I hate how now they have "e-tickets" where you print them out on your own. Going to a concert isn't complete with a ticket and a stub to save in memory from the experience! Now I just have a bunch of crumbled print outs....boo.

My friend and I had a great spot in the general admission, standing-only club... we were only a few feet from the stage. The entire concert ran nearly 6 hours! Great show. I've updated my concert list at the top of the thread.

I saw Stone Temple Pilots at the fair last week. Not a bad show for $10 fair admission. I enjoyed it.

I just got back from two incredible concerts over the last week or so: Hanson and Aerosmith. I updated my first post in this thread and setlists are below.

Hanson and their opening acts put on another incredible, nearly SEVEN HOUR LONG concert, this time on the Shout It Out tour. Delta Rae and Rooney opened (really liked both their sets and got to meet both as well), but I don't have their setlists. Hanson's set was as follows:

  A few nights later, I saw Aerosmith in Tampa, FL on their Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour. Blue Öyster Cult opened but I ended up missing pretty much their entire set. Aerosmith played the longest show I've ever seen them play. Steven Tyler was really feeling the crowd energy and decided to keep extending the concert beyond the planned encore. The band literally played until the arena cut off their mics because they'd passed the noise curfew! Here's their setlist:

Dream Theater was never a band I really listened to, but I enjoyed their set well enough.

Yeah, the U.S. leg of this tour is somewhat limited, but then given that there wasn't supposed to be a U.S. leg at all, I guess that's not a surprise. I had to travel a ways to see them this time, but it was worth it, especially since my ticket to the last tour was refunded following Steven Tyler's injury.

The doors opened around 6 or 6:30 and the first band took the stage shortly thereafter. I'm not sure exactly what time it ended, but it was nearly 1 a.m. by the time we were back on the road. Granted, there were lengthy breaks in between each set, but still -- what an incredible night of music. I wish more concerts had that kind of endurance. There was a full one hour break in between Rooney and Hanson but to Rooney's credit, they warned the audience of the long break before they left the stage (I wish that happened more often too). I didn't mind the break at all, though -- I got to mingle a little, meet some of Rooney and Delta Rae, and rock out to an extensive collection of relatively obscure Aerosmith songs that played in succession during the break. I don't know why so much Aerosmith was playing, but it was great. I wonder if Hanson chose the songs -- I noticed that Isaac has been mentioning them as a musical influence for the band recently.

Wynn announces dates for next Garth Brooks shows

Tickets for Garth Brooks' next 20 performances will go on sale Saturday, Wynn Las Vegas announced today.

Fans of the country music singer can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster’s website or by calling 1-877-65-GARTH beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Tickets cannot be purchased in person at the Wynn box office, Wynn Resorts indicated today.

Brooks’ next series of dates are Sept. 10-12, Oct. 1-3, Oct. 22-24, Nov. 5-7 and Nov. 19-21. Ticket prices will stay at $125, plus taxes and fees, and will be limited to four tickets per purchase.

Tickets for Brooks’ first two series of performances sold out within hours of their release in October and again in February. Following the release of the first set of tickets in October, Wynn Resorts Chairman and Chief Executive Steve Wynn instituted an unusual anti-scalping procedure that angered fans and ticket brokers alike. The resort demanded the name of every concertgoer for each ticket purchased and said tickets could be picked up only on the day of the show, with photo IDs being checked at the door.

That policy is still in place, according to a press release from Wynn Resorts.

Brooks will return to Las Vegas on June 25 for a set of weekend performances. He’ll return again July 16-18 and Aug. 6-8.

The country music star announced he would be coming out of retirement for a five-year stay at the Encore Theater in October. Brooks began his first performances in December.

Well on August 24, 2010, I saw Maroon 5 on their Hands All Over Tour with opening acts VV Brown and "American Idol" winner Kris Allen. This was my second time seeing Maroon 5 -- the first was in the fall of 2003, before Maroon 5 had much of a following. It was very interesting to compare the two concerts, with the band having now risen to the tops of rock-pop stardom. The show was on a small college campus in a small venue with small crowds. That all surprised me but there was still plenty of energy, and we had great seats.

