Mine was lion king PE. That's what got me in collecting disney movies. I'm still not sure what made me buy buy it, maybe I missed my childhood memories but I'm glad i picked it up because disney movies are great movies.

Mine was Toy Story 2. I bought it before I even had a DVD player (I know I was getting one for Christmas) so all I could do with it until I got one was stare at the cover

I wish I had been smart enough to get Toy Story 1 as well, but since the SE is coming out I'm not going to kick myself.

My first Disney DVD was
Monster's Inc. because Blockbuster had this deal that if you bought a card that would let you rent movies for 10 weeks, you'd be able to get Monster's Inc. for free when it came out on DVD. Even though I didn't have a DVD player back then, I decided to get it on DVD because I knew at some point I would have to replace all my VHS's so I didn't want the same thing to happen with Monster's Inc. I'm glad I got it on DVD instead of VHS.
As for my first DISNEY movie(MI was Pixar) it was Treasure Planet.

My first Disney DVD was Toy Story 2 back in 1999. I'm not sure why or how I got the DVD, I was only about eight years old.

As funny as this is gonna sound, my first was
The Watcher in the Woods
I saw it at Target for $14.99 and it had been one of my favorite movies when I was younger, so I picked it up. I got really nostalgic for movies I hadn't watched since I was little, so shortly after joined the DMC- which just made me go even further since I got 6 when I signed up!!

My first Disney DVD was also my first DVD I purchased. I was with my wife and the day after Thanksgiving sale at Best Buy in 1999 buying a DVD player and picked up three DVDs to go with my new player. (I was a Laserdisc buyer until 1998 when I realized DVDs were winning the videodisc war. I still have the player because I still have all five Golden Age Of Looney Tunes and The Complete Tex Avery. Got That Warners.)
The three discs were:
Lady And The Tramp
Yellow Submarine
A PD copy of The 39 Steps.
Love the first two as my sons love the dog movie and enjoy Beatles music.

In 1998 DVD had not yet convinced me. It took more Disney and more other classics before I got my first DVD in 2000 - Tarzan CE, that so many here are so sorry they didn't get.

Snow White was my first one. It was one of the first few DVDs I had bought, as a matter of fact. I didn't have a DVD player at the time (I was still watching them all on either my PS2 or my computer), but I felt I NEEDED to get Snow White.

Mine was TLK, which my mum bought for me when it came out, then i had an urge to get BATB (at this point i didn't know anything about Disney DVD, so i didn't know anything about the vault) I searched on Amazon, and was confused why they were so expensive, then i found this site

and then found it the day after in MVC

, the only copy i've ever seen in a shop to date!

My first was Monsters, Inc. At that time I didn't buy many DVDs at all. It wasn't until last year after I got Aladdin PE that I really started to collect DVDs.

My first Disney DVD was actually my FIRST DVD! It was Tarzan... no special reason though.

My first Disney DVD was Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I bought it during a period when I wanted Disney movies but since I had a limiyed budget and I was going through one of my 'I love Atlantis' spells I bought it... the collector's edition that is.
The second DVD was the Goofy treasure, then the first Mickey Mouse in black and white, then The Black Cauldron. I can't name anymore since collecting really increased after that.

Not sure if I replied to this or not, and I don't wanna read seven pages, so my first Disney DVD was the Vault Disney Collection 2-disc edition of Swiss Family Robinson.
My first Animated Classic, though, was Aladdin PE, which I won in the DisneyDatabase contest.

My 1st Disney DVD was the Fantasia Anthology Set. I bought it because Fantasia was the movie that inspired me to become an animator. Still to this day it's my favorite DVD. I watch it at least once a month.
The commentaries on both Fantasia & Fantasia 2000 are really interesting, the "making of" features are great, & all the other bonus features are great as well.
For those who don't have it, I suggest you should buy it. It's a great addition to any Disney DVD collection.

Since you mentioned Fantasia Anthology, I think that was my second DVD. IMO, the "Clair de Lune" piece alone is easily worth the price of the whole set.
