I wish. Though of course I rarely know about anything before anyone else does, so... I bought the boxset myself when it was about $23. And for the extras on the discs, that price really is justified. Besides, I still have my Uncut VHS - it really makes a huge difference seeing these scenes play through the way they were originally edited. The only scene I prefer Edited was the hanging because the camera-speed rushing effect seemed unique.

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

Just watched the original movie of the hit television show Dragnet with Jack Webb and Ben Alexander. This was one of the very first movies of its type, where they actually took the television show as it was and expanded a story to fit the silver screen. Warner Brothers is really missing the boat by not releasing this to DVD. I duped it finally to a DVD+RW in hopes of it coming to regular release someday.

The Transporter, it's pretty good I guess, I like his car... naturally.

But to be honest, I didn't hate scream. I did think it was stupid, but I did enjoy it. I like lame movies.

Watched two wonderfully different movies in the same evening.

First, from 1990, we watched Keifer Sutherland and Dennis Hopper in Flashback. This is a wonderfully funny movie about an FBI agent (Sutherland) who is escorting a prisoner to Spokane, Washington via train. It is a very funny movie with all sorts of twists and turns, and mistaken identity and what-all. If you haven't seen it, you should.

Then we watched a really funny, feel good, makes-you-feel-warm-all-over movie called The Second Time Around with Andy Griffith, Debbie Reynolds, Steve Forrest, and Thelma Ritter. This film is from 1961, and you have to watch it on AMC, as it is one of those that is not yet on DVD. It is about a young widow (Reynolds) who goes west to make a better life for herself and her two children and all the problems that arise when she stands up to the town bully (Forrest) and is rescued by a backwoods bashful guy played by Andy Griffith. Lots of fun, and really cute story.

Bringing Up Baby - for great comedic timing and knowing how to properly overlap dialogue (entire cast)
A Streetcar Named Desire - for dramatic acting and one of the best examples of The Method (Marlon Brando)
Blue Velvet - for knowing how to act harsh and loving at the same time (Dennis Hopper)
Moulin Rouge - for how NOT to sing if in a musical (Ewan McGregor)

I rented Slither, and I only have one thing to say - yuuuuuuuuccchh. What a sick and nasty film. I mean, I know it's horror and it's supposed to be gory, but this was just gross. One of the worst films this year.

Just recently watched Scary Movie in its entierty again. Man, that's some funny stuff.

Austin Powers: Goldmember 9.3/10
MUHAHAAHAHA, Mu-HAHAHAHA, muhahaha...pfft, what a lame joke I loved it, I can remember the first time I found out Austin and Dr. Evil were brothers, I thought it was a joke. This wasn't as great as 1 or 2, but I still loved it.
I know it's improbable, but I'd love it if there was an Austin Powers 4! Theres been 21 James Bond's, why not have more Austin Powers'!

We had fun tonight by watching Date Movie -Unrated Edition, it was silly, but fun to watch together.

And then we watched two of my favorite Hammer Horror films in honor of getting to stay up an hour later tonight because we turn the clocks back:

Scars of Dracula and Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.

If you really like good horror flicks, you can't go wrong with anything from the studios of Hammer Films. They produced some of the best in the 60's. Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, and the woman with the best scream in horror movies - Barbara Steele.

Well, I think the last movie I watched was The Little Mermaid, from my new Platinum Edition DVD (it took two weeks to arrive to Malta by post from the USA. I was going to die with mental strain).

Before that, I watched Flightplan. I think it's a pretty good thriller, though not the best.

Something that really riveted me was Jodie Foster's acting capability. The emotion that she manages to convey in her voice turned my blood blue. It's pretty incredible. She's an extremely gifted actress.

I honestly did not think that it was a bad movie. I thought it was pretty good. Not better than some movies, but it was decent. Now I can finally mark this movie off of the list of DAC's that I've never seen. I still need to watch those package features!

Overall: 7.5/10
