Haha I'm in the same boat... I seriously sat here and thought and thought about it. I don't get it.
King...Diamond...royalty...geddit? (At least that's what I think 2099Net means).

That's irony?

I feel stupid now. I have no idea what the joke was there.

If I have to guess, it's just 2099net letting out his prideful superiority mode over "those evil gajin Amurikkkans! LOL "

It's not funny, but I THINK it has something to do with The Lion King being set in Africa, where there are diamond mines galore?

That's the only association I can come up with.

No, what I mean is what a grand, self-important, some would say perhaps, pretentious, title far what is basically a release with so little effort put into it.

For ctying out loud, no matter what you think of The Morning Report, they couldn't even be bothered to use branching to present both versions of the film. And let's not even go into the stupidity of this Second Screen nonsense when Disney used to do perfectly satisfactory Cinexplore viewing which were available to everyone. Yes, even now, despite relying on it so much Disney can't even be bothered to roll out their Second Screen functionality outside the US - or indeed onto Android devices (remind me again who happened to have the biggest holding of Disney shares?)

And while I'm not against the Virtual Vault idea in principle - it is a good way of including older features when the main disc is full, here it's used cynically. The new features are not pushing the limits of disc storage and the vault itself has many 'classic' DVD supplements missing.

It's ironic that Disney choose to label this crapped out release as being the best of the best when so many of their 'normal' release just one year ago were so much better."

But of course the ultimate irony of Disney's hype and marketing is that they have shamelessly titled the DVD only release with just one special feature as a Diamond Edition too.

It must be a joke. But the joke is now over, so can we have our real Diamond Edition now please Disney?

^ I guessed sort of right even though I didnt type it down lol

It's now the whatev's "Cubic Zirconia" collection set to give you perfection in picture quality & unsatisfaction in bonus features & cover art!.... Only for a limited time (;

I know it's unnecessary but I just had to say I saw the DVD cover in stores and I thought "Oh, they just the cover to a much, much better...oh, it's the DVD cover, not the Blu-ray." It is an excellent cover, once of Disney's best. Wouldn't they want to give the Blu-rays the better covers to sell them more? But I honestly think this is Disney's plan:

Give the Blu-rays titles on the sides and huge character faces so the kids (the youngest and most "buy me this!" of them can't even read the title) will recognize and like them more than the DVDs, therefore possibly selling more. Too bad it's still a crappy idea that is probably more harmful than good because it looks bad to anyone.

A couple of days ago The Lion King finally has been put for sale in Spain.

Seriously, I can´t believe what they´ve done with this edition.

...and they have the nerve to call it Diamond Edition.

Besides, I can´t believe Disney did this to their most wanted movie.

PS

At this point, I´m glad Aladdin was left out of the line.

Ooooh, you'll start a fight with that one. I'd say Finding Nemo, IMO.

Talking about Animated Classics.

I´ve never considered Pixar as Disney films.

By the time the Little Mermaid comes out they'll be back to having "FULL COLOUR DISC ARTWORK" as a special feature, and that'd be the only feature too.

So, did we ever get an official explanation on the Mufassa cloud formation removal? Ive been holding off largely because of that. Was hoping to hear about them replacing discs or coming out with a fixed version of it. Or at the very least some lousy excuse, or admitting that it was a mistake.

Good question. It makes zero sense to me.

Seth Rogen Meets Rafiki
http://omg.yahoo.com/photos/top-shots-o ... 57206.html

Seth Rogen bumped into Rafiki from "The Lion King" at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Saturday. Rafiki didn't look quite as excited as Seth. (11/26/2011)

Ive noticed timon doesnt have any arms in the end of his hula dance... has this always been the case?

That along with the missing cloud wth. Disney is like 1 for 7 in their 'restorations' imo. (sleeping beauty is good in my book)

Timon's arms have always been like that. I think it's actually his elbows and his hands are behind his head. Not a restoration fault.

Currently watching this movie on ABC Family, which I'm assuming is using the Diamond Edition transfer. I noticed that the characters and backgrounds seem to have a bit more depth to them.

And speaking of ABC Family, have I told you that they choose the worst times to cut to commercial? :x

Why don't you just watch the Blu-ray...
It'd look much better than it would broadcasted on cable, and no commercials...

I do watch it on Blu-ray. It just happened to be on TV at the time.
