I meant more along the lines of the total, unadulterated, perfection that is 21st Century Disney.

Something about the desription of Pascal in that summary piqued my interest. I thought he would be more akin to, say, Abu. But it seems we have a Flit-type on our hands.... Could be quite interesting in the context of this film, with how naive our protagonist is, and all.

^Yeah, definitely interesting.
And I take back my last post.

I just made the old to new comparison because the subject of alcohol seems to be much more taboo in recent times . . . while I do see them still depicting alcohol without issue I don't see them allowing characters to get drunk anymore, especially the good guys. Another example is Tarzan . . . they could let him hold the drink that Clayton gave him but he couldn't actually drink it.
Heh, and remember when the Disney heroes weren't allowed to have facial hair? I know that changed with
Hunchback but I still think of it every time I see Flynn.

Not Disney's fault. There are certain things that Tarzan is not allowed to do, according to the Burroughs family, the actual holders of the copyright. Drinking alcohol is one of them.

I know, it was in the commentary wasn't it? I didn't say it was anyone's "fault."

He could have just not liked it. I mean, having only started drinking wine recently, it's an acquired taste.
But yeah, copyright yada yada.

Yeah, it was. I just assumed that you meant that it was Disney who decided that good guys shouldn't drink alcohol. If they had been allowed to, maybe he would have taken a sip. I think they said as much in the commentary.
You're right, though. I don't think a Disney hero has gotten drunk in a while.

Unless Buzz is considered a Disney Hero.

It's alright, he only
acted drunk, there was no actual drinking involved (unless you count imaginary tea).
Er, wait . . . Unless you were talking about that curly line on his chin? Don't mind me, I confuse easily.

And a pub in a Disney film? interesting..............
and throwing in a couple of pub thugs to pump up that testosterone level. No word of the evil female witch though...
btw, you can see a storyboard drawing/color sketch of Rapunzel standing on top of a table in a pub, arms spread as if she's singing, surrounded by bulky, rugid men who are raising their glasses and wear viking helmets...
Yep!Nothing like a beer to pump up that testosterone level

But what would happen to Rapunzel if Flynn's drunk?

She'll have a hard time.

Okay that last sentence there is disturbing if its taken the wrong way
Anyway.....that what happens to your mind when you watch too much comedy central or Jon Stewart like I have been latley
I need Leno back now.....he kept my mind cleaner
Okay continue the discussion.....Disney's Rapunzel and Exotic Beer with a Bandit

Oh, I'm sure Rapunzel can take perfectly good care of herself. We've seen how she uses that magic hair of hers.... It's Flynn I'm worried about, to be honest!

Rapunzel or Tangled

robster16, don't forget also that Disney apparently changed the title because people in other countries didn't know Rapunzel, but the other countries are going to change whatever title Disney gives them anyway!
And I think the focus should be that the original creators worked on this film to be Rapunzel, and then Disney marketing changed it to Tangled, a name the creators of the film don't even like.
Good luck with answering the questions! Look how far you've come with your petition, what a great, valiant job!

It's OK, Disney Duster. Maybe Rapunzel will wake up in the end and find out that she only dreamed that her story was called Tangled, and that it's really called Rapunzel.

Maybe
Tangled will earn itself a PG rating for "pub antics" in the same way that
Alice in Wonderland has for, among other things, a "smoking caterpillar."
Which makes me think of how some studios in the 80's would actually toss adult things into a movie just so they wouldn't have to carry an embarrassing G rating (since it apparently scared off a lot of potential movie-goers). I doubt they'd really go for that here but with them looking desperate to make changes to attract more of an audience (and the fact that many Dreamworks titles are PG) you never know.

I'm not 100% sure why, but that reminded me of the random gags related to Orwen's boobs in TBC.

(Of course, I'm sure that isn't what got that movie the PG rating so much as being pretty creepy with the cauldron born scenes and the death of the Horned King....)

Long before I was able to see the movie for myself (I was pretty obsessed in the early-mid 90's), I remember reading that the scene in question raised some eyebrows. Poor Fflewder . . . I wonder if he'd be tortured like that now.
