I think I'd die without a credit card. Tag me and bag me. Yeah, I could see it now. There are just way too many great movies you'll never be able to buy in stores. And good luck walking into an Amazon.com store that isn't online. (Or am I smoking crack and they do have them somewhere? I'm always the last to know)

And Fulci takes a lot of getting used to (took me over a year). But I can see you don't really care. So it's fine. I shall never try to give you movie suggestions. :D Life's too short to have to sit through movies that don't remind you of several other movies.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to talk about Italian horror, but you'll never see it because they just don't carry it in stores no more. In fact, I wonder how you saw this particular Fulci film? Did you rent it somehow?

Wow, what's with the snarkiness? For your information, sir, I like a lot of movies that don't remind me of other movies. In this case though, I happened to like this one compared to other Italian horror I had seen because it's style was closer to a style I actually liked, the 60's and 70's British horror. I have actually seen other Italian horror besides Fulci and Argento, and I haven't cared for it much because it's sloppy and gore focused. And I manage to acquire enough movies online for free by writing reviews and taking part in consumer research forums that give Amazon.com gift certificates as thank-yous. So, I'm doing okay without the credit cards for now. I'd rather not run up a debt.

Australia - Not only is it NOT half as bad as reviews have mentioned, I was quite impressed by the scope of story and production. I'll definitely give this a repeat viewing before grading it. The movie just feels too different and needs to sink in before finalising an opinion.

Meet the Robinsons - Not a bad Disney movie. The animation was great for a CGI film and some of the characters were amusing. Not the best Disney film, but still a little better than Chicken Little.

6.5/10

A good assessment. Though I'd say it was A LOT better than Chicken Little, ha. My biggest problem with Meet the Robinsons (which I thankfully never got around to buying and ended up getting for the first time on blu-ray a month or so ago) is that the attempts to make the family weird in a funny way rarely seemed very funny to me and more like trying too hard. In general though, I liked everything else about it.

And... I can't BELIEVE this film got so many negative reviews from UD-ers here. I laughed my ass off!!! I haven't laughed so many times watching a movie since... the very early 1990's watching the Z.A.Z. comedies! It was hysterical! One of the last great funny movies I've seen. Mainstream entertainment just does not get any better than this in the new millennium!

A huge disappointment, I'd heard it was a masterpiece. It's not funny at all for a horror-comedy. There are actually too many in-references - they even pile them on top of each other. One of the guys is named Chris Romero and the other guy is J. Carpenter Hooper. C'mon - 3 in a row, 2 in the same name? Pace yourself, Fred. Stylistically, there were a few really good horror moments. But overall, it's just not really satisfying. The writing falls flat as comedy and the direction isn't interesting enough to hold my attention. Plus, most of the casting choices are bland. I knew it wasn't a good sign when they got the actor who played Rusty in National Lampoon's European Vacation. He's not a strong enough actor to play a lead. Tom Atkins is the best thing in the movie and he takes his role way too seriously. Even when he's spitting out 14 one-liners in the space of 30 seconds.

What's there to say? It's one of the greatest mainstream comedies ever made.

I think Saw now wins the dubious honor of replacing whatever I had ranked #1 in my: Worst Horror Movie I've Ever Seen list. And there are some unbelievable stinkers I've forced myself to sit through. I don't think a single one irritated me as much as Saw (although, Blair Witch Project comes really close). The film is a failure in every way a movie can fail. It is poorly written, poorly acted, poorly visualized. It's boring, it's ugly, it's pretentious, it's crudely dramatized, the music is awful, the dialogue is terrible. It's not scary, it's not shocking, it's unintelligent, it's uninteresting. The characters are stupid, the filmmakers are clearly morons. And it as well as its' sequels, are ripoffs. Of- Se7en, The Silence of the Lambs, and Argento's Deep Red, among others I assume. It is a completely worthless piece of trash that thinks it's being brilliant. It's nothing more than a relentlessly amateur and pathetic imitation.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 2ti7v4.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Image

