Pardon for repeating myself (and my ignorance), but has the new edition of Total Film Magazine come out yet?

It will be available on January 17th, according to this article (last line).DisneyFan09 wrote:Pardon for repeating myself (and my ignorance), but has the new edition of Total Film Magazine come out yet?
Because Emma was born in Paris I'm guessing?Mmmadelon wrote:I read on Instagram that co-producer Jack Morrissey revealed that Belle was born in Paris in this version of the tale.

I don't know if you knew this, but Emma turning down the role was already known and put in the thread about Disney's Cinderella (2015). The article you linked to is rather misleading though. It takes the words from the already scanned and linked-to article about this Beauty and the Beast, and in those words Emma never once says Belle is a better role model than Cinderella, she just says Belle spoke to her more and she identified with her more and was, in her words, "the kind of woman [she] would want to embody as a role model, given the choice." It was very classy of her not to say anything against Cinderella, though perhaps Disney wouldn't have allowed such a thing. Hm. Would Emma dare sign on to be Belle if she knew she couldn't say such things? Could she have been trapped in a contract with small print about that? The answer to both is probably "no", though, lol.Sotiris wrote:Emma was offered the role of Cinderella in Disney's live-action adaptation but turned it down.

Thankfully, your opinion is the minority. I, too, am glad Emma Watson didn't do Cinderella (and La La Land as well since she was considered for the lead role), otherwise, we wouldn't have gotten the lovely Lily James. Plus it would have sucked if Lavender's Blue and A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes were both autotuned.Disney's Divinity wrote:I’m glad Emma didn’t waste time on Cinderella, having seen the finished product, although doubtless she would’ve given a better performance than Lily James. Besides, a more empowered character like Belle suits her, tbh. I can only imagine if she'd been wasted on Cinderella, we could've been stuck with Kristen Stewart here. *shudder*
That concept art is certainly magnificent.
That would explain why she wouldn’t really see Cinderella as that empowered of a character, lol. And assuming they could have sent her a script at the time of offering the role to her—if they had a script at that time—finding out the adaptation would have one of the *most* passive versions of the character would’ve only maximized the issue.DisneyFan09 wrote:Interestingly enough, the article cites that Pocahontas was Emma's favorite Disney movie growing up.
Maybe it's a homage to the original fairy tale where Belle's family was wealthy until her father lost his wealth. Paris would make sense as her birth city then. We already know from the trailer that they are retaining elements such as Belle's father trying to pick a rose for Belle.PatrickvD wrote:Because Emma was born in Paris I'm guessing?Mmmadelon wrote:I read on Instagram that co-producer Jack Morrissey revealed that Belle was born in Paris in this version of the tale.
That makes me feel a little bit better about liking this film considering all the hate it gets, not just from Disney fans, but also people who feel the film is offensive to the legacy of the real Pocahontas.DisneyFan09 wrote:Interestingly enough, the article cites that Pocahontas was Emma's favorite Disney movie growing up.
