I got the Tangled soundtrack yesterday, $13.99 at Target...it wasn't on sale (but I knew that it wasn't in the Sunday ads), and it wasn't even with the new releases!!!

Yeah, my mom loves Barbra, so I knew that it was the perfect gift for her. I'm glad it's the best set. I check around a little bit, but I figured that since it was at my closest Target that I would just get it for her. And, of course, I will also copy all of the songs onto my iTunes as well (gotta have me some Babs

).

My only gripes with the set are that pretty much everything before "The Way We Were" was mastered a little too "hot" and therefore suffers from a little distortion during the louder portions and that there aren't more live tracks and stuff from a couple of overlooked albums I enjoy, but when compressing 40 years and approx. 50 albums into a two-CD 40-track set, later expanded to 3 CD's and 49 tracks, albums are going to get overlooked - period.

But this is pretty much the best overview of her recording career you'll find - all five of her US #1 hits are here and all but one of her US top 10 singles as well. ("What Kind Of Fool" with Barry Gibb, for some odd reason, was left off.) The third CD in the 3.0 re-release also makes this collection more up to date with the inclusion of tracks from The Movie Album, Guilty Pleasures, and Live In Concert 2006 - the original version was issued in 2002, when her last non-Holiday studio album was 1999's A Love Like Ours.

I just got the New Broadway Cast Recording of La Cage Aux Folles with Kelsey Grammer & Douglas Hodge. It's fabulous but the 1983 Original Cast Recording will always have a special place in my heart!
