i am really excited after seeing this track list! what is most impressive is that seconday characters are getting their chance to be part of the ensembles (Madame de Garderobe, Cadenza and Plumette); glad to see their roles fleshed out a bit more.

After looking at the trailers, and the more "realistic" take that the film seems to be taking. Does anyone else feel that the "objects" now that they are enchanted, have certain magic that helps them in their "chores/duties"? For instance, "Be Our Guest", I seriously dont think that every knife, spoon and plate will be an actual servant; however, the staff can control these inanimate objects. Thoughts? Also, look at how Garderobe seems to dress Belle with the ribbons of fabric.

All jokes aside, I do like how Belle's dress moves when she dances with the Beast in the trailers. I think that will be a magical scene for sure.
I so agree with your whole post! Belle's yellow dress just doesn't cut it to Cinderella's or the original animated Belle's like it should.

That was probably the case with the original movie, too. All those objects were probably not all castle staff before. But in this live-action film, yes, definitely, the enchanted objects can magically make things happen.

I don't think she knew he used to be human. I think she merely pondered what the painting and the rose meant but I doubt she could have figured "Oh he used to be human and now needs to fall in love before the last rose petal falls." I think in the original film Belle had an idea there was a human soul in the beast but I like that in this movie she may be way more sure.
I’ve always thought she didn’t know it, too. Though, to be honest, I’ve never given it too much thought. In that scene I just assumed Belle doesn’t discover it because when she’s about to see the entire face of the prince in the painting, she gets suddenly distracted by the enchanted rose and seems to forget about the painting. She also seems quite surprised at the end when the Beast turns into his human form and almost can't believe it's him at first, as if she had never thought he could’ve been human once. But I suppose it’s also possible she could’ve realized it when she saw the picture or later thinking about it, or at least that she suspected something. She knows about these kinds of enchantments after all; in the book she reads at the beginning there’s also a prince in disguise. It’s more difficult though, that she could’ve guessed what the rose was for. In any case, I think is not completely clarified in the film whether she realizes the Beast was a human or not. Maybe the directors left it open to interpretation.

By the way, the new version of the Beauty and the Beast song is not bad, but more than a new version of the original song, it seems a cover of the 90’s pop version. Even the choice of the performing duo seems to imitate the pair of singers of that song. One black male singer and a rising female star. And what happens with the song titles? Now For Evermore has been retitled as just Evermore.

His French name is Big Ben in the original animated movie too.

Only Mrs. Potts French name changes in the 2017 remake : her name was Mrs. Samovar in the original movie and Madame Samovar in the 2017 movie.

The musical at Disney World is going to start becoming like the live-action movie. For example, they're adding "How Does a Moment Last Forever" and for now, it's a pre-show. Also, HDMLF is about Belle's mother.

In Spain Cogswoth is called Din Don. I suppose he's called that way because of the sound that kind of clock does. He's the only character in the film that has a name which is different from the original or its equivalent in Spanish. Speaking of that, I know Lumiere means light in French and Mrs. Potter is called that way because it sounds similar to pottery, right? But what does Cogswoth mean?
Mmmadelon wrote:Really like that IMAX poster, I'm curious now if the ballroom ceiling is really that damaged in the movie too.
I think those columns don't belong to the ballroom, so maybe the poster features a collage of different spaces from the film and that ceiling is not from the ballroom either.

It's a pun. Clocks are full of cogs and gears.

So there's gonna be a piano character, huh? At least it wasn't Maestro Forte, hahaha! :D :P

The backside of David Koenig's Mouse Under Glass cites that Belle was almost supposed to live with her mother. Though the book itself never has a proof of this, at least it's a slight indication that there was consideration to give a Belle a mother.

It's obvious that these live action remakes are redeeming the lack of a mother-rut. But at least it's a legit place to redeem them.

I agree, except I don't think she connected the "prince in disguise" part and I think it's lazy to leave what Belle thought up to interpretation. All we needed was one scene where she says, "I think the Beast may have been human before" or "I think the Beast is human on the inside".

As has been said his name is Cogsworth because clocks have cogs in them. And it's Mrs. Potts, not Potter.

Oops, sorry! I know is Mrs. Potts, it was a spelling mistake.

Well, I don't think she connected it either, all I say is that it may be a possibility. She knew that happened in fairytales, but the adventure she was living was real life for her, so I guess in a situation like this something like that wouldn't be so easy to realize.

^ It's curious that he already had the idea of making a live action remake of the film. And also that he wanted it to be an expanded version of the animated film and a musical. The prophecy has indeed been fulfilled.

Thanks for posting! It seems like we get to see the first glimpse of the prince turning into the beast in that first spot.
