my chicken is infected wrote:^ Jean Cocteau's version of B&TB is an absolutely exquisite piece of filmmaking. Visually breathtaking, especially for a film made in Europe during WWII when materials were in short supply and CGI was decades off. The visual effects rival some of today's biggest CGI epics, in my humble opinion. Definitely catch it, it's worth a look or five.

Now I'm really interested.

I've also noticed these Disney movies popping up on Hallmark Movie Channel lately (and in HD).

And it's definitely worth watching. Searingly memorable performances by its cast - especially Ms. Taylor and Sandy Dennis, who won well-deserved Oscars for their performances.

I hate the movie, personally, even though I respect it. A lot of talent. A lot of madness. But in the end, signifying nothing other than a giant gaping emotional black hole. It's the like the forerunner of those Lars Von Trier movies that drive people up the wall.

Hello,
Turner Classic Movies launched a high definition version of the channel, showing the same programming as its standard-definition channel.

Happy for both versions of THOND - I think that 1921 version is the one with Lon Chaney.

I'm sorry. I accidentally listed THOND as 1921 but the actual year is 1923. And that is the version with Chaney. I'll fix that.
I also put the incorrect time for Oliver!, but I've already changed that.
Sorry that I made all these mistakes.

Where do you live?
If in the UK, here's the schedule-
http://www.tcmuk.tv/listings.php
If in Canada, here's the schedule-
http://www.tcm.com/schedule/index.jsp?s ... ST&cid=CAN (although it looks as if they air the same movies as the US)
If in Mexico, here's the schedule-
http://www.canaltcm.com/tcm-clasico/programacion/diaria
And of course a google search will bring you to whatever TCM schedule you're looking for.
