>.< Tangled didn't even get nominated for BAF...that makes me so frustrated, I was really rooting for it after seeing it twice and loving it both times. Especially since it lost out to IMO the good-but-has-become-incredibly-overrated How To Train Your Dragon.

At the same time, though, I kind of feel like WDFA is reaping what they sowed with their initial bad marketing. You marketed it as a mediocre Shrek knockoff, the Academy treats it like the rest of the mediocre Shrek knockoffs despite its box office success.

Regarding the Best Song category, I think that the Golden Globes had a better selection of songs.

Golden Globes
Best Original Song - Motion Picture
"Bound To You" – Burlesque
"Coming Home" – Country Strong
"I See The Light" – Tangled
"There's A Place For Us" – The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader
"You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me" – Burlesque

Academy Awards
Music (Original Song)
“Coming Home” from “Country Strong”
“I See the Light” from “Tangled”
“If I Rise” from “127 Hours”
“We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3"

^ I would have liked to see Narnia's song at least get nominated. I haven't heard the other noms but I'd probably replace "We Belong Together" with that one. At least we don't have to see "I See the Light" lose to flipping Burlesque this time around--though I'm still not sure how confident I am of Tangled's song winning the Oscars, seeing Disney's track record in the Best Song category the past few years. :(

Well, I'm back from the Tangled preview screening !

First of all, can I just say I was overcome by the movie ...... it was breathtaking / beautiful / funny / sad / musically wonderful / epic / adventure - filled Disney movie I hav EVER seen ! I loved every minute of it, and I cannot wait to see it again, when it is released next Friday.

The Q and A with the directors was great, though they were basically quoting the 'Art Of Tangled' book pretty much word for word, which made me laugh ...... BUT Glen Kene was there ! He came as a very special guest, and it was such a treat to have him there ! I'll write up what they had to say later, if anyone would like to know ? As I don't have a lot of time to do it justice. My questions did get anwered, but after the Q and A, when all 3 guys were down in the lobby signing autographs and chatting to fans etc.

The mix of people there was incredible, from families, to groups of guys, couples, girlfriends in a big group, old couples ..... LOADS ! Was wonderful to see the genuine mix, and the audience loved it.

I also would like to report that a friend of mine works in a Disney Store in London, and they have told me that the Tangled toys are selling out like there is no tomorrow, and he feels its twice as fast / more so than TPATF ever was. Good signs all round for the UK !!!

I know it's a bit off topic, but I'm glad those songs from Burlesque didn't get a nomination.. I couldn't believe they won a Globe.

And I would also like to add that I am appalled that Tangled didnt get an Oscar nom for Animated film. Why the hell didnt it ?!

And we all know it wont get Best Song, as the Acadamy seem to hate Menken now for some reason. :(

I wish Alan Menken would win but I highly doubt it. The Academy has been snubbing him since 1996. The winner is going to be either "Coming Home" or "If I Rise".

I'm feeling sorry for Disney and Tangled, it's to bad one of the greatest Disney-films in years don't get more nominations, but at least it has done amazing at the box office and with the critics. Alan Menken should win for best song though!

When Menken was nominated for 3 songs from Enchanted, I can imagine he would have had better chances winning if only "That's How You Know" had been nominated. Now that only one song from Tangled had been nominated, do you think that raises his chances to win this time?

I actually think Tangled has a good chance of winning Best Song, as a consolation for being snubbed in the BAF category.

I should hope so. Of course, I had hoped that the double nomination curse would have made Burlesque lose to Tangled at the Golden Globes, but that didn't happen.

I still firmly believe, however, that Enchanted would have easily won best song if it hadn't been nominated 3 times.

They have to give the Oscar to Menken.
Without Tangled in any other category, he has to win.
It's necesary, Tangled needs some recognition

Members have been posting positive reviews they've found on the web for two months. What movie fan wouldn't know about Tangled?

" 'Tangled' didn't get nominated and I was really rooting for them, they really deserved to be in there. And I'm disappointed for those guys because they made a really beautiful film that was definitely Oscar-worthy," Unkrich said.
