I like Alfre Woodard, and she's a good choice for Sarabi (however much of a non-role it is).

Not to mention that she's already worked on a Disney property that also included Lebo M; Dinosaur.

This is sad.
I was honestly hoping they'd bring him back like JEJ.
And speaking of advice ... Does Sabella have any advice for Seth Rogen, the "Neighbors" star that Jon Favreau just recruited to come voice Pumbaa in that live-action version of "The Lion King" which Walt Disney Studios will be releasing to theaters on July 19, 2019.
"First of all, let me be clear here: I am not handing the character of Pumbaa off to Seth Rogen. I am just letting him borrow it for a while," Ernie smiled. "Besides, I can understand why Favreau went this route. I'm going to be 70 in a few years and Seth is 35. And just like they did with their new live-action versions of 'Cinderella,' 'The Jungle Book,' and 'Beauty and the Beast,' Disney's looking to reinvent these movies for a hip new younger audience. So I get it. I'm just hoping that Jon offers me a cameo."

The whole age thing makes no sense to me. He won't be on screen anyway more than likely. And I'm sure he can still do the voice.

The full cast has been announced. Beyoncé has indeed been cast as Nala.

yes!!! Shenzi got cast!

Im not familiar with Florence Kasumba, I'll be looking her up to see what else she's been in. I wonder if Azizi and Kamari are replacements for Banzai and Ed?
EDIT:oh looks like she's gonna be in Black Panther, cool!

Disney has also released a new synopsis for the film:
From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

It seems so. I guess they changed the names for ones that sounded more African.
By the way, as with all these remakes, the title design that has been revealed in the picture of the cast is very original.

Social media is going crazy over Beyonce's casting. I wonder if she'll have the same pull power that Emma Watson had for Beauty and the Beast. I know Disney has been trying to work with Beyonce for a while now considering they wanted her for both Aida and Beauty and the Beast...hopefully they might be inspired to actually go ahead with that Aida movie one day now.

I just hope Beyonce won't be involved with the film's music. If there must be new songs, I want them to come from the same creative team who worked on the original film and the stage adaptation (Elton John/Tim Rice/Lebo M./Hans Zimmer).

While I don't get the whole Beyoncé vibe (she doesn't come across as realistic to me and her songs are just... Beyonce) I'm glad they got on with a talented woman. Now I'm gonna be pissed if Shadowland don't get into the movie.

I think so, I believe she was just rumored for the role before.
