I'm not sure how Izma's not a cat anymore. The animation was good, but something about it just didn't look right. Maybe it was because it was too smooth, like lord-of-sith said. I'm going to need more footage for me to get totally behind this sequel. The jokes just don't look funny so far.

lord-of-sith wrote:Did anybody else see this tonight? Patrick Warburton was the host for TENG. I'm not sure if this preview has been shown elsewhere, but this was the first time I have seen it. I thought the animation was close-looking to the original, but moved to smoothly. I'm also not too sure about Yzma's new hair do.
i didn't see it i watched teen titans and went to bed

I suspect that Yzma is still part cat; that would explain her new 'do and why her eyelashes now look like whiskers!

Let me get this straight? You're complaining now because the animation looks too "smooth"? Will nothing keep you guys happy?

*bangs head against wall*

(The smoothness is possibly because the DTV sequel was animated at a TV friendly 30fps rather than a cinema friendly 24fps. This when shown on TV it has no NTSC artifacts).

What's wrong with pointing out a fault such as that? People like a cartoon to be believable. The fact that this is a DTV movie shouldn't make this any different.

But if it is because people are comparing it to the DVD release of The Emperor's New Groove then it probably isn't a fault, because transferring the original film to NTSC will have resulted in additional copied frames and - thus less smooth - animation. You can't make 24fps into 30fps without duplicating frames and inducing a visual 'stutter'.

Isn't finding fault in smooth animation the equivalent to saying those SFXs are no good, they look too real? :-P

ppl complain about animé not having smooth animation all the time too!

Also if technology permited animation could be done up to 60fps (round the practical limit of the eyes motion resolution) and it could look alive..

Don't people complain about the previous Disney sequels not being smooth enough? Yeesh.

I hope Jens doesn't mind but I had read all the posts and I was on The Disney Database when I saw these pictures. 24 stills have been added from Kronk's New Groove including this one of Yzma:

Ah man! I missed Yzma being a kitten!

Oh well the pictures are still great. One of the few times I can say I can't wait for a DTV!

Why is Yzma a human again?
I hope it's a worthy sequel.

And do people actually turn into talking llamas?

C'mon, animation is not about realism, it's about caricature and exaggeration; that's what makes it believable.
