You are very welcome, I'm glad you love them.

I wouldn't worry just yet, Pluto Region1. The post office is bad about not updating their tracking information. In fact, the tracking information for the package I mailed JC91 still says it's waiting to be mailed, and JC91 already has it! Also, media mail can take anywhere from 1-14 days to get where it is going despite shipping estimates. I wouldn't worry until 14 days have passed, then you should take a print out of your tracking information to the post office.

I just opened my mailbox, and, lo and behold, I had a package from my Secret Santa! Thank you sooo much, Just Myself, for "Sky High" and "The Princess Diaries 2"- both in Widescreen, no less! And thanks for the homemade card, and for mentioning Bobby in it! I'm so happy!

I really appreciate it, and Merry early Christmas!

Wow, so it's just sitting at the post office of your Secret Cindy Lou Who? Hmm...maybe the mailperson left a notice on SCLW's door saying "You have a package, come pick it up", and the SCLW didn't pick it up yet.

Will this do?

That'll work! I forgot to check the 2nd page of emocons. Well, the people at my work (yes, I've now breached this subject with a pool of secretaries) have said that 6 days during Xmas for media mail would be ridiculously optimistic. And get this- in my town they have cut back Saturday service at post offices to just ONE in my area - and because of that, it was a mad-house on December 1st! I can only imagine what it will be like this Saturday.

Well that is a relief - thanks for posting. My current M-F/8-5pm job doesn't really give me an opportunity to go to the post office during the week... and if I wait one more week, it will be a mad-house on the 22nd. I guess I can wait until after Xmas. They will not do anything to help me until it has been a full month (see story below). I shouldn't have stuffed the box and made it so heavy - then I could have afforded to use priority mail. (lesson learned)

Has it ever happened in the history of Secret Santa that the post office lost someone's gift?

I had this happen to me once as an Ebay seller (this is a good story)- lets see if I can tell it without ruining it. I sold some vintage dishes on Ebay, and I sent the box out to the winning bidder, insured, for about $50. I live in California and from what I recall, the nice lady who bought the dishes, she lived in Washington state. I had a policy of making the buyers always pay for insurance just in case something like this ever happened. So a few weeks later, the recipient emailed me to say, "I think you made a mistake. I received your box today and in the box was a Spanish book." (the book was written in Spanish - it was like a Spanish language novel). Well, I questioned her - she said it had my address label and her address label affixed to the box. Now how in the heck can that be?! I didn't even own a Spanish language book.... Of course the box was insured, so I put in a claim. You have to wait about a month before they will consider an item lost. Well about a month after I put in the claim (so 2 months later), the post office notified me that they found my box of dishes sitting at one of their transfer sites (somewhere in the South) - so what appeared to have happened, was my labels got slapped onto this box with a Spanish Book inside. Who knows what they were planning to do with the dishes. Maybe they were waiting for someone to make a claim?! The whole thing was weird. Ever since then, I make sure I put packing tape completely over the "to" and "from" labels.

No, but there was a case where it was sent out in early December, but wasn't received until a couple days after Christmas. I think it was when T/P fan sent to disneyfella, but I'm not sure. Cause all of us were waiting impatiently for it to arrive at disneyfella's door, so we could declare it a 100% successful Secret Santa year.

Still no gift on my end, but I'm sure it will come soon enough. :)

You're welcome. The estimated arrival date I was given was December 17, so you should see the package sometime next week.

I don't know, but its been a good story all these years. I can tell you another one about a guy who was in England trying to buy a Misfits record from me... (his payment sat at a post office unknowingly for a month, while the 2 of us screamed at each other via email) but that would really get us off track.

The way things are going, the Disneyland Treasures tin I just broke down and ordered from Amazon 2 days ago, is going to arrive at my house waaay before my Secret Santa recipient ever gets their package from me. (I got notice last night they shipped the tin.) That's assuming the Post office hasn't lost my Secret Santa gift.

UPDATE: OMG, I may have to take that last paragraph back.... you're not going to believe this! I just checked the status at the Post office website:

"Your item was processed and left our (city withheld to protect the innocent gift recipient) facility on December 13, 2007. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."

Xmas is saved!!! Hurray!! This calls for some pink elephants!

:pink: :pink: :pink:

I bet it gets delivered in the next couple of days. Whew!!! Saved from a fate worse than death (i.e., waiting in line at the only post office open on Saturday in a 7-mile radius)! :D

Hooray for you! I was wondering how long the wait was at the post office? I bet it is a total mad-house at the only post-office w/in reasonable driving distance here - and that post office is only open a half-day on Saturday.

For me? There's a contract unit in the used bookstore by my house. I walked up, paid and was gone within 2 minutes. :D

Well the bad news as of today is that after putting in the delivery tracking number at usps.com, I get this message:

"Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site."

What the heck is going on? I guess I will wait a few days to see if the item gets delivered. Maybe a USPS employee deleted my tracking number?!

