Once again, I apologize, not only for wasting your [UD members] time but also for any of you who never noticed it before I mentioned it and will now forever notice it/be bothered by it. I honestly was just inquiring as to the quality of my Blu-ray disc and never imagined it was a filming error (just didn't think you got those when filming one cell at a time).

I think the best thing to do is to exhume Walt Disney's frigid body and ask him if he remembers there being some ghosting or if it was those adjustment-happy color-tamperers who removed the color pink from the Blu-ray release.

I watched a video featurette on the restoration of The African Queen and it explained how ghosting and or halo effects could occur when the 3 strips of technicolor films were begin spliced together and they ended up not begin properly aligned. In this case it wouldn't be a filming error but a processing one.

But it's so much easier to blame the restoration work without thinking/research.

I saw that same featurette on the restoration of The African Queen and it has to be the best I've ever seen. The Bambi and Gone With the Wind featurettes never got into that amount of detail. Really makes you appreciate what they do and just goes to show its not all automated.

Question to anyone who bought the movie + book combo, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for it? I know some stores got it in stock and seeing there were coupons for Snow White, I'm curious as to how much it came to. Also, did you have trouble finding it in the store or did you have to get it online?

I got mine on Amazon with the "snowhite" code that took $10 off. So I think it came to like $19ish. I really like. I'll like it even more if they decide to release the rest of the Diamond Collection with collector's editions like it.

@SWillie!: Thanks. I'll definately pick up future collector's editions if they're released.

Question: I was just checking my Discs and it seems the DVD copy and the BD's are see through when help up to the light. Is anyone else's that way? It's a domestic release.

You're not alone. Mine is. I don't get the purpose of changing the look of the disc, but I'm not complaining. Did you get the BD packaging or the DVD packaging, tho? I got the DVD packaging and I wondered if that's why it looked like that. Race to Witch Mountain also used that sort of disc for Blu Ray so I'm guessing everyone's version has it.

As for the ghosting effect, I thought that was very interesting, but it really doesn't ruin the moviegoing experience for me. Maybe 'cause this is my first time actually owning the movie without resorting to a friend's VHS copy, Youtube, or the Dentist's office. 'Cause I understand when you grow up with something that's always been one way, and it's distorted, it doesn't give you that same, warm feeling from childhood (like "Give a Little Whistle" w/o the RIIIGHT!! from Jiminy in the BD version) I actually thought it was a fun animation technique that gave The Dwarfs a cartoony quality.

I feel better that I'm not the only one. I was worried I got a bootleg or something.

They actually do it for that reason, I'm pretty sure. To prevent bootlegs. It's much harder to create a copy of that disc that looks legit than it is to create a copy of one that just has the solid colors. Anyone can print one of those off with a nice printer.

See-through?!

@SWillie!: That makes sense but it seemed weird that my other newer BDs (i.e Princess and the Frog and Toy Story 1 and 2) wasn't like that.

Yeah. This isn't the first Disney title to have that.

My Limited Edition Collector´s Set just came, I ordered it directlty from Amazon and it´s supposed to be new, but the set didn´t have a plastic wrap nor the movie itself, it just came with the white sticker on the upper edge. This is the first time that I order something from this company, so I dont know if this is normal. Has this happened to any of you?

Wow, I'm sorry. You must have bought from one of the third-party sellers.

It's getting vaulted in mid-March, along with Pinocchio and Fantasia/Fantasia 2000.

Since when titles will be vaulted in March? Plus, they release in March new Fantasia Blu-rays (without DVD), so these titles won't be vaulted.
