It's not a movie still; it's simply a reworked concept art piece. Disney has done that before.

(they're both from Stitch Kingdom)

and I might add they're both actually scaled down quite a bit from the original in my possession.

Really? It looks so convincingly like a legitimate still.

That concept art is gorgeous and it's refreshing for Disney to design the main male character to have a big, bulky build compared to the likes of Naveen and Flynn.

Yes it reminds me of Bastion, one of the earliest designs for Flynn from Rapunzel. Bulky and large in stature, although it looks like Maui would have dwarfed him. It's refreshing to see characters with different shapes and sizes although I doubt we will ever see a heroine differ in composition.

He isn't the love interest though. As far as we know, Moana won't have one. Which isn't a bad thing, imo.

Still salty that Bastion didn't happen. And then we got Flynn to make it doubly disappointing.

Sorry to nitpick, but have you forgotten about Kristoff?

Well, we might get actual footage a lot sooner than we thought:
Animation – Show Floor Exhibition

For the first time ever, Pixar Animation Studios is creating a Show-Floor experience at D23 EXPO. Pixar teams up with Walt Disney Animation Studios for an unforgettable adventure that showcases magic from both animation studios, featuring live demonstrations, presentations, and autograph signings with top filmmakers, free giveaways, and interactive displays. With highlights from films like Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Zootopia, Finding Dory, and Moana, animation fans will get the inside scoop on their favorite films and characters.

Ummm...since the footage will be in the WIDE OPEN with huge crowds, I'm pretty sure we're going to get a lot, a lot of leaks. The spot has to be secuitered as heck to prevent leaks of footage

Just like WiR at D23 2011 & BH6 at D23 in 2013. These were not leaks. That's what they were there for. For show.

Now THIS image of Rapunzel at D23 2009 was a leak!

I actually like that one quite well. It was when I was starting to warm up to Rapunzel's design, which left me unimpressed at first. Although I started to join these boards in the fall of 2009, I remember the first image that I saw of "Tangled" was this one at the beginning of 2010; http://beafunmum.com/wp-content/uploads ... 24x597.jpg

Moana might get a title change. Disney’s EMEA and U.K. studio marketing VP Lee Jury referred to the title as tentative at Disney’s CineEurope presentation in Barcelona.
For the Polynesia-based animation Moana (which Jury said was just a “tentative” name), due out towards the end of 2016, footage of the main character was shown. “It’s a coming-of-age story,” he added.

I'm sure "Moana" is too feminine for Disney marketing...
