So far, yes it has. It's currently at $341.1 million, I doubt it'll manage to overtake Fifty Shades which is over $200 million ahead but it's doing so well, I couldn't care less! Here is where you can see it for yourself: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/cha ... 015&p=.htm :D

The entire "Lavender's Blue (Dilly Dilly)"! Click here!

Apparently it's available on iTunes! It should have been on the freakin' soundtrack!

Here's the lyrics:

Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green.
When I am king, dilly dilly, you shall be queen.
Who told you so, dilly dilly, who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly, that told me so.
Call up your men, dilly dilly, set them to work.
Some to the plow, dilly dilly, some to the fork.
Some to make hay, dilly dilly, some to cut corn.
While you and I, sdilly dilly, keep ourselves warm.
Lavender's green, dilly dilly, lavender's blue.
If you love me, dilly dilly, I will love you.
Let the birds sing, dilly dilly, and the lambs play.
We shall be safe, dilly dilly, out of harm's way.
I love to dance, dilly dilly, I love to sing.
When I am queen, dilly dilly, you'll be my king.
Who told me so, dilly dilly, who told me so?
I told myself, dilly dilly, I told me so.

Strangely, it doesn't have the lyrics "You must love me, dilly dilly, for I love you."
It's such a beautiful song, but it's a pity it's not included on the soundtrack.

I finally got around to seeing it after so long. I honesty loved it and can't wait to own it on bluray.
Gorgeous scenery and costumes. What a shame that gorgeous wedding dress was only seen for a mere minute or two.
Cate Blanchett was truly wicked in it. I had fears of Lily James being a tad bland from the trailer but I thought she did a good job. I would have maybe liked some subtle instrumental of music from the 1950's film but it's such a minor thing. I maybe would have liked Cinderella to be a bit more aggressive at the end but I also see the point an earlier poster made - there isn't any thing wrong with being helped sometimes. I loved it nevertheless.
It was a lovely film with a classic feel that didn't piss all over the original fairytale or the Disney animated film - so well done Disney and Branagh. I couldn't have wished for much more really.

I'll be so angry if Disney UK don't put Frozen Fever on the blu-ray.

That Youtube version of "Lavender's Blue (Dilly Dilly)" are not Lily James singing, is it? It does not sound like her, and people have commented on the video that it is from a CD with music for children.

You're correct, it's not Lily James. The song is a very old folk song and there have been countless recordings of it.

My favorite is this one by Laura Wright, it seems to capture the whimsical nature of the versions in the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxkipcAcLXs

I found this to be an interesting perspective on the Cinderella mythos. What do you think?

Wow, I like when I see feminists like Cinderella and I really thought that was a great story and a great way to view Cinderella's story. Thanks for kindly showing us that, Sotiris! Made me very happy! ;)

I don't know if Cinderella could have stood up to her abusers without getting a worse life, or if she could have found a way to be happy if she ran away, or found a place to run away to that was better. But that was a great way to view what she did.

It's something that is definitively worth taking to consideration. And a good point of view. I feel sorry for the user who's been abused, but she does bring some thoughtful reflection on the role and criticism that Cinderella gets. I hope the girl is better now.

That girl is absolutely right. Cinderella is such a strong character.

What annoyed me the most was that she was called Ella and not Cinderella. That part could have been different. Why not just call her Cinderella? And the prince was annoying to me as well. He acted very girly to me. I did love the step mother though. She did an amazing part! She mad the movie to me. It was definitely better than Maleficent, but I just didn't like the whole vibe in the movie. I enjoyed Alice in Wonderland the best as a live action movie so far.

That was a really smart deviation from the 1950 film, in my opinion.

How did the prince act girly...?

Also, I'm confused by what you found annoying about her name being Ella? A professor of mine once said that the name Cinderella pretty meant "dirt face," so if we're going by that notion, why would her own parents name her that? Yes, I know it was like that in the animated version, but realistically no one would call their child that. Also, in the Perrault tale, which this movie was based on as well, her birth name was something else until her stepfamily called her Cinderwench/Cinderseat/Cinderass/Cinderslut/Cinderbreech (depending on which translation you read) or Cinderella.

I wouldn't have minded her being named Cinderella from the start, because it's a pretty sounding name and the original animated film made that her real birth name because they said her name was lovely, but I also think her name being Ella and then her stepmother calling her Cinderella is a smart, good idea. It is closer to how the original fairy tale was, that her birth name was not Cinderella, it was what her stepfamily called her.

Actually Cinderslut may not have been one of her names. It might have been translated to Cinderslattern where slattern would mean a dirty women, not a slut.

I've read a few Perrault versions where the elder sister called her Cinderslut. Haha.

Oh my. Well they're free to use whichever definition of slattern they want, I guess. It's just that Cinderslut sounds more cruel than Cinderass, so if the younger stepsister is "not as rude and uncivil as the elder sister", I would think just Cinderslattern (Cinderdirty/untidywomen) would be the more logical choice.

"A woman with low standards of cleanliness" is a dated and archaic definition of "slut," so it totally makes sense that she would be called that by the elder sister, who was rude and uncivil.

Ella's apron actually belonged to her mother. I only noticed that now. How sweet!
