Yeah, I don't think the HD-DVD format will have an effect on an animated movie. --; It can't get anymore defined than it's drawn. Live-action movies, on the other hand, can.

For more information on this subject, see the Blu-ray DVD subject in the off-topic forum. Anyways, returning to the subject.
It's too bad that I missed out on Toy Story as they're the last 2 Pixar movies I require. Hopefully they'll break the rules and release 2-disc editions of each soon.

Not completly true, because the transfer on the disc (the way it is shown on TV) is about 525 lines (NTSC PAL:540), the HD will show 1080 lines (if I am not mistaken).
So for live-action and animated and CGI there will be a difference.

I hate it when movies go into the vault, cause that means I have to wait about 7 years untill I can get that copy.
Is this also for Studio Ghibli?
"Back In The Vault" List?

Is there a list somewhere of when the currently released DVD's go back in the vault? I'd really like to know, so if one is scheduled to "go away" and I don't have it, I can get it in time...
Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing.

It'd be nice to know, because it just seems one day they are "gone". I have in the past seen ad's like "get it now because it's going back in the vault". So I'm assuming they actually know when this is going to happen, hence there should be a list somewhere.

No word on that.
Because we'd all be freaking out about it and
Luke would mention it on the front page.
I remember saying that somewhere...
oh yes: <a href="

The 'biggies' that are discontinued are always done so with plenty of forewarning and coverage on the site. The DVDs that 'quietly' go out-of-print are also covered on the front page, the title listings, and make their way to the
Out of Print list. Not too long ago, there were some of the latter, while the big batch of deletions is usually announced in the fall for the end of January of the following year.
<i>Aladdin</i> (and probably its sequels), <i>Alice in Wonderland</i> Masterpiece Edition, <i>Bambi</i>, and the Classic Cartoon Favorites will probably all be going away sometime in the near-future. Those are either the 'quickly'-discontinued Platinums or were specified as being available for a limited time only.

Hey Luke by the classic Cartoon movies do you mean the ones say and starting Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, ect.

I have an idea that
Bambi will actually go out of print during the summer of 2006. The October platinums normally go out of print 16 months after their release, so I'd presume the same would happen with the March platinums. So, I think that
Bambi will vanish sometime during the summer (possibly 31st August, even though that will mean an 18 month availability window unlike what I suggested

), along with another title.

Yes the Classic Cartoon Collection, says Available for a Limited Time only on the shrinkwrap. They are cute dvds. But if you alreaddy have the treasure sets don't buy them, because they include the same shorts.

Thanks, didn't see that thread before I posted this one.
I know they tell us about the Platinum Editions, but I'm more worried about the Gold Collections dissapearing before I get them w/o notification. There are my Gold ones I doubt will ever go to PE or at least not for many years and I'd like to get them before they dissapear.

Yes, I agree..They should announce when Gold Collections go OOP!
I bought Robin Hood just in case it ever does go OOP!
..I keep wishing for a 2-Disc release (Special Edition, Masterpiece Edition, "something-else-fancy" edition [who knows what else Disney would come up with.

]) of
ALL, if not MOST Gold Collections.

Robin Hood, Pete's Dragon, both should be released in some other form than Gold Collection w/some extra's at least.
Also, Fox and the Hound. I need to get that and Bedknobs & Broomsticks in case they go OOP.
I noticed the live action never go back into the vault, or most of them don't. I should however get Pollyanna, just in case.

Someone said the Vault Collection was discontinued, does that mean we soon won't be able to get them?

It's unlikely that we'll see any Gold Collection DVDs discontinued unless there are plans for a new release. That's how it's been so far, more or less. And otherwise, they'd be announced.

I wish they would do away with the multi year cycle and the vault. Just keep'em all out on the shelves or bootlegs will hurt sales.
Is Bambi in the vault already?

Hi everyone, I was just at Walmart and the sales manager told me that they didn't have anymore Bambi DVDs because they could have been put in the vault. I thought that this was quite odd because it was only released this March.
Does anyone know if this is true and when Bambi is going into the vault?