I didn't know much about VV Brown before the show (I was vaguely familiar with her one big single) but she wasn't at all what I expected. She wasn't exactly bad, but stylistically, she was all over the place. I was kind of put off by the whole thing. Because I don't know her songs, I didn't take down her set list.

Kris Allen was great (I'd supported him on "Idol" so it was cool to see him in concert). Here's his setlist:

The Kansas State Fair has a gigantic final weekend planned for entertainment. Those who really want to see Selena Gomez in concert will pleased to know that she is closing out the Fair next Sunday night, September 19.

The fair opened this past weekend with Foreigner, and last night we went to see Terry Fator, the ventriloquist who won America's Got Talent two years ago and has been packing them in in Las Vegas at his own showroom.

What is really good is that a ticket to the concert also includes admission to the fair.

Went to Seven Clans Casino in Oklahoma to see Heart in Concert. Tickets were only $25 and they were the only ones on the bill. They played for over 2 1/2 hours and didn't miss a hit. The tour is in support of their new album "Red Velvet Car", and Heart hasn't skipped a beat in the last 10 years. Ann and Nancy Wilson are great show people, and including all the encores they really played nothing but the hits. Opening the show with "Bebe Le Strange" and ending the show with "Barracuda". When they came back for their encore it was the best of all the cover tunes they have done over the years including "Love Reign O'er Me", "Misty Mountain Hop", "Black Dog", and "Rock and Roll". It was truly one of the best concerts I have seen in the last 10 years.

A couple of weeks ago my son-in-law and I went to Heart live in concert in Oklahoma at a Casino in Newkirk. They were on support of their new album "Red Velvet Car" and they played for just under three hours. They were the only band on the slate to play, and they didn't disappoint. Opening the concert with "Bebe Le Strange", and after closing with "Barracuda", they returned for an encore that included "Love Reign O'er Me", "Misty Mountain Hop", "Black Dog", and "Rock and Roll". For just $25 it was money well spent to see one of the best Rock and Roll groups playing right now.

I've seen a few shows since last posting here and have updated the first post in this thread accordingly.

First, I saw Delta Rae open for Rooney and Eisley. The band was nice enough to comp me with press tickets and I attended for a review. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to stay for Rooney and Eisley's sets. Next up, I saw David Gray on the Lost and Found tour, in support of his Foundling album. I've wanted to see him for a long time and it was well worth the wait. This was billed as an acoustic concert but it was only slightly stripped down and subdued; I found it a perfect arrangement for his musical style. Opening for him was Lisa O'Neill, a very talented but unsigned Irish folksinger/songwriter that Gray found from a coffee shop and handpicked as his opening act. I loved the show and can't wait to see Gray again, hopefully in a "regular" (non-acoustic) setting next time, for purposes of comparison.

Finally, I saw Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith this week. It was the kick-off performance of the second leg of their very successful, sold-out 2 Friends Tour. I saw them at an outdoor venue and had a private dining table in a very nice, raised, covered VIP seating section. There were dining options and restrooms exclusive to this seating section, as well as a waiting staff, so it was one of the nicer concert experiences I've had (especially for an outdoor, summertime show -- something I'm usually not fond of). The meal included sweet potato waffle fries and funnel cake fries! Delicious! The concert itself was very good, featuring substantially more of Grant than Smith, but I suppose that makes sense for several reasons. The highlights for me were those songs that I'd never had the chance to see Amy perform live before.

Thought I would update this as I now have officially purchased tickets to Dave Matthews Band (May) and Fiona Apple (June). I'm extremely excited, as these are two of my favorite artists and I have not yet been to either of their concerts.

My friend and I also plan on getting tickets for us plus another friend for his birthday to go see Foster the People, Kimbra, and Tokyo Police Club in Philly in June, and my other friend and I are debating going to see Lana Del Rey in June as well.

Should be a busy summer for concerts, and I am ecstatic!
