There are only two big dwarf actors in hollywood and aren't dwarfs from fantasy stories and fairy tales and real life people with dwarfism two different things ?
What is the difference between the fantasy dwarfs and real dwarfs?
I think they should do what Snow White and the Huntsman did and cast good actors but CGI them as dwarfs.

They got really told off for that though didn't they ? As they were taking jobs away etc ? Though I may be misremembering.
I'm sad that they are being brought in to do the music, I can't think of anyone less suited to the job ... the new bits in Aladdin were really poor. I think it would have been lovely for Menken to come and do something new for it; he looked to the first Disney fairytales when they did Mermaid, so that their film could sit alongside happily. Would be full circle for him to help out with this one.
But I still stand by my first choice, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Their new songs blend so well together with the Sherman Brothers. I think they could have done a superb job here.

I had no problem with
Aladdin, but I’m sure this can’t turn out worse than the TLM live-action film looks to be.

Disney would be really tone-deaf if they didn't cast actual dwarfs as the seven dwarfs. I can't imagine they would go that route.

I just can't imagine there would be enough little people who would be good actors. I don't know of any Snow Whites where the dwarfs were hailed for their acting except Disney's original.

But that movie is directed by Rob Marshall and written by Jane Goldman. So i think will be really good !
Rob Marshall is a great director and Jane Goldman is BEST screenwriter working today !

Where they really ?
Does any review of the animated Disney Snow white even bring up the voice acting ?

Oh, I'm sorry, I do not mean voice acting. I mean the very animation of the dwarfs was praised. Animation is regarded as acting on paper.

That's just one article I found on it. It was all over the news at the time. Before the press for the film was taken over by the whole affair thing.

I believe there are agencies that specialise in getting acting jobs for little people. I know Warwick Davis, one of the more well-known little person actors, started one.
For who could play the dwarfs, Davis, Peter Dinklage and Tony Cox are probably the most recognisable little person actors. I imagine it shouldn't be that hard to find four more actors to cast.

I still am not sold on using real little people. But i do agree Tony Cox is a great actor and should get more work !

If they use real little people in Snow White Than Hunchback live action MUST use a real disfigured person in the lead role !!!! Or else it would be total hypocrisy ! Ironic since Frollo is the villian of the movie and he is a huge hippocritic himself.

I agree. It's ridiculous to believe that there is some sort of shortage of talent for dwarf actors out there. And even if there aren't too many famous ones, then Disney can discover some like they've been doing for the roles in their other films. The fact that they're dwarfs shouldn't hamper the casting process at all.
@Duster: I understand what you mean that animation is like the acting of animated films, but it's nonsensical to suggest that real dwarfs shouldn't play the roles in the live-action film just because in previous SW films, none of the dwarf actors have been praised for their talents. There's literally no correlation between those two statements and frankly it sounds ableist, which I know you don't meant to come across as.

Just a correction: David Magee has revised the script. It isn't entirely clear yet if Jane Goldman will have a writing credit.

I think it's very likely they will be of different ethnicities, but I hope they don't change the gender of any of the dwarfs.
DisneyFan97 wrote:There are only two big dwarf actors in hollywood and aren't dwarfs from fantasy stories and fairy tales and real life people with dwarfism two different things ?
It's true, dwarfs from fantasy tales and people with dwarfism are not the same thing. The dwarfs in fantasy stories are usually of a different species than humans. So, in theory, they needn't be played necessarily by small people. But, there are so few roles in movies for small actors, that it would be an injustice not to cast them in these roles when they're especially suited for them.

They're very hypocritical. They only cast the right people when they fear there would be backlash if they didn't.

Not as famous as the ones you mentioned, but there's also Deep Roy, who was in
The Chronicles of Narnia or
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They just need three more.

I have mixed feelings about this subject. On the one hand, little people actors don't have a lot of work opportunities so denying them the few roles that come along doesn't seem right. On the other, relegating little people actors to fantasy roles such as dwarfs, munchkins, and leprechauns seems stereotypical, if not outright offensive and demeaning, and may actually hurt the plight of little people by furthering preconceptions about them. Ideally, more roles would be written for little people that are not restricted to the fantasy genre.
