I was told that it's probably an older HDTV version. Unfortunately I don't think they'll restore the original logos. I do find it interesting that Hercules is the only movie after The Lion King whose logo was changed (other than some Pixar films). I guess because it doesn't have a special music to accompany the logo like the others do.

Yes, that must be the reason. It's so bad they replaced the original logos for these films. Logos are part of the movie too and shouldn't be changed. I don't think other studios do this, or do they?

I don't think that other studios change the logos.