So today was my last day for finals and I breezed through them faster than it takes a virgin to undo her girdle on her wedding night, and afterwards I had to stop at the DMV to get that gorram "provisional" taken off of my driver's license (cost me $19.50...as if 20 minutes of waiting for the new ID to print costs that much.). When I got home I decided to make myself a peanut butter sandwich, because I haven't had peanut butter sandwiches in awhile and I was in the mood for one. As I was making the sandwich, I was contemplating how I would celebrate the end of the semester, and decided that I'd watch a DVD.

I went upstairs to browse my collection, thinking about which DVD to watch. I wanted a feelgood movie that I was already familiar with, and one I haven't seen in years. Inspired by the Sleeping Beauty thread that I posted in during the wee hours of the morning, I initially picked up Sleeping Beauty, when I decided against it. It wasn't the right mood for Aurora and company. Somewhat surprisingly, I picked up Cinderella, which I last watched a couple months ago, but wasn't really paying attention. I figured I'd settle down with my peanut butter sandwich and watch Cinderella, with my complete attention.

Anyway, I'm nice and comfy on the sofa and enjoying the scene where poor Gus Gus had taken too many of those little orange kernals (cheese?) and kept throwing them all over the place. It's one of my favorite scenes, especially the part where Gus Gus inadvertently walks into Lucifer and makes that "Huhgh?" sound.

Right when Lucifer was about to give his roar, the doorbell rang and someone knocked twice. And it wasn't the polite knock either, it was the POUND POUND knock that you expect when a landlord is demanding rent money and you're hiding in the closet pretending you're not home. Anyway, that bell/knock really annoyed me and I was thinking, "Geez, what kind of bastard knocks like that? They better leave or I'll turn on the sprinklers..." I was half-expecting it to be some kids down the street or someone trying to squeeze charitable donations out of my pocket. Or, if worst came to worst, a Mormon coming to turn me away from sin. I've got nothing against Mormons, but I'm Roman Catholic and likely will remain that way the rest of my life, so I wouldn't want them to waste their time trying to get me to learn about Brigham Young.

Anyway, I figured I'd go see if whoever was at the door was still at the door, and of course, when I got to the door...nobody was there. It would have been freaky except that it wasn't night and there weren't any claps of thunder or lightning. Or scary "dun dun DUN!" music. But, I digress. Nobody was at the door, and so that pissed me off a bit as I was really enjoying Cinderella and hated any kind of interruptions. But, I look down and see there's a small rectangular package. At first I think it's my parent's drugs. No, not THOSE drugs. Medicinal prescription drugs which come in sealed white plastic bags and sound like rattles. Then I'm thinking, "Hmm, it must be those little prayer books we bought for that church thingy", since we got those in that package before.

So I pick it up and see it's for me. I'm thinking, "When the hell did I order anything online?" Then I'm thinking, "And why would I use UPS?" Then, of course, I realize, "Oh, it must be Secret Santa!" I look in the corner and it turns out my Secret Santa is none other than my Secret Cindy Lou Who from last year, The Little Merman!

I immediately open it, expecting a large cloud of dust to emerge, and to my extreme disappointment, there was no cloud of dust. Pity, I always wanted to be able to sneeze because a cloud of dust was thrown in my face. Hmm, maybe I'll just go open a vacuum cleaner bag and stick my head in it.

But enough about that. It turns out that instead of a cloud of dust, there sat a nice sealed copy of Ella Enchanted! :D :D :D :D :D

Needless to say, I promptly let out a rather fanboy-ish "Oh My Gawwwddd!" and even jumped a couple times in glee. Thankfully the house was empty, so no one saw me.

Anyways, thanks so much, Matthew, for Ella Enchanted!

But now I'm faced with a rather serious predicament:

Should I finish Cinderella or should I start watching Ella Enchanted?

(The answer, if nobody's figured it out, was to do neither and instead come here and make a nice long post about it. But of course, now that I'm done with this post...I'm back at that same predicament!)

(Oh yes, and I had neglected my peanut butter sandwich as well, and I'm finishing it up right now.)

:pink: :pink: :pink: :pink: :pink:

Scapsta

PS - James Marsden called. He wants to know if you know the words to "I Got You, Babe", as he needs someone to sing it with him for Karaoke night. ;) Leo and I are gonna do a rap version of Moulin Rouge's "Elephant Love Medley". :P

LMAO Es, so I was writing a letter to put in the box at the UPS Store and the lady was like up my ass, looking over my shoulder and what not. So when I ended with "Happy Stalking" I figured I'd just throw it out. But I'm glad you loved the gift! :D

So anyways, I received my package a day or two ago and I adore both of my gifts! I was given both Clueless and The Sound of Music, which I was planning on buying soon anyways, so thanks a lot Santa!

P.S. I think my gift giver was dvdjunkie? I'm not sure. I thought I recognized the state.

P.P.S. My new crush is James McAvoy. Just throwin' it out there.