Not a horror movie, as I expected (it's an action / drama / thriller). But it also is not entertaining. Unless you hate everyone in the entire world. But the reason people fight and get angry and argue? Because they know there is good in the world and there are people worth liking. If you hate everyone... This movie is for you. However, I give it credit for being technically slick. Which it is. If you like today's video games and action movies more than horror, I'd recommend this to you.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 6db999.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Image

My expectations with this one were about as low as they could be. And surprisingly, it works very well for about an hour. It's a much better set-up than I expected, the energy level is high, the characters are surprisingly tolerable, and there are some genuinely shocking sequences that even distrubed me. But when the movie only features the trucks causing terror, the whole concept becomes less intimidating. Then when you find out they can communicate with us? All the scariness goes right out the window and it becomes pure silliness. Plus - the AC/DC soundtrack is way too repetitive, as are the shots of bodies just laying around all over the place. Watch if you've nothing better to do.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 7rxpyr.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Image

I was dying to see this for years now. At first I thought this about cars that could move by themselves. But it's really about a gang of people killing people with their cars. I guess. Another Peter Weir movie (director of Picnic at Haning Rock), a very interesting director. The story is hard to understand and even harder to describe. But the style and atmosphere are pure '70s excellence. It's one hell of a movie. Maybe someone else can explain it to me.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 1oogsa.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Image

And here's one I had no idea it would be any good. It's basically more of a supernatural thriller than a horror movie. But there's a very memorable scene where a couple of people trapped in a nightmare are hassled by dead people trying to make them feel guilty. Elizabeth Hurley is great in this one, and the lead Craig Fairbrass is built and buff as hell then spends the last 5 minutes with his shirt off as well as other scenes. The acting is excellent, the writing is good, the direction is stylish. The special effects are okay. The only problem with the movie is that the ending is a little too wacky. It gets long, drawn out, and there're too many fight scenes. Gets downright boring. Which is a good thing the guy's shirt is off or else I don't know how anyone would get through that ending.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 5xgc4a.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Are the Horror-Gods trying to punish me or something??? Another member of the "Thank God I didn't blind-buy this on DVD" Club, for sure. I had heard some people say it was pretty good. It's not. It's awful. It's almost completely cliched. Just a rip-off of: Carrie (& The Rage: Carrie II), The Craft, May, Devil in the Flesh (with Rose McGowan), and the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies. The acting is awful, the writing sucks, the music score is beyond abysmal (completely feels like a made-for-TV thriller), the blood / gore is unimpressive. You name it - any flaw a movie like this could have, this one has it. There are however, maybe 2 good ideas here both happening at the end. So... If you like torture, check it out.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 2ossra.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Image

Very good. The ending gets a little too goofy, but this is a surprisingly well-made little "sleeper" type horror film. A supernatural kind of twist on Alfred Hitchcock's classy, camerawork-driven suspense horror. Good production design, good acting, a lot of great little elements. Not surprisingly - to me, it's written by the guy who wrote the controversial Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

<img src="http://image.allmusic.com/00/adg/cov200 ... 9dknig.jpg" width="150" height="215" border="0">

Image

Bad. Total cliche! Everything was cliched. The music, the story, the "drama" music, the "scary loud rumbling" music... WTF?!? How could the director of Ginger Snaps be so clueless?!! It was stupid beyond stupid! There are only 2 good things about the entire movie. 1 was the scene on the cliff with... let's just say "the sheep" (with a scene that surprising, it shouldn't be spoiled by me). And the scenes with the little girl Ebrill not acting like a freak. Which is what her performance predictably turns to, for the purpose of a cliched ending. I honestly expected this movie to be better... It was idiotic, condescending, boring, and completely cliched.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, I thought it was pretty funny, but after a while it got boring and stupid. I think if they cut some parts out (which they could have easily done), it would be more fast-moving, and I think I would have liked it more. I can't sit through long comedies, because after a while they get boring. I'd give it 3 and a half stars.

