Funnily enough, I bought the DVD's before I bought the player

Actually, neither of these were my favourite as a) I only played the South Park DVD once or twice, and the Alice barebones was replaced with the re-released and expanded one disc edition)

Never got around to purchasing the two disc edition, though.

My first DVD was Big Daddy. Which I got in March of 2001. I used to watch this movie A LOT when I had it on video so I got the dvd.

My first Disney DVD was Mickey's Magical Christmas. I don't have it anymore and i don't know why i sold it.

The first DVD I ever bought was the the Truman Show, back in 2001. It was my favourite film at the time, and although it no longer holds that particular honour, I still love it, even if I haven't watched it for some time.

The first Disney DVD I ever bought was the Bambi PE, earlier this year (though I did have Monsters Inc before then). It took me such a long time to start collecting my favourite Disney films on DVD. The price I pay for that is totally missing out on Fantasia's run (fingers crossed it'll get a PE of its own in enough time...before then, my VHS copy will still have a job in my household. I just hope it doesn't go mouldy, like my Snow White video ).

The Last Unicorn, the German edition. It was also my first purchase on Amazon.com.

Whenever DVD's made their first appearance, I believe that it was in 1997. My first DVD player was a Toshiba, and I believe my first DVD was Air Force One with Harrison Ford. I think there was about five or six titles released the same day, and I got them all.

Then as the came out, I replaced my VHS tapes with the DVD versions. It has been a long process. I now have over 2,000 DVD's, including all of the Disney DVD titles that are currently available.

I will join with many of those who think that Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition is my most favorite of the Disney releases. There are so many Disney live action titles that are not available yet on DVD, and I can't wait for them to be released, if ever. That is why I recorded the VHS tapes of those titles to DVD+RW. I have less than 30 VHS tapes left from a collection that once numbered in excess of 5,000.

My very first DVD I got was in the year 2001 when I discovered that my old computer (Windows ME) has a DVD player.

First DVD: The Simpsons "Season 1" Set
First Disney DVD: Either "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" or "Dumbo:60th Anniversary Edition".

And now, I have at least 80 DVDs in my collection. Until then, by Christmas, I will get my DVD recorder and upgrade vhs's that were taped on TV to DVD.

My very first DVD was The Little Mermaid II Return To The Sea.
I remember that like it was yesterday.
I bought it to test out my Computer DVD player and I never knew it would grow to over 1,000 DVDs lol

Can we please merge this thread with the old one? I see no need to repost my first purchases again (but since I'm making this, what the hell? Stargate: Directors Cut, Wizard of Oz, and Mystery Men all at once).

My first dvd was Gone in Sixty Seconds.

My first DVD was The Wizard of Oz: Special Edition, which I got for free thanks to a mail-in offer that had come with my old Sony DVD player. My first Disney DVD was, fittingly enough, Alice in Wonderland: Gold Classic Collection.

My first DVD would've been in December 2002, about 1 month after my house burnt down, I was on the news, and according to Columbia Tristar, I was cute, so they gave me heaps of DVD's and a free DVD player as a Christmas present, I got some more DVD's from some other movie companies, but Columbia gave me the most The first DVD in the box that I noticed was Spider-Man. I was so obsessed with this movie. Anyhoo, the VHS's burnt and I have never gone back.

So my first DVD (that I noticed) was Spider-Man.

I think I had wanted to see this movie and tried to record it from a free preview of HBO or something....cable wasn't working right........ended up buying it. I had to watch it on the DVD Rom on the computer because I didn't have a DVD Player yet.

Spider-Man Widescreen Edition. My mom got it for me for Christmas of 02. We got 10 free Blockbuster rentals with it.

My first DVD I ever got was Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition in 2000,I got it for christmas when it was brand new along with my first DVD player (Which was cheap as hell and broke soon after i got it) and it is comes with the metal slipcover and is the double sided DVD 18 version (Which i later heard was the harder to find one and was quickly replaced with the 2 disc DVD 9 version) and it is still one of my favorite DVDs because it has soooooooo many cool features, theres probably some i havent even found yet. Its like a holy grail, I keep it hidden away from the rest of my collection and only take it out when i want to watch the special features, (the actual reason it's not on my shelf is because the extreme edition fits better on my shelf whith its cardboard slipcover, I also have the tin version of that too.)

And I'm pretty sure the first Disney DVD i got was Beauty and the Beast: Platinum Edition

My first Disney DVDs were Monsters, Inc., Lilo & Stitch, and Return To Never Land. I bought them all at the same time.

My first dvd was Lara Croft Tomb Raider...because I was sucha big fan of the tomb raider series and then when it came out it was only on dvd and since it was around my bday i had money so i just went out and bought a dvd player. then like 3 months later it was on vhs but im extremly happy that i made the switch to dvd.

My very first DVD was actually won rather than bought. When I was ten I entered a competition to win a Cardcaptors DVD. I used to absolutely love that show when I was 10 so I was over the moon when I learnt that I had won.

Pretty sure mine was "Salem's Lot" (the original). I had just bought a player and wanted a movie, naturally, but it had to be something affordable. I think Salem's Lot was 10 dollars at the time, and that was before cheaper DVDs were so common. I pay full price for DVDs sometimes, but I usually try to catch them on sale or buy a lot from the 5.50 bins or when there's a 4.88 sale at Circuit City and Best Buy, ha.
