Pretty interesting that the Variety at the end of the review praises Paperman as a 'hand drawn' film. I'm wondering how the other reviews will see this short. Or the general audience for that matter. Will they look at it as a hand drawn short?Coolmanio wrote:Variety Review:

True, although you can't blame them at all. It does look hand drawn. It's an extended play of the "My Qbertese is a little rusty" scene from the trailers. Having seen the film last night, I can tell you that "Going Turbo" is not a good thing in Ralph's arcade world.
The first reviews of Wreck-It Ralph are in, and everybody seems to be in love with Disney’s charming pic about an 8-bit video game bad guy who decides to make some changes in his life.
Variety’s Peter DeBruge wrote, “With plenty to appeal to boys and girls, old and young, Walt Disney Animation Studios has a high-scoring hit on its hands in this brilliantly conceived, gorgeously executed toon, earning bonus points for backing nostalgia with genuine emotion.”
Hollywood Reporter’s critic Justin Lowe noted Pixar’s influence on the movie, and added, “Guided by executive producer John Lasseter, Walt Disney Animation Studios has clearly devoted significant resources and talent to Wreck-It Ralph, recruiting a top-notch cast and a diverse array of animation, visual effects and lighting artists to contribute to the distinct and varied vid-game styles. With a mix of retro eye-candy for grown-ups and a thrilling, approachable storyline for the tykes, the film casts a wide and beguiling net.”
The movie, which scored a 98% anticipation rate on http://www.rottentomatoes.com, will open on Friday, Nov. 2nd.

You guys remember Snakes on a Plane? That one got a LOT of hype, but bombed at the box office. And I'm worried that may be the case with this movie.
Your really trying to compare the two? Snakes was destined to fail, it was marketed as this instant cult hit, but you cant really set out to make such a thing, those types of movies have to happen on their own, you cant force it which is what they were aiming for. Ralph appeals to gamers, and misleading or not, it has all these iconic characters in the ads for it, people will see it for that alone. That combined with just having the Disney name on it all but guarantees it wont bomb. whether it meets expectations remains to be seen, who even knows what their anticipating really?
