No, because I was busy running to the next event, but I met Paige O'Hara and Don Hahn over the summer, as well as Jodi Benson, and I bumped into Paige O'Hara one night on my way to see Sleeping Beauty so I talked to her a little bit then as well.

So is this 3D release still happening? I'm surprised to have not heard a single thing with regards to advertisement or media hype if it's coming out soon. Thanks for any input!

It's been post-poned to late 2011, to make it a twentieth anniversary release, just like the IMAX re-release was a tenth anniversary release.

Okay, even more confusion. I know that it's only IMDb, but they've still got this listed for Feb 12th. Hmm...

Not only that but Launching Films UK says that the film will be released during June 2010. And a site that I used to look at for upcoming movie release dates states that it's gonna get released on Febuary back home.

Exclusive: Don Hahn on His Disney Animation 3D Projects
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=64300
Having produced Disney's award-winning classic Beauty and the Beast, we asked Hahn for a status update on the plan to convert the 2D animated musical to 3D for release in 2011, the film's 20th Anniversary.
"We just finished it a couple weeks ago, it's spectacular," he told us. "I think it's one of the benefits of doing 'Beauty and the Beast' on CAPS, the animation computer system, was that all the artwork was stored on levels, so that we could go back and dimensionalize it, turn it into a 3D movie. I can't say it was easy, but with a lot of help from Pixar, and a lot of brainy software writers, we were able to create some software that was able to help us convert it into a 3D film."
He even commented on the chances of seeing some of the other movies featured in his documentary being converted to 3D for theatrical re-releases in the future. "Obviously, 3D is a huge deal these days, and if 'Beauty and the Beast' works, which it does. It's glorious in 3D, I think we'll probably take some of the other premium titles and turn them into 3D as well."

Exclusive: Don Hahn is Waking Sleeping Beauty
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=64414
CS: They showed a little bit of it [Beauty and the Beast 3D] at ShoWest last year, and I was wondering what was happening because it was supposed to come out this year and I think it's gonna come out next year now.
Hahn: Next year is the 20th anniversary, so I think it's probably gonna come out then

Downstairs in the big, first-floor theater, Diz Co. was showing the 3-D version Beauty and the Beast to employees. I snuck in the back with polarized glasses and stood against a wall taking it in.
The Three Dee works like gangbusters. Subtle, compelling, it doesn't look like some kind of cheesy add-on technology at all. (Hand-drawn dimensional features can be effective.) The entire picture is done, but won't be released until 2011.

Beauty and the Beast 3D Teaser Trailer
http://www.laughingplace.com/Latest-ID-74984.asp
A thought just popped into my head: Does anyone think that it's interesting that they're rereleasing a film that was last rereleased in 2002 (it was 2002, right?)? Do any of you wish that or think that it'd be smarter to have rereleased a film that hasn't been in the theater in a long time, like
Aladdin,
Pocahontas, or THOND?

Interesting that New Zealand is getting it a year and a half before the rest of us. Oh, well. I'm still looking forward to this. I've seen Beauty and the Beast on VHS, DVD, IMAX and will most certainly be getting the Blu-Ray. I can't pass up the chance to see my favourite Disney animated classic again on the big screen in 3-D.

Is it just me, or does the animation in that trailer look...different? I think it looks, dare I say, a bit smoother and more subtle than it originally did, almost as if they added in new frames in between the original ones or something. Maybe it's just the HD or something; I don't know. It definitely looks beautiful, regardless.

Wow, that was a really beautiful trailer. I love Celine Dion's version of the song in the trailer, too. I'm jealous of New Zealand now.
Is America still getting this?

is this still going to happen? I am shocked.
But I doubt Europe/Holland will be getting this...and I will never get to see it...

BatB is extremely popular, that's why it got the IMAX release in the first place. Now Aladdin might still be popular (except for the fact that the PE didn't sell well) but the other two aren't. Or at least not nearly as popular as BatB.

^ That's a good point, about the popularity. Good point.

(I hadn't been thinking along those lines!)

Wow I am so Glad children and families of todays age can experience BatB like we did back in the 90's

It's fantastic that they can add 3D effects to the movie to please the growing list of 3D Supporters !

Well, then they should re-release
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in IMAX, because it is the most popular Disney film of all time.
Comparing initial release only,
Tarzan outgrossed
Beauty and the Beast,
Aladdin came close to doubling the gross of
Beast.
Pocahontas grossed about the same, ditto
Lilo and Stitch.
All of this is, of course, not adjusting for inflation.
