Does anyone have any pictures of the packaging yet? I know we got pics from jrboy of the packagings of The Tigger Movie, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and Pete's Dragon early.

Sounds like not much is "enchanting" about this re-release! UD's review seems spot on and is very honest and objective.

All I can say is why did Disney even bother with this re-release? They clearly weren't aiming to satisfy the diehard B&B fans (like myself) and people who have never seen the film would be more likely to purchase the cheaper older release after reading a review like UD's. Perhaps it will help clean out their inventory of the older release, who knows?

Finally, this is about as bad a case of double-dipping as you can get: an "upgrade" which is inferior to the original release! A blown opportunity if I've ever seen one....

It was probably done Darby to further phase out the Gold Collection line. Even if the spine of the packaging was the only way to know it was a part of it. Unfortunately for us fans, we got a worse release, disappointing since Pete's Dragon's new content was clearly aimed at us.

After reading the UD review of the new release I am so glad I didn't buy it & held onto the previous one. :D

Same here. I'm keeping my 30th Anniversary Edition and skipping buying the new one. Gonna spend the money on Up instead.

The 30th Anniversary Edition is great & pretty loaded. I had a feeling they wouldn't match it. As with the Tarzan SE, Emperor's SE, Dumbo Big Top & so many others the newest version is definitely NOT the best. Disney is the only company I know of that puts out so many double dip editions which are inferior to their predecessors.

In honor of Friday the 13th, the D23 website has posted a very cool article of 13 facts on the film.

Great article, Disneykid!
I kind of laughed to myself when I read that the opening title sequence was based on the Bayeux Tapestry.... I just came back from a pretty intense quiz bowl match (our team won! :D ) and that was the answer to one of the questions they asked. I didn't know it, but I would have if I had only checked UD before going to the match! :P

We studied the Bayeux Tapestry in highschool--tried to point out the "Bedknobs" connection to my history teacher at the time but he never believed me. We also used to argue over the "Anastasia" case. :D