Image

Hands down, this is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. EVER. I got it for like $19 when it FIRST came out because I wanted to see it, and I regret watching it two times. When I first got it I watched it and thought it was OK, so a few nights ago I decided to give it another chance, because I usually like to give movies a second chance because sometimes I like movies better the second time. Boy was I wrong with this one. Avoid this at all costs. This doesn't even qualify for stars, that's how horrible it was.

Image

Haven't seen this in years, so I decided to watch it this morning. It was pretty good, and I'm sure I'll dig out the second one and watch it sometime soon.

The Shrink Is In - This was a Courtney Cox/David Arquette romantic comedy about a woman (Cox) who is imprisoned for jumping off of an airplane as it was about to takeoff. After completing her community service hours, she goes to a therapist (Carol Kane) who incidentley becomes insane when Samantha (Cox) comes. Samantha then impersonates the therapist to get a guy.

This was an okay movie. The beginning bored me, but then Samantha became the therapist, it picked up.

Finally saw Home on the Range, and I don't know why people say it is so bad. I really enjoyed it. It wasn't epic or anything, but I don't believe it was trying to be. It's a great animated comedy, and I enjoyed the art style and everything else. Not perfect, but very good (for what it was). Though, I understand what a lot of people didn't like was that it was supposed to be the last 2D Disney animated feature, and it wasn't much to "go out" with.

The Sixth Sense - This was my first time watching it, and I must say it was pretty darn good! The ending was totally surprising, though if you really thought about it it seemed easy to figure out.

Unless you're like me, and someone ruined it for you...
But hey, I'm not bitter or anything.

Yes, I am.

Anywho, I watched <i>Cruel Intentions</i> with a friend last night. It's terrible in almost every aspect (though it does have an interesting ending), but I enjoy watching it from time-to-time for just that reason. :P Great laughs!

That's what makes it awesome, Camster. :P

Anyway, earlier this week the family saw Iron Man for the first time, and when I IM'd my cousin to tell him we saw it, he was all "Wait...you're seeing Iron Man...for the FIRST TIME...NOW?" :lol:

Last night, Jane and I watched Lilo & Stitch.

Valley Of The Dolls - Terrible writing, terrible songs, a lot of terrible performances along with a few great ones. Absolute trash.

I couldn't take my eyes off it. :P 9/10 purely based on entertainment value.

Two For The Road - Funny sexy romantic comedy with Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney. 9/10

Lol dude i know how you feel! Someone did the same thing to me and I think that's why I don't like the movie. Annnddd someone totally ruined the 6th Harry Potter book for me as well...damn people who spoil and make us not enjoy the story as much as we're supposed to.

Oh and as for recent movies...Escapay and I just finished watching Aladdin a couple hours ago. Didn't realize till now that we should have watched the video version instead of the dvd so we could laugh at the unedited balcony scene.

And also....now I want to watch Cruel Intentions again.

Oh, I know all about people ruining the ending to a movie...

*cough* Albert *cough*

I still haven't watched When Harry Met Sally, and I thought that since my memory is so bad that I would have forgotten the spoiled ending by now. Nope, of course not. :lol:

Resident Evil: Degeneration:

I have such mixed feelings on this, I would have much rather have seen a dtv for Resident Evil that shows the story of the first game, or even Zero. But I doubt that will happen.

I was actually a bit lost on the plot, I missed a few things and didn't realize you somewhat need to follow things. The opening sequence was rather interesting but a bit too hectic for my liking because the clips are a bit fast paced.

I rather enjoyed the animation, perhaps more so than some of the Pixar movies, or at least would put it on the same level as them. My only complaint was that the mouths looked a bit out of sync with the words, perhaps that's only me though.

All in all I plan on buying it whenever possible and can see myself watching it again.

If More silly Symphonies counts... but actually, the last feature film I saw was Snow Cake on dvd more than a week ago.
This was my second viewing of this movie (which I also saw in the theatre) and it's still very good ****

Oh yes As it is in Heaven (Swedish film about a famous musician returning to the town where he spent his childhood) recorded form the TV, but just to short, so that we missed the ending!
