I cancel both ? Wait for a response from Disney ? The US one isn't as much of an issue as there is time still, but its the UK one, as it gets released earlier here., as I'm sure you all know.

The real problem with the third change is that the audio and video don't match anymore for about two seconds, right?

It won't let me post my complaint in the link Scaps posted, as it says my 'detail' should be 500 and under, and it is well below ... but still won't let me post ?!

Wow. I wonder if any of this has to do with the 3D conversion, like Lion King?
I'll still probably get it but will be watching for more news on this.

The first two changes aren't that drastic, and for the 3rd change, there is just a moment when the audio and the video won't match. For me, it's not a big deal, I don't really care for these stuffs (like the color of Cinderella's dress), because it doesn't stop me from enjoying the movie, and you guys really shouldn't let it stop you either. Granted, why mess with a movie that's perfect, but still.

The changes pile up though. In the Platinum the messed a sailor's line in the beginning. Not only did they not fix this, they added 3 more changes. Here's the clip

I feel exactly the same. Disney really could not care less than they already do.
You’d think we could at least get what we liked from the past without them doing as much as possible to change it. All brought to you by John Lasseter, of course, since he’s head of the re-release?

I’m glad they know better than the original filmmakers how the film should be composed. Between this and
The Sword in the Stone…

(Thankfully I’m not one of the hugest fans of
Cinderella or B&tB, otherwise those color changes would make it near impossible for me to watch and enjoy.

The error is worse than I had imagined. Can't Disney do anything right anymore?

Holy Crap!
This is bad.
But again, they have changed so many parts of animation and scenes in the other classics, like the Cogsworth animation, changed perspectives at the end of "Something there" in BATB. Also the completely ruined "Gifts of beauty" in Sleeping Beauty, where the instrumentals have shifted and don't match the chorus anymore in terms of pace.
I cannot enjoy these remakes and pretend it's the same film.
It turns out that the 2002 limited edition dvd is the closest to the original version that the world will ever see.

Someone on blu-ray.com posted that the most likely reason for the WDPP title having been moved up is to make room for the "A Special 3D presentation of" title for the 3D edition. This makes sense for THAT version of the film, but they should have put it back to it's original place for the 2D version.
I never really followed the whole The Lion King "missing clouds" fiasco too closely (though it still irks me). Did Disney ever issue ANY kind of response to the problem, even though they didn't offer to fix it?
Or do we just have to wait till they release the all-new Tourmaline Editions to get these movies fixed?

Ouch!
So:
- Pinocchio - missing soundbite
- Beauty and the Beast - supposedly wrong / lighter colors
- The Lion King - missing SFX (clouds)
- Cinderella - botched DNR process
- The Sword in the Stone - bad HD remastering
- The Little Mermaid - editing issues
Anything else?

BatB also had editing issues and Mermaid has other editing issues as well

At first I watched it and thought nothing was wrong with it, but then I watched the scene on youtube and yeah that's bad
Go to the 2 minute 30 second mark. and compare it to that clip of the Diamond edition and you can see the error

then watch the error clip

I'll still end up getting it, given the transfer most probably will be stunning and it's overall the same movie that I love.
Also I think out of that list of issues with the Disney Blu Rays, only Pinocchio got a disc replacement offer....so odds are it will stay the same, and a majority of the average joe watching this who aren't Disney Fanatics like us, won't even notice it most probably. Also I might have not noticed it if I didn't compare the two videos

Do they do do replacement discs in the UK, or is it just Diney US customers?

Seriously?
This is why I never get excited over Blu-ray upgrades anymore . . . well, when it comes to Disney, anyway.

Disney might send out replacement slipcovers for that, but I wouldn’t count on anything.

Okay...
I never got mad that the colors on Beauty and the Beast weren't the "theatrical colors", I didn't throw a hissy fit about the alterations on the Star Wars Blu-ray or the restoration job on Cinderella...
But I
am hopping mad about this!
To anyone who says nobody will notice, tell that to every ducking person who spent a majority of their lives watching the movie on VHS or DVD! I'm sure they WILL notice.
I am hoping and praying we US fans don't have this problem present on the Blu-ray.
