I expect little difference in this v. the remakes because Rowling still has final say in a lot of ways. After all, it already came out that they had thought about setting the mini-series in France or something instead of Britain (....), but she put her foot down. Whereas most of the original people involved were not on the Disney remakes, and even in the rare case like Alan Menken, he had no power to overrule any decisions being made like with a series where an author is involved.
Anyway, the film series doesn't satisfy me for the most part either, so at least something new has a shot at it. I don't think this is the same as Benedict Society. I've never even heard of that show or the book it's based on, and I think that probably has more to do with its cancellation than anything.

But still, like I said, the first season of society was apparently “very well received”, so what happened with season 2? On a more similar note, that’s pretty much exactly what Happened with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man……
And again, it also means that both fantastic beasts and the overall series cannot have a proper conclusion/reunion, as we shouldn’t expect there to be a “No Way home”/“days of future past”/Deadpool 3 esque movie with the OG cast/continuity, which despite its overall reception, is actually truly needed to more than make up for David Yates‘ very lacklustre movies, Also especially since we’re not getting any of the unreleased deleted scenes from them
And again, same with actually giving us the final duel/closing of the Grindelwald story arc which ties directly into the backstory that was already in the books

And also with many people stating that the movies influenced JK’s writing (Slughorn calling Ron Rupert at one point in half blood Prince, EH? Etc.) then what’s the say that a similar thing won’t happen here, and again therefore having the show replace the movies, regardless Of what you And or others may think whether for or against the movies overall....
And may I personally ask, if they had released those many unreleased deleted scenes, would they have helped you like the movies better? It shouldn’t be too hard to look them up what day specifically or if you haven’t already

Bleh ... would rather do more Disney Lego projects based on Disney animated properties (even if they were JUST princess centric) before anything Marvel or Star Wars.

Yes, it is! In addition to those shows, 20th Century Studios' film
Prey, which was released exclusively on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in some other territories,
will be available on Blu-ray as well. This gives me hope Disney+ originals like
Disenchanted could also be released on Blu-ray in the future. And perhaps other classic films or shows too, like the Walt Disney Treasures. Hopefully, Disney+ and physical media can coexist or at least the latter can last a few more years.

The Clone Wars final season should be next to get a physical release.

If they'd release Disenchanted, I'd be so happy.

Disney movies Moana (84 weeks in the top 10 films list) and Encanto (58 weeks) — the only two feature films in the 12 most consistent titles — also benefit from repeat viewing. The threshold for making the top 10 movies in Nielsen’s rankings is also typically lower than for series, which is no surprise given that a feature film is a couple hours’ worth of viewing compared to dozens or hundreds of hours of running time for a series.

This is awesome!!! I'll definitely be getting The One and Only Ivan.
So how do write-offs (or whatever the correct terminology is) work...it saves Disney $ allowing these to be sold digitally but not to stream?

That's lame, I was gonna watch The One and Only Ivan, I just haven't gotten to it yet. I'm not gonna buy it on its own. I hate how Disney just removes things without even announcing it ahead of time. Not only did they claim they would not remove content early on, they aren't even doing it with notice. At least with netflix they tell you when things are about to be pulled.

Technically Deadline reported the removals a few days before it happened, but obviously it's not enough time for people to watch everything they would like to before it's removed (
https://deadline.com/2023/05/disney-rem ... 235372512/).
It does suck that they said they wouldn't remove content...was that a Chapek vs Iger thing I wonder...?
I'm grateful we'll have the opportunity to buy some of these though.

Has anyone else watched the remastered version of Chips Ahoy on Disney+?
The cartoon was edited! They removed the scene with Donald smoking a cigar and blowing smoke to create a fake fog to fool Chip and Dale. I'm not sure how to feel about this edit.

I saw that Loki's second season or other is getting a Blu-ray release on Disney Movie Club. I suppose that's more hope for other Disney+ exclusives like Disenchanted, Hocus Pocus 2, etc. down the line.
