New concept art by Paul Felix. According to
this article, a fine art print of it "will be available exclusively to D23 Gold Members on shopDisney starting March 8 in a limited edition of 500."

I remember when
The Lion King was released (when I was 10), I started for some reason to be interested in the voice actors for the Disney characters. In my Native Norwegian of course, since the Norwegian dubs (just like the Spanish dubs) had the same voice actors (hey, Norway is small country, anyways). I don`t remember writing the names down on my notebook, but I started to note the actors in both Disney and in cartoons in general.
We're around the same age then; I was 12 when
The Lion King was released. Yes, in these countries there are not that many voice actors, so sooner or later, you start noticing the same voices again and again in different places.
DisneyFan09 wrote:I liked that picture. It was a nice shot.
I agree. And it's cool that the image continues on the back of the magazine.

^^ You two are older than I thought.
Also, I didn't know you were Norwegian
DisneyFan09! Great to see more Europeans here. I think about 10 years ago there was more of an international vibe here, but most have left.
I often confuse you with all others with usernames starting with "
DisneyFan". We have quite a few.

Although I think that presently it is only you and the other
DisneyFan from Sweden who post regularly. Is there anybody else?
Sorry for going off-topic.

I also thought DisneyFan09 was younger, but just because I know most people here are quite younger than me. I never hid my age, as my year of birth is in my username, but I guess it's not completely clear that's what it is; I could've chosen that number for another reason. And, yes, I think DisneyFan09 and DisneyFan97 are the only ones with DisneyFan in their username who post regularly.

Don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but I notice that Disney has decided to continue their tradition with smirking characters on the poster.

The first poster is my favorite of the three, and I like how Namaari is heavily featured in both it and the second poster. I suppose Namaari will technically become a part of the ragtag group, since each character represents a different group within Kumandra. I love the idea of Raya's sword being able to change shape to a whip and then a hammer. I suppose it makes sense if the sword is something special and dragon-related, since Sisu can change her form, too.
I'm so excited. I've been thinking a lot about whether it'll be safe to risk going to a theater, but I think it'll be okay by March. Cases should be going down after they spiked from the holidays (and before they spike again at Easter). This will probably be the only movie I see all year.

the first two posters with the Asian accent borders are gorgeous.
Looks like Namari will indeed have a wolf thingy sidekick. I wish we'd get a name for them already so I can stop calling them wolf thingies, lol.

I really want to see it at a theater. Ive thought of wearing two masks and going at an early showing so the room wont be packed but Im in the top 3 states for covid infection(south Fla,) so I dunno.

Don`t worry, everyone are off-topic every once in a while.
How old did you thought I was? Yes, I`m Norwegian and I thank you for your shoutout

And sure, I understand why you confuse my username with DisneyFan97, who`s from my neighbour-country (yes, we Norwegians love to make fun of Swedes, even though we get along pretty well). But I chose my username due to making my avatar here in 2009. And sure, I chose my name for my fandom

I found the two first posters to be a little messy, to be honest. The first one looked almost fanmade. But they`re still not bad. The two first posters reminds of the final poster for
The Princess and the Frog, where all the characters were featured together;

Thanks for posting. I liked the first spot. It was more serious and less Dreamworks-esque in tone.

The domestic dates are a bit different:
Starting today, guests can pre-order Raya and the Last Dragon with Premier Access for $29.99 on Disney+. The film will be available to stream on March 5th, and guests may watch as many times as they want on any platform where Disney+ is available including: Apple, Google, Amazon and Roku. The Premier Access offer will be available until May 4th, 2021 at 11:59 pm PT.
Following its theatrical and Disney+ Premier Access debut, Walt Disney Animation’s Raya and the Last Dragon will be available to all Disney+ subscribers on June 4, 2021. According to the Disney+ Help Section, the streaming service plans offer the movie at no additional charge just a few months after its initial premiere. This is in line with the release of Disney’s live-action Mulan which was made available first through Premier Access in September and then to all subscribers in early December.

You're right. However, I think it fits better with this film than it did with previous movies.

