Aaron - I really want that CD, but I'd like to listen to it before I go out and put 20 bucks on it, and I can find anyone who has it on CD or MP3, which kinda sucks.
Anyways:

I felt the same way. But I was in Disney World, which only worsens my weakness towards Disney merchandise, and my I'd forgotten to recharge my iPod battery all the way and I needed some more music for the long drive home, so I decided to go ahead and buy it, even though it was higher there than I could have paid for it here. I've listened to it several times already... very good. There's a TON of Disney music woven into it... some obvious choices and some surprises. It's not exactly the list I would have chosen, but it's still a good one. I wish they would have been a bit more daring in turning some of these songs into Broadway tunes (some of them sound a bit too much like the originals), but the medleys they do (and there are a lot of them) are nothing short of brilliant. If you're a fan of Disney music and of the traditional Broadway cast musical sound, then I don't see you being too sorely disappointed in this CD, and that's from someone who wasn't even "sold" on it when he bought it. Besides, it's 2 Discs (45 tracks).
You can listen to samples on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 81-9138436 (that link supports UD too)
And also on
Disney's Official On The Record site (though I can tell you just from the samples I've heard playing over the home page, that those sound very "live", whereas the CD is much more polished... a big difference in the way they sound)
I'm jealous of your first two CDs, by the way!

The Music Exchange close to the Glendale Galleria's going out of business (since the owner's retiring) so they were having an 80% off everything sale. I only managed to find one CD I liked since hoardes of people had already ransacked the CD shelves, but my friend ended up giving me one of the CDs she'd bought (Faultline's
Your Love Means Everything) because I liked it more than she did. o.o

Sonic Youth's

Lest We Forget: The Best of Marilyn Manson (with bonus DVD)
I hope that DVD works in my player, I just found out that some people received a DVD not encoded in Region 1 in their sets for this album. I also paid too damn much for this - $25. For that price, this DVD better work (and for poor Caiman's sake).

Rock of Ages... Hymns & Faith ("Three Wishes" Special Edition) - Amy Grant (Target exclusive)... it comes with a bonus CD with 3 tracks. 2 are ported over from a previous album, and there is one all-new recording, an acoustic version of "Takes a Little Time," which is awesome. And then for reviewing...

Extraordinary Machine, Fiona Apple
Where have I been the past eight years? I can't believe I had never listened to a Fiona Apple record until this release! Besides "Criminal," I always knew who she was, but never committed to giving her a go. I'm such a moron! Yes, as many music magazines have proclaimed her, she's a musical genius and definately one of the only true artists living today. Definately my new Bjork/Thom Yorke artist fixation. The lyrics are very powerful and very well-written. The imagery they evoke is both comincal and ironical and the melodies are sublime. I eagerly await to listen to her previous offerings.

Fiona Apple is amazing, so you're saying you only knew who she was before this one record? I knew her from her first album, Tidal, because I was someone who really sensed the next Big Thing before it was big. I knew Fiona Apple was a talent from her first video, "Sleep to Dream", which was also everyone else's first real exposure to her. I had to have her CD for Christmas and I fell in love with almost every song on it. So really, I'm recommending it if you don't have it. The only song I didn't like was the final song, "Carrion". But "Slow Like Honey" and "The Child is Gone" are my favorite of her songs.
