Walt Disney Records will be re-releasing the soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast on September 14th to coincide with the new Diamond Edition DVD and Blu-ray releases this year. The tracklist remains the same as the original soundtrack with one addition: Jordin Sparks will be singing the song Beauty and the Beast. There’s still no word on if the old Jump5 music video from the special edition DVD will be on it or if it will be replaced by a possible Jordin Sparks video.
Jeez, would it really kill Disney to release complete soundtracks of their movies, instead of constant re-releases with dreadful covers by some 'artists'? Look at the 2-disc of Mary Poppins, that's how the soundtrack of every Disney movie should be.

50 ALL-NEW stills on official Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition site
http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/anima ... llery.html

I'm going to go out on a limb and say these are what we will get on the Blu-ray disc. Why? Because they look to be a combo of the dark colors I used for comparisons and Platinum colors; basically the color pallet that was on the VHS. Of course, some of the images either look artificially brightened or have the contrast tinkered with (probably for max clarity in the stills but will retain proper brightness/contrast in the film), but for the most part, the colors appear correct (note, not once does Belle have red hair or does Le Fou have brown hair).

I can't say I absolutely, positively know those are the correct colors but they remind of the theatrical version I saw 2 decades ago in theaters I didn't even know I remembered :o

Pardon me if anyone has posted these in this thread already, but there are some movie clips and previews of the new bonus features up on IMDb. Here we go:

Glad I still have my Platinum disc since the work in progress is only going to be picture in picture... :?

Thanks for linking to those, Wondy!

I'm bracing myself for the riot that'll ensue when people see the Diamond Edition's color scheme is identical to the Platinum's...

The Broadway featurette looks really interesting. The format reminds me of those "10 Things You Didn't Know About..." movie specials that used to ruin on VH1. The other clips repeat info from the PE, but at least we know we won't lose out on that info on this edition.

Lookin' good. Still not sure if I should upgrade, not too crazy about different colors, however vastly different they are.

not as bad as the 3D trailer. I was seriously considering bviewing that with tinted sunglasses to see if I could get the original colors. nice to see that might not be the case.

It seems that Disney's inching back to the original colors, as it's not entirely identical to the pe. No doubt, this is to ease parents' worries about how scared their kids might be-or it could be that they think kids like bright colors. the next release will be closer to the original, no doubt.

anyway, I found one mixup on the site-they6 put the wrong thumbnail/still combination. Where there should be lumiere in a transparent spotlight, Gaston's lifting the bench with the triplets on it.

How about a song to get us in the mood?

Out of curiosity, does a product called Milk Buds actually exist? :p After the last war broke out, I tried to search for such a product online (well, on Google and Wikipedia), but all to no avail.

Wait, do you have some kind of inside information? If so, let me know so I can get the venting out of the way now. In all seriousness, I'll just be disappointed but not enough to riot. I was truly hoping to pick it up, as I sold my VHS tape in anticipation, and it would be a shame to have to wait for another re-release.

Anyways, the official Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition website has confirmed that the bonus DVD (that comes with the combo pack) will contain the Work in Progress Edition while the Blu-ray disc will contain the Original Storyboard Version. This is what I was guessing they'd do, as the DVD can then just branch the new footage while the storyboard would've been a whole separate movie (hell, the Ghibli DVD's have second discs for their storyboard versions). So this is great news. If you buy the Blu-ray, you get the Original Theatrical Release, the Special Extended Edition, the Original Storyboard Version, and the Work in Progress Edition. Cool beans.

Scroll up a bit. Wonderlicious posted this link to a collection of promo videos for this release:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101414/videogallery

The video clips of the film all look exactly like the PE. Now before anyone says, "Well, how do we know Disney's not just using clips from the old transfer to promote this one," the film clips Disney releases to promote a new release are always from that edition's transfer. Pull up any other title like Pinocchio, Snow White, or Sleeping Beauty and you'll see that they've done the same thing. For a (very) recent example of this, see the Fantasia thread, which has links to that film's new restoration.

if the new release has the *ahem* effed up color palette, I don't think Disney would have gone out of their way to upload all these HD images that look like the original colors...

Unless, of course, they look like the original colors because they're promo stills from 1991. Some of the publicity photos used for this release are identical to ones I've seen elsewhere for both the 1991 and 2002 releases. Disney's promo clips have always shown the latest restoration, but their promo stills are usually carry-overs from the theatrical release or a really old re-release. The only exception I can think of is Dumbo, which did actually show the new transfer.

The thing is, those clips are OLD (not that the validity of you argument is automatically disqualified by that). All those clips from the movie were on the old website and the featurette clips have been on the Target website for a few months now (except the Work in Progress intro). All the images were posted after the clips, so maybe I'm just deluding myself, but I still have hope.

As I said before, I won't be outraged, just disappointed. I really would like to own it and am quite tired of waiting for a proper presentation.

well, crap. I hope we'll be getting the proper presentation instead of the crappy PE job we got in 2002. :(

I still don't see much of a difference in the clips. The colors still look the same as they do on the PE DVD. I'm sorry if I'm bringing up that issue again. :(

By the way, there's some more pictures in the gallery part of the site. :)

For those arguing that the clips don't look different:

On the official site, those clips come straight from the platinum. They have been up since day one.

BUT, on IMDB, there are a few NEW clips up. If I'm correct, there are clips from the old restoration and clips from the new one. The key to telling which are old and which are new is in the resolution of the video clips. Check out the ones posted below and you will see a clear difference in resolution AND color.

New Restoration:
