So the wolf scene.... I double-checked with the novelization but it was what I thought it was..

Aurora and Diaval are watching Aurora from afar as she is inspecting the thorn wall. This is the 'curious little beastie' line. They hear some rumbling and see Stefan's men with a broken down wagon, chopping down a tree to replace the wheel or something. This pisses Maleficent off. Meanwhile Aurora is drawn to the noise and is spotted by the men. When they confront her, M steps in and puts Aurora under the sleep spell. She then tells Diaval to bring the men to her and turns him into the wolf. He chases them down and herds them back to M who flips them all up in the air and lands them unconscious

In short, not a battle scene. I can really match up much of the footage released so far to the books and they are not in sequential order which should be no surprise.

From what you have described it's still a fight scene of sorts, and it's interesting that Maleficent isn't just protecting Aurora here, but she's angry that the knights just chop a tree because of a missing wheel. I can't wait to see that scene visually on the big screen! :D :D :D :D

In Maleficent, it's that Maleficent surrounds the Moors with a huge wall of thorns. Aurora finds herself drawn to the thorns more and more as she ages. Why? It's what thorns do.
What do you mean it's what thorns do? I thought people didn't want to touch thorns...

Oh, you're definately right that she's almost evilly enjoying attacking the guards, but like you saw what I'm saying, it's still in defense, not as The Mistress of All Evil.

most people don't want to prick their finger on a spinning wheel either, but when you got the inexplicable hunger for it, thorns are a good substitute

There is a Maleficent tumblr pag and if you click on the right circles you can see 6 pics. I wonder if it's concept art or photo's. I would think the first, because they look 'painted'-y.

I like the second one (bold is beautiful) of a (young?) Maleficent sitting and staring in the distance. The third one (magical world) is definitely a young Maleficent.

I posted the fan Facebook page that had those pictures and I agree, some of them are "painterly". I hope an "Art of" book comes out.

The music by James Newton Howard is really great here, and even though this is a stretch but from the trailers and the music heard from the audio, it's sounding like as if the christening scene is ment to be the opening part of the film from the way that Maleficent's "reveal" was staged. I guess the main titles themselves play before that scene (ala Alice In Wonderland).

Jolie is great here as well as the other actors.

After hearing the audio of the christening scene, I'm now more convinced than ever that Jolie is perfect for the part of Maleficent. I have a question though. Does anyone know when the soundtrack will be released?

Probably a week before the movie opens.

Oh well, all good things come to those who wait. It's interesting though that the farires and Stefan don't know each other whereas in the leaked script, they did have a history together and they hated each other.

That's one of the major things that was changed. If you recall in the script (or at least as I recall), Stefan was the illegitimate son of the fairy king and a human who lived with the fairies, so he and Maleficent grew up together. Now, with the removal of the king & queen of fairies, Stefan is simply a servant who lives in the human world who stumbles upon the Moors. I believe then, really only the tree guards and Maleficent have direct interaction with him. The fairies may know of Stefan and his history with Maleficent in the film, but he wouldn't have known them for sure.

I believe I touched upon that earlier.

Interesting, however if the three fairies knew Stefan then why did they introduce themselves at the christening scene?

I didn't say they did know him. I speculate they could have known of him. But he would not have known them. He only associates with Maleficent. Other fairies are wary of humans to begin with because of all the wars. They only go to Stefan because they figure it's better than living with Maleficent.

Good point. I don't know about you but I think Thistlewit (played by Juno Temple) is really adorable, both voice and apperance.

Thanks for the reply! :D I saw that amazon has a 2015 Maleficent calendar. Sadly, they didn't include any artwork yet, but it will be released this July.
