Snow White DVD: Real or Fake?

I missed Snow White on DVD, so I was looking at
this auction on eBay, and I was wondering if this Australian version is real or fake. I've got a Multi Region Player, so I know that I should survive, but I'm worried that I'm gonna get hoaxed.
Hmm

The Australian Edition is Real.
I know that in Australia this came out, at least I think it did. If you want to be sure contact Loomis.

All Australian DVDs are dual R2/R4 anyway, so it won't be a problem.

Hi Wonderlicious,
I can tell you that it's a genuine Region 4 DVD.. or at least it looks genuine.
I have a copy that looks exactly like that. The white sticker with the green 'G' rating on it tells me that it comes from New Zealand where, unfortunately, they stick them to to the slick

and i can tell you it's a real pain in the butt to remove.
If you want to order directly from a reputable store, you can still get it from
http://www.dvdvideoplanet.com ... this is where i bought mine from.
The seller is right in saying that the DVD will be unsealed (but still brand new) as they have to stick that damn sticker to the slick for some dumb reason... it's already got a 'G' on it in the little triangle.
Take care and be gentle when trying to get the sticker off.
Mike.

I'll disagree slightly on that since I live in Australia. The R4 front cover of Snow White Platinum DVD is better than the Region 1 front cover but the back cover of the R4 version is quite hideous with those stone walls in the background, lol well each to their own tastes I guess but anyway again R4 Front cover is really good but the back cover of it is downright hideous.

Fake Little Mermaid DVD

I posted earlier that I was just starting to collect Disney DVDs for my
daughter and wanted to know how to spot a fake or find a reliable seller.
Well, after some research I decided to buy a Little Mermaid DVD that I thought looked alright. It was from a seller on Ebay, they had a few negatives but looked alright. Here is the auction.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... RK:MEWN:IT
When I received the DVD it didn't look quite right. The packaging wasn't
original. I was pretty sure I had a fake. It plays great on my DVD player
but I wanted an original.
I popped the DVD in my computer DVD rom and checked the information on it. It said the DVD is Region 1,2,3,4,5,6. All my other DVDs just say Region 1. Would this be a good way to tell for sure that it is fake.
Just wanted to tell my story and warn others about this seller.

Yes, sadly its a bootleg. Disney will never release a DVD that is region free.
They did however release several dual-region discs (like R4+R1 NTSC) and (R2+R4 PAL).
I'm sorry you have been hoodwinked, but as long as the disc plays OK, then at least you can enjoy the film until the Platinum re-release!
WHAT??

Hey 2099net, where do you see region free.
I just looked at the auction it sure does look authentic and it says Region 1. Not Region Free.

wow, i was finally getting brave enough to actually buy one of those Little Mermaid DVD's, and the one you bought looked so good, i would have bid on it too.
one 100% sure way to know if Fake or Real, if you still have the plastic sealed it came in, on the back of the plastic seal there should be a Buena Vista stamp on it, that will answer your question of fake or real.
there is a video store here in my town that sadly only has 1 copy left of Toy Story on DVD, and it cost $29.99 and right now i don't have that, but i still went down there a few days ago to check it out, and sure enough it has the Buena Vista stamp, so as soon i can get enough, i will go buy it. i need to hurry because i called that store 3 weeks ago and they had 2 copies left, i called a few days ago now they have just 1.
Oh

I would REALLY like to give him a negative, but I have a feeling that all that will get me is a negative in return. This seller seems not to react well to people questioning his auctions.
What about reporting him to Ebay, they claim that you aren't supposed to sell copies or bootlegs on their site. Would it do any good.
At the very least I will give him a neutral. I have emailed some of the
people who are winning his auctions right now to warn them, so I feel a little better.

that is very good email future winners, if i would have bid on a bootleg, i would want someone to warn me. and i do suggest you report him to eBay, enough complaints and they get banned.
Need help identifing a Real or Fake DVD

on Saturday I bought Toy Story 1 on DVD from a local video rental place, and since saturday i have been questioning my DVD.
here is the story, about a month ago i called this store and asked if they had Toy Story on DVD ( it was a long shot) and to my surpirise they had 1 copy left. since it was near by i drove there to look at the DVD myself. it was Sealed and in Perfect Condition, and it even had the Buena Vista Stamp on the back, but since i did not have the money, i left. on Saturday i finally went back to buy it, having seen it before i just paid and walked out, but when i got to my car, i realized it was in a different plastic wrapping and the Buena Vista stamp was gone, it was the last copy so i didn't go back in to ask questions like why was the BVHE stamp gone.
i have read previous post on identifying Fakes, this one checks out perfect, the only thing is that when i check the DVD information, it tells me Region 1,4 is that normal?
i am confident ihave an Authentic Toy Story DVD, but is there a website i could go to or place i could call to see if the Stock Number # checks out.

Hi,
Region 1, 4 are correct regions that should be there.
You should worry it when you see all regions or Region 0.
Hope this helps..

Sounds legit to me! Not every BV DVD has the little blue stamp on it - there've been a few times when the ones I bought in store didn't have it at all. Also, shrink wrap isn't always exactly the same. I've never seen this in the case of Disney, but in other companies (Par., WB), their shrink wrap will be heavier, or double wrapped, sometimes.

Thanks Guys, that helped re-assure me about my DVD.
about the BVHE Stamp, it bugged me that a month ago they had one copy left and it had the stamp, when i went back to buy it they still had one copy left, just that the stamp was gone, so it had to have been openned by someone, and that worried me. that video store still had one copy left of Toy Story 2, i want it so bad, i will probably go later today.
thanks again
