The crazy thing is.... I don't even have this movie on blu ray. Cause the bonus features on it were pretty lame. Not even an audio commentary.

Something tells me there is no planned re-release for it with some good stuff...

Disney pretty much only reissues their discs on rereleases. The only exception is the Signature Collection.

I am always confused how the Pixar films consistently get packed blu-ray releases even after Disney in general abandoned 2-Disc sets, and the WDAS films not. Is it that Disney management thinks blu-ray collectors want to see how Pixar films are made, but not so much WDAS films? Or does the home video release depend very much on the individual animation studios? If so, why don't WDAS use their resources to create releases comparable to the Pixar ones?

Perhaps there's less manpower and money to go around? Come to think of it, is Pixar a larger studio than WDAS? The former releases at least one film annually, and two every other year. WDAS only does one movie annually, and has sometimes skipped a year in these last 15 years.

So, for Tangled, here is my list:

1. Blu-ray (Japan) - LOVE IT, it's perfect
2. Zavvi Steelbook - again, perfect design, iconic moment in the movie, looks great in person
3. BestBuy Steelbook - Love the background, and the characters' poses
4. 4K (Japan)
5. 3D Blu-ray (US) - I love the background
6. Regular Blu-ray - this one looks great as well, but more points for the 3D version for the better background
7. Disney Princess Collection (Australia) - I think it's a frame from the movie, but they redrew her in 2D, and she looks beautiful. I still hate that darn rating logo
8. Heroes Cover (France) - Her pose is super badass, and it works great with the pink background
9. Villains Cover (France)
10. 4K (US) - I really hate the covers for the new 4K releases, but this one isn't that bad. I wish they used a different pose for her though
11. Heroes Cover (UK) - hate the background
12. Villains Cover (UK) - ditto
13. 3D Blu-ray (France) - awful design, it looks even worse in person.

Sorry for posting a new cover now that everybody has already posted their rankings, but I hadn't found it until now. It's the cover for the Korean 3D Blu-ray, which uses the art from this theatrical poster.

I really like that cover, D82. Somehow I feel like it represents the film better than any other cover. I think I put it in number 2 or 3.

I really like that cover too! But Rapunzel never looked like that in the movie to me.

Here's my ranking:

1. Blu-ray (Japan): I agree with all the criticisms you have with this cover, Marce82, and I think the Zavvi Steelbook one is better, but I personally prefer this one mainly because it feels more mysterious in the sense that it doesn't reveal so much about the movie as the steelbook.

2. Zavvi Steelbook (UK): I love this one too and I agree with everyone else that it's a great cover.

3. Blu-ray/DVD: I don't mind the poses, given that as Marce82 pointed out, the movie also has adventure, but I'm not a fan of the expressions here or on most of the other covers. However, I think this is not a bad cover and I like the background and how it's framed by the trees/bushes.

4. 3D Blu-ray (Korea): I think this is one of the covers that wants us to believe this movie has some twist and it's not just a direct adaptation of the fairy tale, but it's actually quite beautiful.

Well, though that exact scene doesn't happen like that in the final film, it shows some of the most iconic elements from the fairy tale like the tower or Rapunzel's long hair and feels quite magical thanks to the beautiful setting, so I think you may be right after all.

Yeah, she has that same malicious smile she has on many of the covers.

5. 3D Blu-ray (France): To me both Rapunzel and Flynn look like wanted thieves here, even though their faces are the same as in the Blu-ray/DVD. I don't like nor hate the concept, but I find a bit stylish that it's almost monochromatic with the title being golden like the hair.

6. 4K Best Buy Steelbook Exclusive: It's kind of cool that the image continues on the back, but I agree with Marce82 that the front doesn't really work on its own and I prefer when the do. Plus, I can't believe they used this art that supposedly includes a subliminal message.

7. 4K UHD (Japan): I would've ranked it higher if not for the uninspiring background.

8. 3D Blu-ray: I never liked this one because I don't like the mix of night and day elements in the background.

14. Disney Princess Cover (Australia): I like the pose, but it looks like a weird combination of 2D and 3D animation to me. I think they should've adapted the design to 2D instead of tracing it from a still from the movie and just paint it like a 2D image, which it's what it seems they did. I think they used this still and just rotated it a bit:

I guess you're right that the lily pad dress is used more than the silver one nowadays and I get your point too. I personally don't mind the silver one being used, though. After all, she's in it in the most iconic scene from the movie (the kiss). Plus, though she didn't choose it and it's a costume, it was clearly designed for her (it isn't Charlotte's style) to serve its purpose in that scene making Naveen believe she was a princess.

It seems most of these character's poses were based on Glen Keane's sketches, so I guess you're right that that particular pose was drawn by him. Here are some examples:

D82, don't worry. That is no subliminal message. Frankly whoever pointed that out probably doesn't have anything better to do.

It is human nature to make out familiar shapes in things that should not have them. I'm sure if one tries they can pick out other letters in Rapunzel's hair. Those sort of articles are click-baity trash. Oh well ... I guess their creators need to make a living ...

Yeah, I agree that that's the case most of the time. I made that comment because I remember seeing that Tangled one posted here on the forum and I supposed there was probably a bit of controversy over it at the time, so I thought it wasn't a good idea on Disney's part to continue using that clip art. But when I searched for a link for Disney Duster not many results appeared and all seemed click-baity, so I guess it didn't spark much controversy after all.

If you want the Blu-ray cover of Winnie the Pooh but the title with red letters, there is the Swedish Blu-ray version. I bought it when it came out. This Blu-ray is extremly rare in Sweden, discontinued. But the DVD is still available.

It's hard to rank them- all the single-movie ones are really good. DVD/Blu, DVD UK, DVD France/Blu Japan are all excellent, all #1s to me. Then DVD + CD. There's nothing wrong with the multi-movie packs- I love me some Lumpy. And this has some of the best Heroes covers.

So much personality in these posters/covers for this special movie!

Thank you for posting those Keane drawings, D82. That last one especially--it's too bad they didn't include Pascal in the cover itself in that pose.

Here's my ranking. I've grouped some covers that are similar and I like more or less the same.

1. DVD (France): This one was the cover in Spain too. My favorites are once again the covers that recycle theatrical posters. The characters look great here and I especially like the style of the background and the Backson's silhouette at the top.

2. Blu-ray (Japan): I prefer the French version because this one cuts the river.

3. DVD (UK): It's funny and well drawn too.

4. DVD/Blu-ray (DVD packaging)/Blu-ray: It's not bad, but it seems they just put clip art of the different characters together in the same picture.

5. DVD + CD (Mexico): Similar to the last one, but the composition is worse in my opinion.

It looks much better with the red letters. I don't know why they didn't use the original logo for the domestic version and chose just a black title in such a simple font.
