I hope this succeeds. The score was always great and deserves a fun Broadway adaptation.

Oooh, there's a lot of puppetry!!! That's exciting!

I'm super curious how the new songs will sound!

I love the set design and costumes we've seen so far. This whole production is very exciting and I really hope it does come to Broadway. I don't know if I'll be able to see it in New York, but I'd love to see it tour through Chicago!

I went on a trip to New Jersey this weekend to see my favorite movie as a Musical - and boy oh boy, I wasn't disappointed.

The characters were great, the jokes all landed, the songs were great, the changes made sense to me and I wasn't mad about anything. That being said, there are a few things that I hope they work on for future adaptions.

A few rows behind me sat Alan Menken. So in the intermission, I went up to speak with him and took a photo. He confirmed that they are currently working on the German version and that it will premiere in Hamburg specifically.

If you guys are interested I put my photo with Alan, the song list, cast and my overall thoughts in this blog: https://www.disneycentral.de/disney-fil ... song-list/ (text is German so best use deepl to translate haha). Feel free to ask any questions as well. I'm not checking this site aaaaall the time tbh but I'll see it rather sooner than later. haha

I'm so glad you liked it!! Your review said only 1-2 songs don't really fit, right? So it'll be interesting to see if those songs get worked on or replaced in future versions. And yay meeting Alan (again)- so cool!!

Interesting, this is the first time they've had an interracial romance where the male character is the person of color. I'm glad there can finally be a Black prince now. Would he be the first? Since Naveen wasn't Black, I guess? And Asha most likely will have no love interest.

Just as I imagined in several of the remake discussions, it is very powerful to have a group of Black women in the Muses singing about a Black hero, I'm glad the people in charge of the musical at least see the potential in that. I'm glad they didn't try to use racebending the protagonist as an excuse to cut the 5 Black original characters the original had like the live-action remake had considered doing.

   Wonderful article!

I just hope Disney remembers the significance of the Muses and the amazing soundtrack that is lead by those characters when making the remake. I couldn't help but find their claims of being supportive of diversity pretty hollow if they cut 5 original Black characters and one of the /only/ animated soundtracks dominated and lead by Black voice that there are (Disney or otherwise). At least the musical seems to be doing it right.

On Wednesday, the lead actor for Hercules will be announced in Hamburg, Germany, including a performance and single release (not sure if that means Streaming - but it's gonna be German anyway haha). I'll have my team at the event and share it later on probably YouTube and Insta. :)

Great performances, thank you for sharing.

Are those the actual costumes? I’m very perplexed by what Meg is wearing…

No, the costumes are still in production. :) Not sure actually if the Muses are wearing the final ones or if those are prototype ones.
