Cool, thanks. On the official Disney website, there is some links to movie ticket websites and they all say that the movie will last for 135 minutes; that makes it official and that makes me really happy!bradk wrote:Isobelle Molloy apparentlyMusical Master wrote:Who's playing Young Maleficent in that picture with Young Stefan?
I have read about people pointlessly nitpicking many movies but this is starting to get ridiculous taei...taei wrote:Ok...
I'm not one to complain about these things, but I was looking at the images on Stitch Kingdom and this is the first thing that came on my mind
So Merryweather is now thin and tall?
Maleficent's voluminous dress is now replaced with a very tight dress?
Unbelievable..
Oh no!, i'm so sorry T__TMusical Master wrote: I have seen people pointlessly nitpick many movies but this is starting to get ridiculous taei...
That's okay taei, it happens to fans of any movie with a new adaptation that comes out. I'm fascinated with the changes of this new version of Sleeping Beauty (which is a movie I find overrated but with beautiful art direction and animation), that both Paul Dini and Linda Woolverton came up with together, that this movie might have the chance to be the best live-action fairy tale film to date (hopefully beating Oz: The Great and Powerful to my eyes and ears).taei wrote:OMG, i'm so sorry T__TMusical Master wrote: I have seen people pointlessly nitpick many movies but this is starting to get ridiculous taei...
I promise you, I'll go see the movie and I'm not trying to destroy it.
It was just a little observation
I don't know, Sleeping Beauty is just up there with the best movies IMO. and I'm just saddended buy all the changes!
But If it ever comes to the point where it's bothering people I'll stop being too negative (which i can see clearly is now).
I care about your opinions and there's nothing wrong with liking the movie!
on multiple levels, it would not be fair to equate knotgrass, thistlewit and flittle with flora, fauna and merryweather.taei wrote:So Merryweather is now thin and tall?

Yeah, there's no shame in liking the changes!Musical Master wrote:

Exactly, I'm going to see this as another adaptation of the fairy tale with elements from the original 1959 film but creating a new story from it. Which is a big reason why I didn't hate the leaked script by Woolverton and not joining the "She has destroyed the classic film and tainted it" ship. I can't wait for the movie and it's hard to believe it's coming.bradk wrote:on multiple levels, it would not be fair to equate knotgrass, thistlewit and flittle with flora, fauna and merryweather.taei wrote:So Merryweather is now thin and tall?

if you're looking to compare this film to Sleeping Beauty, you will be sorely disappointed in ways you couldn't imagine. It borrows from Sleeping Beauty but it's not Sleeping Beauty.
No, there was nothing wrong with you expressing your opinion, even if it was negative.taei wrote:Oh no!, i'm so sorry T__T

If it was another adaptation, it would be another adaptation...and it would at least be like the original fairy tale, no fairy that cursed the princess then loves her and wakes her up instead of the prince.Musical Master wrote:Exactly, I'm going to see this as another adaptation of the fairy tale with elements from the original 1959 film but creating a new story from it.
Frozen. Is that one like the original fairy tale? No, but some people call it an adaptation of The Snow Queen. On a good note, I have bought the novelization (via Itunes) and I think that while there is some similarities, it is SO MUCH BETTER than the leaked script in a good amount of ways (though some things in here will not be like the final version of the film). I was shocked that the Queen died before Aurora came home, that was kind of sad..Disney Duster wrote:If it was another adaptation, it would be another adaptation...and it would at least be like the original fairy tale, no fairy that cursed the princess then loves her and wakes her up instead of the prince.Musical Master wrote:Exactly, I'm going to see this as another adaptation of the fairy tale with elements from the original 1959 film but creating a new story from it.
Fair enough, but to me Maleficent still uses elements of the 1959 film in certain ways that I can call it a loose adaptation.Disney Duster wrote:The adaptations need to keep certain things. I feel Frozen kept what it needed to be called The Snow Queen, as in a literal snow queen and who gets rescued by her friend (well, who's also her sister) but I feel Maleficent does not have what it takes to be called an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty.
BTW, when seeing the new pictures did you like the fact that a good amount of the sets for this film are half pratical/half CG? I sure did, it reminds me of Lord of the Rings and how that series made their sets.Disney Duster wrote:That's fair enough, too. And I forgot to say, Frozen did miss one thing it needed to keep, the names Gerda and Kai for their respective characters.
Why? I mean, yeah, the story was changed in some places, but the characters (except the good fairies) seem to be faithful to the original.Disney Duster wrote: Maleficent does not have what it takes to be called an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty.
