Asian having long hair(especially in Japan) isn't really a surprise. in many parts of history whether in China or Japan, women and even men grew long hair. In Japan's Heian era, almost all women of Emperor's court wore extremely long hair.

Also reason long hair works well with Asian is cause that they straight fine hair. Most Caucasian have wavy hair and thus hair knots is more likely to happen.

Ha ha yeah. Rapunzel has also always been my favorite fairytale and I think I wanted really long hair even as a kid (when mom would have my hair cut shoulder length or shorter).

My mom always made me cut my hair short, even as a teenager (I often got pixie cuts). I think I've grown my hair out to rebel against that era.

A part of me has always wondered what it would be like to have long hair. But I have curly hair, which I can't seem to go more than a few months without getting a haircut anyways. After which, it grows back a small bush before it seemingly stops. None of the various kinds of shampoo and sprays I try to make it grow more seem to work.

Maybe I'm just destined to have short hair.

I wanted to finally share some exciting news with you all. Back in November I had to divine opportunity to go not only to an early a screening for Tangled but be a part of two interviews. In person, I interviewed Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi! And a few weeks later I did a phone interview with Glen Keane!

I am certain all of you can understand how amazing this is. Like Rapunzel I can't believe I did this!! All of this was for an article I wrote for The Southern Cross newspaper, and a longer version has just been picked up by a website. The link is below.

Wow. I wouldn't imagine having hair that long. My hair is only just past my shoulders and it gets tangled and messy very easy. 0_0

Dear Disney Enthusiasts,

I was young during the 1980s, and I loved the fact that my mother allowed me to grow my hair out, because my mother's mother always thought that my hair (and the hair of all girls and women) ought to be short, curly, and blonde.

I envied women whose hair was down to their knees, etc., and, at one point during my childhood, my hair was past my waist. I was Rapunzel for Halloween one year.

During the past five years or so, I've been thinking more closely to the way that Grandma has always thought. I like to keep my hair at my shoulders, or shorter, and I almost always pull my hair back.

I sometimes wish that I felt as free as I felt when I was young; I now believe that America is a fairly icky place, and that such ideas as war and intense caution are inevitable, and even necessary. I've gone from being almost too casual to being almost too conservative, and that may be bad, because I'm only 31.

I may not look like Rapunzel, but if I thought that an enemy of America was even THINKING about attacking my family's home in any way, I'd be there, in the kitchen, with frying pans, sharp-footed dolls, etc., ready to fight the people's war to end all people's wars; I'd more than likely do away with anybody who tried to hurt the neighbors, too! I believe in mentally planning for the worst, and that's why I feel sorry for all of the women who are having kids now; 2012 is right around the corner, and if we all die, a TON of American women will have built up a store of false dreams by having had children now. I think that the new Baby Boom should've started AFTER 2012, providing that we all survived.

In many ways, I AM Rapunzel, with regards to my cautiousness. I sort of have to agree with Mother Gothel's assessment of the world, too.

Fantastic article, Marianne, and very interesting. I didn't know Glen Keane was a Christian. It must have been awesome getting to talk to Mandy, Zach, and Glen!

Does anyone else imagine Jackoleen to look like Kathy Bates in Misery? I sure do:

But just remember, in regards to your hair, you *should* be free, regardless of any restraints. Free to choose.
