No coupon for the release? Damn.

Although I did just get a 20% coupon for Toys R Us in the mail, so at least I can save a little on the movie. Naybe I'm not the only one here to get one, as well.

Heads up- might I suggest picking up the movie at Best Buy? It's only $23 there this week, and comes with a free twist drum.

Also, if you buy the movie this week and enter the DMR code in, you get double points!

I'd imagine it was, since their website shows it with the gold border.

Also, Toys R Us seems to be selling it for only $19.99. The Blu-Ray combo pack.

FYI,
You can price match at Best Buy.
I pulled up the Walmart app, they have TJB for $19.96 and got the free gift as well.

Target has that book thing they do but those never appealed to me.

:)

So the Jungle Book 2 bluray has the same previews as the Jungle a Book Bluray and doesn't have the booklet, comes with DMR code and digital copy. The movie transfer looks amazing!

I had the great pleasure of downloading The Jungle Book from iTunes and showing it to my Latino 3-year-old nephew in Spanish. He's used to watching in Spanish when it's available because it's the first language he started speaking, but I also intend to show it to him with the original English soundtrack. He's grown up with what I consider to be "baby sitter shows" that are basically made to distract kids while parents take care of cleaning. He has very good books and cool toys, but my sister isn't as diligent with video content. So I was very pleased that he enjoyed The Jungle Book. It just reaffirms the timelessness and appeal of Disney classics.

I agree with this timelessness & appeal of Disney movies. Jungle Book is actually one of the few Disney movies I've seen in Spanish. I am not a Spanish speaker, but I think it's an amazing dub in terms of the voices. I loved Tin Tan as Baloo & Diana Santos as Mowgli (Yes Mowgli is played by a female in Spanish). The songs are well sung in Spanish. I actually own the Spanish soundtrack album as well. I don't know if the translation is good or not maybe you know Jack?

Kenai:

I don't know any specifics about the Jungle Book Spanish translation, I don't speak Spanish myself, but I know a few principles of translation. Especially when it comes to the songs, it's probably not a very literal translation, because the priority is to get the rhyme and rhythm right, while still keeping the basic meaning. Also, in general, most translations of movies or even writings are not strictly literal and sometimes account for cultural differences.

That being said, good translators will convey the original spirit and true meaning of the original content. I'm sure Disney has taken good care of the translation of its most treasured films.

Well, since we are on the topic of dubs....

I am a native spanish speaker, and I can attest to the brilliance of Disney Dubs. This woman, Diana Santos, who voice Mowgli, would later voice Ms.Bianca and Belle... she also happened to be the daughter of Edmundo Santos, who was the man in charge of all the Disney dubs in spanish starting (I believe) right after Dumbo, and all the way until his death. He was hand picked by Disney himself (Walt knew the importance of foreign markets, and specially knew the spanish dub would be important, since it could be used for all of Latin America -minus Brazil- and Spain).

SW, DUmbo and Bambi were re-dubbed by Mr.Santos in the 60's, so that all of the Disney classics were translated under his supervision. Except for one: Pinocchio. For some odd reason, the original 1940 spanish dub of this film was done in Argentina, and it is still used for all spanish speaking markets. Which is fine, its a great dub. The three Walt era PRINCESS movies and Lady were later re-dubbed for legal reasons in the late 90s/early 2000s. Horrible dubs.

The dub for Jungle Book is indeed excellent, and I enjoy listenting to it as much as I do the original English version.
