Welcome, FilmMkr. I think most of us agree he should be on there somewhere, it's just a matter of where and how big.

I think that in all PE releases, the title character needs to be the central focus:
Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs - Snow White (Ok, so the Dwarfs are title characters too, but they are secondary in the title, and there's 7 of them!! And they still make it on the box)
Beauty and the Beast - Bell and Beast
The Lion King - Simba, since he is the Lion King (you could argue for Mufasa, but come on).
Aladdin - Aladdin, right????
Bambi - Bambi, right???

They may run into some problems with the Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations, but until then, I say stick with this policy.

Yeah, there's no question that the main character is going to be feautured on the cover, No one would ever argue that point. The thing is, the Genie was on the box, and they took him off and left Jasmine, Jafar, the Cave of Wonders, abu, and Iago. If anyone besides Aladdin deserves to be on the cover, it's the Genie whether he's someone's favorite character or not. So, of course the main character is going to be on the cover, what's at question for me at least is in their choice of who else is getting on the cover *with* the main character.

As I stated before, I think Eisner didn't like Robin's routine at the Oscars so that's why he was removed. The only other thing it could be is that archaic percentage rule that was abolished when Williams signed up to do The King of Thieves. There were posters on the Disney World shuttles that only had the Genies face and the date of release way back when. There's no other logical explanation. I could understand if they were doing some arty symbolic hands on the lamp cover (like the gift set I think..) but it's the standard old force-as-many-characters-on-the-cover-as-we-can format we've grown to love.

And then there's my favorite reason:

It's not the final cover. They're still working things out.

I did like someone's idea about a lenticular cover :D

maybe? That would rock.

Yeah, but my point is that Genie isn't the main character (or a title character)

New artword from DISNEY ITSELF !!
It's very similar to the one we already had but not exactly... Don't know which one they'll choose...
Personally, I think Genie is missing here....

Not too new. It was posted on Page 5 over two weeks ago. ;)

I kinda like this one. It's nice, simple, and the genie isn't too big (he isn't there at all).

And for 101 Dalmatians, I liked the original Black Diamond cover. I just hope they have 15 puppies. If you can't have all 101, then just have the original 15 + Pongo and Perdy.

Here is the Brazilian coverart and it has the Genie on it (presumably, the US version will have him too):

By the way, it seems this is the ultimate version of the coverart and it looks damn ugly! Well, as long as the DVD is good...