I love the three posters, but the first one is also my favorite. I think it might be my favorite for the movie so far. Though, the teaser poster was also really good, and the Japanese and the similar domestic one, which showed a lot of vegetation, were quite beautiful too.
I agree, the fact that Raya's sword has multiple uses is really cool, but I didn't notice it can also turn into a hammer, where is that shown?

Where I live most theaters are closed right now, but I guess they'll probably be open again by then. I've only went to the theater once during the pandemic to see the
Wonder Woman sequel. I absolutely loved it, but I guess it was in part because of how much I had missed the theater experience. I would like to see
Raya on the big screen as well, but if there's no other way; I'll pay to watch it on Disney+.
DisneyFan09 wrote:How old did you thought I was?
I don't know, not too much younger either. If I had to guess, maybe I would've said something from late twenties to early thirties. But I'm not very good at guessing people's ages, and here judging only by what people write it's even more difficult.

Yes, it's a similar kind of poster. I get why you don't like them much. It's true there's a lot going on in them, but it doesn't bother me on this occasion as I really like all the little details and the Asian influence.
DisneyFan09 wrote:I liked the first spot. It was more serious and less Dreamworks-esque in tone.
That's true. And this time I did find Awkwafina's joke at the end funny.
We also learned how the gem breaks.

Of course I always assumed your username was a riff on the official Disney fan club, except that I always misremember the club's name as
D83, surmising that you simply subtracted 1 to differentiate your username from it.
But it's actually
D23.
DisneyFan09 wrote:How old did you thought I was? Yes, I`m Norwegian and I thank you for your shoutout

I made you out to be in your mid-twenties, more or less.

I'm 31.
I wish we had more members from other European countries! The UK was well-represented in the past, but not any more. I'm glad we still have a couple of active Spanish, German, French and Dutch users, as well as a sole Romanian. I'm not sure if Finland, Denmark and Iceland are represented. I wish we had some Italian users, as Italy is geographically and culturally close to my country. And with a population of just half a million, there was never really any hope of a local joining this site.
I think
farerb may be the only currently active member from the Asian continent. We had other Israelis in the past, but they're long gone. We've also had members from Malaysia (
akhenaten and
qindarka) and Japan (can't remember the username but the last time I came across a post he/she had a Fix-It Felix avatar.)
Not that is off-topic!
I've long wondered whether it's possible to make a thread here where those of us willing to do so can pin our location on a map. It would be lovely.

I love the new posters but I have to say that I'm tired about the similarity poses in the animated posters. I don't know much about this movie and I have no special interest on it because I think that all the latest classics follows the same history pattern: a character who has to save her land and who has to make a journey full of risk and funny characters in order to save their people and found who they are. I hope that it would surprise me...

But you we right! My username is indeed meant to be a riff on the official Disney fan club. It's true, though, that it doesn't completely work as a reference to D23 since the "D" in my username, unlike Disney, doesn't stand for my surname but my name and I haven't founded any company, so I chose my year of birth instead, which is a very different number. And of course, as I never explained this, it's not easy for others to guess what it actually means. It's curious I chose that as my username, since I don't like to reveal much private info about myself. I guess I thought it was clever at first, but I soon regretted doing it. When some members confused it for DB8 or something similar I realized it sounds like a robot name from Star Wars.
Jules wrote:We've also had members from Malaysia (akhenaten and qindarka) and Japan (can't remember the username but the last time I came across a post he/she had a Fix-It Felix avatar.)
I remember that user from Japan, but I've also forgotten his/her username. It was great having a member from there because he/she sometimes translated the Japanese trailers for us. And wasn't
taei also from Japan?
EDIT: I found the username of the Japanese member you were talking about. It's
WonderNeverOz.
Jules wrote:I've long wondered whether it's possible to make a thread here where those of us willing to do so can pin our location on a map. It would be lovely.
That's a cool idea. As long as we don't have to pin our exact location (part of the country/city/town) if we don't want to.

Here are also some new updates:

• And new details about the gem from a book:
