My gut tells me they will stick with March 15th, have TRON / TRON Legacy out on March 29th (since it's fading faster than expected at the US box office) and stick with The Incredibles / Cars reissue on April 12. That will give them a good two-week break in between each big release.
Cheers,
JM

March 29 has now been confirmed as the official release date. It is listed on the Disney Store website and Amazon as such.

Tangled now officially checked out of the three packages on 29 March.
I am very disappointed that all three are similar to the packaging design
Why can not you make a different design Cover
http://disneydvd.disney.go.com/tangled.html # 43 666
But I am very surprised and happy to see very strong and shiny colors, just different from the cinema screen
Look at the Trailers and put emphasis on a few colors are strong and goats

Wow, again they use bad screen caps. The second one (with Flynn tied up) is HORRIBLE!

Standalone DVD with no standalone blu-ray or 3D blu-ray? Despicable

I don't mind the one with Rapunzel and Maximus, but the fact they still insist on locking the disc makes it impossible for me to get this anyway.
Hope the Dutch one isn't locked to one region only...

Toy Story 3:
1/3 of first week units sold were BD.
A format in only 21% the number of your households, DVD, did 33% of unit sales.
Your penetration is nearly 5 times that of BD, but you only doubled BD's sales.
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland:
37% of first week units sold were BD.
Iron Man 2:
52% of first week sales were on BD.
That's a straight-up upset loss.
Inception:
Lord, it almost hurts to say it.
65% of first week sales were on BD.
That's what we'd call in my neck of the woods a good old-fashioned country-boy ass-whuppin': that's a percentage point away from BD outselling DVD 2:1.
While I won't dispute your numbers (even though you haven't sourced them), Avatar: Extended is your only example that holds any weight, since all of the other titles had DVDs bundled with their Blu-rays. You could just as easily state 100% of all copies of some of those titles sold were on DVD. Well, I don't know the breakdown on Inception between pure Blu-ray and Blu-ray combo packs, but I think at release date, most would be the latter. And yes obviously people are often spending a few dollars more to get the combo pack than they would be to get the DVD alone, but there's just an amazing amount of misconstruing done to pretend that Blu-ray is more popular than it is (or that it's anywhere near as popular as DVD these days). For instance, I'd be interested in second week and beyond sales comparisons.
Thought that it's relevant - The Social Network just set a BD record of 45% with no DVD or Digital Copy.

'Tangled' Home Video Press Release
http://animatedviews.com/2011/get-caugh ... c-details/
Grossing over 400 million dollars in global theatrical sales to date, TANGLED, The Walt Disney Studios blockbuster animated feature that takes a modern twist on the famous hair-raising fable Rapunzel, debuts as the ultimate 4-Disc Disney Blu-ray Combo Pack (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy in a single package) on March 29, 2011. As the 50th full-length animated feature in The Walt Disney Studios’ celebrated library and the first animated feature film to ever debut day-and-date on Disney Blu-ray 3D, TANGLED’s uniquely packaged home entertainment release ensures that viewers of all ages can enjoy this film on a variety of superior, hi-def media platforms while diving further into the history and quirky details behind the making of this film via amusing and informative bonus features.
“Disney’s spirited re-telling of Rapunzel in 3D animation turns out to be a dazzler.” Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
“‘Tangled’ has all of the qualities we look for in an animated Disney feature… Bravo!” Leonard Maltin
BONUS FEATURES — Blu-ray:
Untangled: The Making of a Fairy Tale – Exactly how long is Rapunzel’s hair? How many lanterns were used? Where did Pascal’s name come from? Which Disney animated feature first utilized CG animation? These and more will be answered when Mandy Moore and Zach Levi take viewers on a kooky behind-the-scenes tour to learn how the filmmakers styled this film’s Golden Tresses.
Deleted Scenes – Co-directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno introduce three scenes and illuminate why they were ultimately cut.
- The Jaunty Moose
- Chemistry Develops
- Vigor The Visionary
Extended Songs – The complete versions of two great songs are shared in a unique feature that explains the co-directors decision to scale them down.
- When Will My Life Begin
- Mother Knows Best
Two Original Storybook Openings – Two alternate versions of the film’s opening sequence described by co-directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard.
50th Animated Feature Countdown – A video montage celebrating Tangled as the 50th film to join The Walt Disney Studios’ prestigious lineup of classic animated features.
9 Tangled Teasers – A collection of the most unique and quirky commercials made for the theatrical release of Tangled. Some are spoofs based off of infomercials and/or breaking news, some are teasers and others are simply just funny filmstrips.

^I was there were more, at least they included everything I really wanted to see.
The only other feature I can think of are art galleries.

I am glad they are including the 50th Animated Feature Countdown. After seeing it on YouTube, I had hoped for a more "permanent" version, so I am happy it will be included. I wonder if it will be in HD?

I'm very dissapointed that the blu ray won't have a audio commentary.

As the movie has done / is still doing so well for Disney ..... may it be included towards the end of the Diamond line ? If the original home release does well of course.

Sounds like some pretty awesome bonus features! I wish it included something about the scraped "Rapunzel Upbraided," maybe one of those "story book" openings will... though I'm doubting it.

That's an interesting idea, but that would probably give it a re-release date (as a Diamond) of Spring 2016, following the last 2 releases in 2015, Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio. I am not sure if they would re-release the film only 5 years after the initial release, unless they vault Tangled really quickly, which I don't think they will do seeing as though it's a modern film.

I find this to be pretty odd for a Disney U.S. release. They've never featured a foreign version of a song on DVD in its entirety before, right? They've only used some bits of foreign versions of songs and that just as part of a multi-language reel. Now we're getting the whole music video of "Il Mio Nuovo Sogno"; isn't that strange? And why just the Italian one?
The only exception I can recall is with the "Mulan: Special Edition" DVD which included the Mandarin version of "I'll Make a Man Out of You" sung by Jackie Chan. And that made sense since the film is about a Chinese myth in a Chinese setting. What's the connection of "Tangled" with Italy?

Hercules' DVD has a Spanish language video of "Go the Distance" called "No Importa La Distancia" sung by Ricky Martin.

Tangled had the potential to have REALLY interesting bonus features instead of... mmm what we had:
* Long making of feature, covering the 'Rapunzel unbraided' concept and other rejected ones
*Concept art galleries, there's serius gorgeous material in this respect for this movie!
* A full featurette only about the hair animation process
* Picture in Picture with storyboards, concept art, rough animation and of course audio commentary
* A featurette about the cast
* A featurette/Interview with Alan Menken and his return for a Disney Musical
* Deleted songs, like 'my forever'
* Merchandise and publicity galleries
* Featurette/Interview with Glen Keane
* Featurettes about every character, their conception, creation and animation
* A Pascal and/or Maximus game!
* A Game with Flynn

BBFC is primarily for UK releases, most of us US'ers use the classifications simply to learn what supplements are being included on a release and how long they are, since it's more reliable and accurate than Disney press releases. Still, I'd love for the Italian music video to be included. Maybe it's an easter egg?
And I second the list that PheR made. I want all that on a
Tangled Blu-Ray rather than what we're getting.
