Yeah, it is a pain to navigate because some "rooms" only have one "door".

I don't have the blu-ray player yet (maybe Christmas! ) but I'm thoroughly enjoying the DVD that came with the set. It's been ages since I've really sat down to watch the film, and I think the restoration looks great.

I asked my parents for the Blu-ray and DVD combo pack for Christmas. Does anyone know if there's any coupons out there at this point, what about that Amazon deal?

What's the best place to buy this where they could get it at the lowest possible price?

I have a question regarding BD of Snow White. Recently i had to return my BD disc because it wasn't playing on my player. One thing i noticed is that the disc seemed holographic. When i returned it and then got a new copy, the disc looked more like a print, instead of holographic. What's the real difference between both?

Mine was holographic as well - perhaps it was an error with the first batch of prints.

Disney has been so erratic with what gets holographic disc art and what gets regular disc art when it comes to Blu-Ray. Perhaps the initial pressing was done holographic but more recent copies are regular?

By saying "holographic", are you guys referring to the disc art being kind of blurry (not Blu-ray, but blurry!)? Mine are like this... I assumed it was because the colors were printed without a white underlayer. It really looks horrible.

Are you saying there are some discs out there that look like all of Disney's other Blu-rays on the face?

The real reason I revived this thread was to express my disappointment with this release. Considering this is the premier "Diamond Edition", I was expecting a lot. And I feel quite disappointed.

No Cine-Explore track? No new commentary? What a waste. Although I do appreciate the inclusion of the PE commentary... but I want both old and new!

I also would much rather have a large, comprehensive documentary on the making of the film. I hate discs that force you to "over-navigate". Hyperion Studios is incredibly annoying. Tons of tiny one minute clips that seem quite disconnected and require a lot of effort to navigate through. I just want to sit down and watch the story of how Snow White was made.

There is a 20 minute or so documentary, but it is almost entirely focused on what an achievement it was and the post-release reactions and effects, rather than how it was made. A good documentary should have been at least an hour, with a focus on both pre and post release information.

I hope that they will consider moving back to a more straightforward set of bonus materials... I can sort of appreciate what was triued here, but I just don't think it works as a cohesive whole. And it takes more effort than it is worth, sucking any enjoyment out of it.

In addition, I would like to lobby for them to ensure that they include ALL previous bonus features on new releases. I absolutely want new ones (particularly Cine-Explre), but I also want to be able to listen to the original commentaries and watch older documentaries. Blu-ray has plenty of storage space, so let's use it to truly create "archival" versions of these movies!

Does anyone else's Blu-ray have a ghosting effect for a couple of frames when you first see the Dwarfs digging in the mine? I just now noticed it and was wonder if they all have it or if I got a defective Blu-ray.

If it is defective, is there anyway I could get a new one without spending money (it's way past the return policy at Best Buy)? I hope its holographic if they send me a new disc, as it would stand out if it was the only regular disc.

None of you who had trouble with your Snow White BDs returned them to Movie Stop did you? I bought the Diamond Edition there used and I don't have a player yet to see if there's anything wrong with them.

So is there a number I call or email address to get this disc replaced?

I always assumed it was my player, a layer switch, finger print, something like that but its on the disc itself. I played it frame-by-frame and it lasts for two frames, where the current frame has the previous frame ghosted over it. Its very distracting and I was wondering how I could get this replaced.





I don't have a Blu-ray video capturing device, so I just took some pictures with my cell. My TV is very reflective, so getting a decent shot was annoying but hopefully you can see enough to understand what I've been talking about.

The scene with the "ghost dwarfs""is really annoying indeed.

But things like this happen if you mess with the film cells and the original material. This is just one of the 1000 changes to the film.

Sleeping Beauty has transformed into a completely different film, where all the sounds and instruments and lines and chorus parts are actually shifted from the frame in the film where they used to be.

But be careful to mention these changes, because many people on here will bash you, as they don't want to hear anything about it. This is the new version, so it must be the only right version!

I just checked the DVD they included with the Blu-ray, the ghosting is on there too, so it can't be limited to just my Blu-ray as an encoding error. I wonder if Disney will recognize this mistake and issue a disc replacement program (doubt it, they never admitted they left out the line in Pinocchio but this ghosting thing is WAY more distracting).

The film looks so perfect, stunning restoration, but how did this get though? It looks like an encode error but its on both the DVD and Blu-ray. How do I bring this problem to Disney's attention or did they already correct it on the new pressings (non-holographic discs)?

Im gonna check my dvd version to see if the issue is there.

Yep. It's there. Marky is right. Of course, it's quite often a matter of being wrong, but not so much as it's his overreactions that get him ridiculed.

I personally dont find this particularly distracting, as it's a very human flaw to make. You can bet your ass the next restoration probably wont have this.

Hell, not even the HDD reviewers, who have top of the line Home Theater equipment, spotted this because it's so small.

I've got a nearly 10 year old 1080i rear projection TV (probably the lowest form of HDTV you can get) that I've been watching this on and I certainly noticed it. This never seemed small to me, as the opposing actions of the dwarfs swinging up and down at the same time just jared what I was seeing on screen (I don't know, maybe it has something to do with me being an animator with trained eyes but this is what we would call a hitch in the action). Yeah, well as an aspiring animator, I can tell you that even with this little hitch, the Blu-ray was well worth it.

I just checjed my DVD for the ghosting and it is there. To be honest though, I didn't even notice it until I looked for it/when it was pointed out. Seriously, if I blinked I would have missed it entirely. (Which I apparently did the first time around.)
