Some people found the things you said to be offensive and disturbing, and very innapropriate on this bored (and I think they were too bad for this board, too) but I agree with the metaphoric message you and Floyd Norman are sending.

I think I get the idea about a man with a butter on his hand while showing it to that girl. I think it still represents Disney's marketing that will fail. Sorry to say this, I think Disney's marketing campaign will fail, since they put so much merchandise on Rapunzel than Flynn Rider, since they have changed the name from, "Rapunzel," to, "Tangled." Why can't Disney just give themselves up, and change the name already, even though that changing the name to impress boys is official. But from the looks of the merchandise that I have seen, and pictures that still bear the name, "Rapunzel," it just gets, "tangled up," get it? I understand that Disney is trying to receive a wider audience to get them to see their next animated movie, but from the looks of the marketing, even though they're trying to rearrange the story and main characters' roles, I find it a little bit hopeless, especially when Disney was supposed to bring us some materials based on, "Rapunzel (Tangled)." And Disney still has a few months to get the project done by November 24, 2010, unless they have no choice but to postpone it, which to you Disney fans will not happen, because you can tell that they have most of the animation completed, including the story. I must agree, but the marketing after the title change, to my belief, is a little bit not doing so well. There are still materials that have not yet been unleashed, but thanks to some Disney fans like Robster, Sotiris, and other Disney fans who have discovered some materials from either the internet, or from the Disney Company itself. They say that there was supposed to be a trailer made within a week or two for Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," and I have a feeling that Disney is still working on it before Disney and Pixar's, "Toy Story 3," release. Whatever Disney is doing, even though they're doing their best to market their movie after the title change, hey...it's their movie. I say to Disney: Good Luck.

No, the trailer is completed as it was recently shown at a press conference held by Disney and it is attached to prints of Toy Story 3. Like The Princess and the Frog's trailer was released online three weeks prior to Up, I assume the same thing will happen with Tangled's trailer. That said, is anybody else really anxious about the trailer and just patiently awaiting it coming out? Every morning, I wake up and am disappointed it's not been released. I don't think I've ever anticipated a trailer so much, lol.

In regards to the marketing, am I the only one who think they should move the release date away from Harry Potter? That's one of the most anticipated films of the year for a whole lot of people, while it's mainly Disney fans at the moment awaiting Tangled. So, they're going to be in direct competition with that massive franchise and it's not going to do them any good.

Wow, that sentence made absolutely no sense.

Besides, if it was the teaser, it wouldn't be new, would it? This new trailer is two and a half minutes long.

They should move the release well away from Harry Potter. If Disney is hoping to catch some of those Potterites, they are hopelessly lost. The film will get trampled by Potter fans rushing to the next auditorium. They're commiting suicide with this release. Somebody's sabotaging the animation dpt! Call the Police! Cry Murder! DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!

I understood what you were trying to say...I think it was confirmed on this board previously (or in an article I read) that the new trailer is basically the leaked one, with some stuff replaced and obviously the animation complete. But as a whole the stuff they are trying to convey is the same.

And I for one am fine with the release date. In the US, it'll be released on Thanksgiving weekend, and I'm pretty sure other than Harry Potter, Tangled will be the only other choice. Harry Potter is getting darker and darker, and I'm sure there will be some families (if not a lot) that will be looking for a good family movie, and if they market this in the correctly prior to the thanksgiving, Tangled will obviously be that choice, unless parents really want to take their kids to the new movie "Burlesque" . This obvioulsy only applies to the US (in Canada our Thanksgiving is in October), but for the rest of the world, the release date is sometime in December which will be close enough to the Christmas holiday and boost up ticket sales (I'm hoping! Didn't really work for PatF, but that's because there was Chipmunks going up against it). The only other movie that might compete with Tangled for families is "Yogi Bear".

That's really sad, if you think about it. There was a time when studio produced half-assed cashgrab productions were afraid of going up against Disney's animated features. Now, it's unfortunately the other way around. What has the world come to?

I want to apologize to all of you Disney fans who puts high confidence on Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," but here it goes: what if DreamWorks Animation's, "Megamind," defeats Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)?"

Disney Fans' Answer: Not unless Alan Menken's songs top off the movie, because his music always triumphs.

Polizzi: True, but DreamWorks Animation has better sense of comedy than Disney's, since Disney wanted, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," to be a comedy and fantasy...maybe. However, DreamWorks Animation cannot triumph over Pixar. Who knows, maybe Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," could defeat DreamWorks Animation's, "Megamind." But I can tell you this, DreamWorks Animation always puts good money on famous celebrities, like Will Farrell, to make Disney look bad. But Disney is not stupid, they have a sense of putting up a good story like how Pixar did for their movies.

Well, MegaMind does have the advantage of being a superhero flick, which are massively popular right now. And I think we've learned from Chipmunks last year, that even negative reviews can't stop a film being a hit. It really depends on the campaign DreamWorks mounts, but they have delivered hit after hit, so it's more guaranteed success than Tangled. That said, MegaMind will have been out three weeks already, so I think Harry Potter is Tangled's bigger competition at this point (and Tangled will likely take MegaMind's 3D screens). However, it should be noted a couple of years back, Bee Movie and Enchanted competed against each other and made about the same amount of money.

And DreamWorks doesn't hire celebrities to make Disney look bad. It's pretty common practise in today's animated films to hire celebrities to voice main characters. Pixar does it, too, and so does Disney (look at the casting of Mandy Moore in Tangled or John Travolta in Bolt). Heck, Disney practically jump-started the trend when Robin Williams was cast as the Genie.

The only thing that'll irk me is if Tangled only makes around $100 million and then it gets called a success. Where TP&TF is apparently a failure (for some reason).

If that happens, I won't trust Disneycorp. again.

(btw, I'm still confused as to what Tangled and The Last Tango in Paris have to do with each other, beyond the titles. Maybe it's poking fun at how children will find a controversial film with sex in it when they search for Tangled online?)

I think "The Last Tangled in Paris" is saying that the Disney marketing exceutives (the guy in bed with the butter) are doing to Rapunzel (the blonde girl in bed), what Marlon Brando and the director of "The Last Tango in Paris" did to the girl in that movie.

Metaphorically, of course.

Well, at the very least, I'm looking forward to seeing the trailer on the big screen when TS3 comes out.
