Why?!! "The Hobbit" is a really good book. Trust me, I had to read it for school. It can be boring at time, but overall it's a really good epic. I think you should pick it up and try it again.

Still working on "Wicked." I haven't been able to read it in awhile. Luckily I can check it out again for another month

I read a pair of books - Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce. I"d never read her stuff before, though I have a friend that raves over her books, but I read these and LOVED them. I'd recommend her to anyone that likes stuff like Harry Potter

I am currently reading "Wicked" in preparation for seeing the musical. The book is amazing, I'm going through it rather quickly!

I just finished "The Music of Dolphins" by Karen Hesse.
It is SUCH a beautiful book.

She wrote "Out of the Dust" which is a beautiful book, too.

Just finished reading "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire. It was a really good book, I am excited to see how the musical adaptation will compare. Next book on my list to read (that I just picked up today) is called "Clown Girl" by Monica Drake.

Reading the now OOP No Depression: An Introduction to Alternative Country Music. Whatever That Is. book, although I've just noticed reprinted under a different title, collection of articles on alt.country bands since the early 1990s. Fascinating read.

I've also got Chuck Palahniuk's new novel ready to roar - Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey.

I read that book just before Wicked! It was pretty good, not his best, but decent. Are you a fan of Chuck Palahniuk's work? I started a thread here for him a couple months back, but nobody contributed anything to it.

Reading A Wizard from Earthsea, by Urusula K. Le Guin. I had previously started this book, but got off track. I plan now to fully read it, then start on one of the 10 other books I have on my shelf and have not read.

I just recently read The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold. What a wonderful book. I highly recommend everyone to read this.

I read Night by Elie Weisel.

Today I just started and finished Animal Farm, by George Orwell ,which proves to be a great book, and I hope everyone also gives this a read. It was excellent.

I'm now starting to win the Pulitizer Prize winning book of 2007, The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

i'm reading Frankenstein for summer reading for English IV and then we're required to read one book of our choice. i'm thinking of reading a classic like The Hobbit for the second one since i don't want Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to be it since i would have to read it in a couple days to finish it.
for summer readin for English III we were required to read a controversal book called To Kill A Mockingbird which i think is the most boring, atrocious, language spitting, and dull i have ever read and i have read quite a few books from dr.suess to stephen king and gregory maguire. then we were also required to read Our Town as our play reading.
to me Frankenstein is a million times better than Mockingbird and whats worse about Mockingbird is the movie which i found even worse and i saw it in English II at my old school, heck i thought Scout was a boy until she came onscreen in her dress since she looked more like a boy.
