OMG, just watched the Fantasia/2000 trailer and its looks amazing. Its so incredibly respectful to the legacy and triumph that is Fantasia. Fantasia 2000 looks amazing in HD and I think they may've used the new restoration for Fantasia, as it looked great to. The sound was pretty good but I'm really excited to hear the new HD soundtrack with the restored picture.

It should be noted that they are advertising these together, as in one large release but maybe they'll be separate, IDK. It advertised a bonus feature called Fantasia World featuring never before seen short films. Could this be One by One, Lorenzo, and The Little Matchgirl, in addition to the previously announced Destino? I don't think its Clair De Lunem as thats more of a deleted scene then a never before seen short film.

I'm even more excited now. They didn't advertise it as being UNCUT, but lets hope thats a given

There is no link, watched in on BDLive (took about a half hour for it to load and then download the darn thing). Sorry I can't help you but its great, especially if you can watch it in HD.

After re-watching it, I noticed it said Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, the Diamond Editions (as in two separate releases) PLUS Fantasia World. Now does PLUS mean Fantasia World is a third disc with the shorts or a separate release with the shorts (I'm hoping its an extras disc)?

Can't you rip it and upload it on youtube or something? :( :(

Fantasia World may be the third disc in the Fantasia Anthology boxset, Fantasia Legacy. I just hope they have not omitted any special features of the Anthology release.

And not advertising it as being uncut is also worrisome.

Well, judging from the release of "Snow White," this isn't going to be a perfect, definitive release. For all the blu-users out there, there'll be plenty of shiny new bonus features that will make you forget about what you've lost from the anthology. For everyone else... That's why Amazon exists! Mine will probably be here in somewhere between 1-3 weeks! :D

Oh my gosh, are they really prepping James and the Giant Peach for Blu-ray? This is one of my favorite films, Disney or otherwise, and I think it deserves more attention than what's it gotten. I'm hoping to God it gets a collection of supplements at least half as good as Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline's. This actually excites me more than the Fantasias, probably because this is out of left field whereas we've always known the Fantasias were coming.

I hope it's two different releases. I HATE combo packs. I wanna see this trailer so bad, I have a Blu-ray player but it's not BD Live capable.

Coming Soon was all we got. I'm wondering if they've decided yet as they continue to be vague on all their trailers. This is something I hope they clear up at CES.
Disneykid wrote:Oh my gosh, are they really prepping James and the Giant Peach for Blu-ray?
I saw James and the Giant Peach on there but just assumed it was already announced and I just wasn't paying attention (it's not one of my favorites). Maybe I'll check out the trailer later but knowing how long it took me the last time on my Blu-ray player, I may just wait untill its online.

I really wish I could rip this off my Blu-ray player but I wouldn't even know where to start, sorry. I'm sure it won't be long before its officially released. Maybe they are saving it for CES.

I'm just so syched to find out what Fantasia World is, as it said its featuring never before seen short films. I'm hoping this means One by One, Lorenzo, and The Little Matchgirl, in addition to the previously announced Destino! I just think it talking about never before seen animated short films means its more then just the Fantasia Legacy disc (I just hope it retains most of Fantasia Legacy's extras in addition to the new shorts).

It is, indeed. It puts most Platinum DVDs to shame, and has always been on my shortlist of the five best DVDs for the DACs. Honestly, the only issue I have with the Fantasia Anthology set is the censorship, but really, I'm not gonna let a few seconds of altered footage (or Corey Burton re-recording all of Deems Taylor's narration) affect my enjoyment of three discs that contain two excellent films and hours of documentaries, featurettes, commentaries, galleries, pencil animation, alternate story reels, deleted animation, trailers, informative text cards, etc.

Easter Egg: When the James trailer narrator mentions that Burton produced Nightmare Before Christmas, the focus of the shot is on someone who looks eerily like a certain someone we know. :P

It looks like 2010 is the year for Disney Blu-ray. I mean, we get B&TB, fantasia, Dumbo, Alice(it's a given), J&tGP, The Toy Stories, and possibly even the Black Cauldron and the Great Mouse Detective! I'm drooling!

I'm extremely excited for these releases. Ever since I was a child Fantasia has been one of my favorites (which seems rare amongst most children). I also loved Fantasia 2000. Maybe Fantasia World is going to be about the cancelled Fantasia (2006 or 8?). It'd be neat if it had concepts of the pieces that were supposed to be involved.

I am a bit bumbed that we havn't gotten any cover art or trailers. It makes me think that it's not coming as soon as we think, but who knows really...

2010 is indeed going to hurt my wallet. I got a BD player for Chirstmas this year so I've used most of my gift money and gift cards on Disney BDs. It'd be great if TBC and TGMD were going blu, but there has been no mention of it from BVHE so I doubt they will.

About the old Fantasia set, I saw it used recently for $80 but that was way too much for me. I'm curious what bonus features will be on the new releases as well. I hope they put enough as the old set isn't going to be a cheap buy to purchase for the bonus features. At least with Snow White I was able to buy the Platinum for $12.99 (Which I highly recommend to anyone who can get it.)

I'm really not a big fan of Fantasia, but if it is released as a Diamond, then I will buy it. (I'm collecting them all) But if it is released as a Diamond, what does that mean for the future of the Diamonds? There was no Fantasia in the Platinum editions, and if the Diamonds are a re release of the Platinums, then is there just going to be one more, or is Fantasia going to bump someone out of the cycle? :?

Thats what I was thinking. I'm hoping this means One by One, Lorenzo, and The Little Matchgirl, in addition to the previously announced Destino! Hopefully Disney's not steering us in the wrong direction with these assumptions.

Well we got the Fantasia trailer. The problem is both the Fantasia and Beauty and the Beast trailers just say Coming Soon (neither have released cover art either). Dumbo says this spring (and has released its cover art), which either adds to the credibility of a two Diamonds for a Fall release or they just haven't made up their mind on when to release them yet.

Who knows but I'm hoping everything is set in stone by CES.

Unfortuantely Aladdin got the bump. Although this might be a good thing as Disney recyles extras on non-Platinums more and they release them more frequently. If they just took Aladdin's Platinum and ported in to Blu as a special edition (it was a perfect Platinum), I'd be good with that, especially if its sooner then later :D

Oooh! Now I'm even more excited! I can't wait until it gets here! I think I got fairly lucky, too, since I found it in a "like new" condition (according to Amazon, we shall see) for about $68.
