Don Hall is helping out on Moana.
Q: It’s Monday morning and you have a whole week ahead of you, but professionally speaking, what do you have on your slate? What have you got to do this week?

Don Hall: Well, Chris, my fellow director, is off on his sabbatical and hopefully spending some time with his family, and our producer, I think he’s on a sabbatical or maybe he’s on jury duty, I’m not sure. But I’m actually helping out on another film. It’s not Zootopia, but the one after it.

Q: That’s Moana?

Don Hall: That’s right. And I’ve offered to help them out until my sabbatical and I’ve actually got to pitch a scene to them this afternoon, so I’m storyboarding and helping out on that film. And loving it, by the way.

More evidence that Dinah could be Moana

EDIT: Notice that the voiceover coach is also following Ciana Pelaki

Or she will sing the song in the end credits. There is always that.

I doubt they've already picked a pop cover artist at this point.

Actually, jazz could be right. Clearly, it's too early to record the song since the songs could be changed or added on much later (like For the First Time in Forever), but in this case, Dinah is the most famous Polynesian pop star, thus most qualified to sing the credits song. And Ciana isn't even close to be famous enough to be the singer, minus her stunt on America's Got Talented.

And Neverland, yes, i'm rooting for Ciana too. Her voice sounds just like a Disney heroine and she's the same age as Moana.

I like her talking voice, but I really don't like her singing voice.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's bad, but it is not distinctive enough for me.
I think i've mention here before how my favorite of the princess songs come from Ariel, Belle, Pocahontas, and Elsa. And I think the fact that these actresses have such distinctive voices really help in that decision.

Should Moana be concerned?

I don't think so. It's way too early to see if Trolls will be a huge hit or not (depends on the marketing, like a lot of DreamWorks animated films).

Honestly, I think as long as Disney Animation keeps making acclaimed films with appealing characters and slapping "From the creators of Frozen and Big Hero 6" on the trailers, they should be doing fine.

That new Dreamworks logo plus tagline...

rotfl

no marketing in the world is going to save the position they're in. Their movies suck. Fix THAT.

The tagline is simply awful. I cringed when I saw it. I like the new logo though. And isn't it odd it no longer says DreamWorks Animation but just DreamWorks? Does that mean that the live-action DreamWorks Studios is changing its name? They were contemplating doing so last year.

It's getting increasingly harder to defend DreamWorks since they insist on releasing promotional material like this.

Let's wait and see how the KFP3 teaser turns out, hopefully better the awful KFP2 marketing.

Moana has nothing to worry about. You just take one look at that poster and you know why Dreamworks isn't doing well.

The tagline under DreamWorks is unnecessary, but as a teaser poster, I don't think it's bad. I still can't see them making a compelling film out of that property, but DreamWorks surprises from time to time, so I'll never rule anything out.

That said, yeah, there's no way Moana has anything to worry about, at least in terms of DreamWorks or Trolls.

Yep. The other Revival films didn't worry about Dreamworks:

Not even this?

In any case, I like the new logo but the tagline is a bit crap. I think Dreamworks really need to get their act together, though. Not all their films are unwatchable, but most of them are quite childish and a bit crass. In all honesty, the state they're finding themselves in is an obsessive Disney fanboy's dream come true...

Forget DreamWorks. Moana should be more concerned about this future blockbuster:

I think if The LEGO Movie taught us anything it's that you can make a strong and well-written film out of anything. And this does have the writers of Kung Fu Panda involved.

We are going to get a song at the Expo:
After meeting the Emotions inside the mind of an 11-year-old, taking a trip to San Fransokyo where a boy genius and his robot save the world, and falling in love with a queen with icy powers who wants to “let it go,” come see where Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios plan to take you next. In what has become a D23 EXPO must-see, host John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, presents “Every Story is a Journey.” Filmmakers will unveil never-before-seen footage from Pixar’s upcoming The Good Dinosaur and Finding Dory and Disney Animation’s Zootopia and Moana. The event will include surprise announcements, musical performances, and appearances by the films’ star voice talent. Cell phones, cameras and all recording devices will be checked for this presentation.
